I picked up Pin-Up Girls Volumes 8 and 9 together, and I'm reviewing them together even though they're going to appear separately here. So if you notice that the reviews are very similar—you're quite right.

Pin-Up Girls is a series of lesbian scenes from Girlfriends Films. It follows the general GFF format: four scenes of two-girl lesbian sex without toys, strap-ons, and other props. If you're familiar with other titles in the GFF catalog, then you pretty much know what to expect.

If you don't keep up with GFF, then basically it's this. These are shot and edited as a sort of feature, and there's a bit of a plot. The DVDs are put together so that you can watch it for the plot or skip directly to the sex if you wish. It's one of the things I always admired about GFF--they're willingness to accomodate both types of viewers.

In particular, the Pinp-Up Girls series is set in a vague 1950s era when women wore starched lacy, full-cut lingerie. I'll be honest and tell you I'm not one who watches it for the plot, so I can't really can't say what's been going on except that it's about various models who decided to shoot their own porn that they'd sell in the back pages of the men's magazines of the time (the ones that had photos of models like Bettie Page in leopard skin and articles about huntiers in the wilderness being attacked by wolves).

I got this one solely for the Rayveness / Jelena Jensen matchup, which I've been praying would happen since Ray returned to the series in Volume 7. But to be honest I would have been happy regardless. There's always at least one scene to ring my chimes.

Scenes vary in content but not too much given that there are no toys, Sybians, strap-ons, and such that are commonly found in other lesbian titles. There's also no fetish stuff, unless you count old-time lingerie. GFF lesbian films tend to go more for the tender and loving style of sex, so there's a fair amount of kissing, caressing, and nipple sucking as well as tonguing and fingering, as well as some welcome pussy-grinding.

So what it comes down to largely are the matchups. Scene 1 has my dream-scene, the busty and beautiful Rayveness and busty and beautiful Jelena Jensen. Scene two has the lesser-endowed but no less fetching veteran Prinzzess and newcomer Valentina Nappi. Series favorites Jayden Cole and Victoria white appear in Scene 3. And we wind up with RayVeness again, this time with A-cupper Ashlyn Rae. (My mentioning boob sizes isn't meant to cast judgement on the quality of the scenes--it just makes note of it for those of us who care about these things.)

As with all GFF titles, the DVD and the scenes look they were made by people who would actually want to buy their product. The scenes are bright, color and beautifully shot, and have a feature-quality appearance you would expect from a high-budget production. The camerawork never gets in the way or calls attention to itself, but it's usually where you want it to be. Audio is clean. The music is limited to the story portions and doesn't detract from the sex.

Likewise, the DVD is simple and well laid out. There are numerous chapter stops and go to logical places in the scenes, which makes navigation a lot easier.

"Extras" are just promos and trailers.
