Initial Expectations: I really enjoyed Pick Up Lines 15 so I’m hoping for more of the same here.

Initial Reaction: It’s not quite as good as Pick Up Lines 15 , but it’s still good enough to make me want to see a lot more of the series.

Audio /Video Quality: The audio quality is good, but has a few spots where the dialogue is hard to hear. Thankfully, this doesn’t matter much here. The video looks great. There aren’t really any noticeable problems.

Music: The music is about as loud as I’d want to hear it. It’s sexy and fits the scenes nicely.

Menus: The menus are simple but nicely done. The chapter menu lists the scenes by the lady in them.

Disc Problems: During the third and fourth chapter in the behind the scenes featurette (between about eleven minutes and fifteen minutes) the DVD completely froze up repeatedly in both my DVD-ROM and Marantz DVD player. I tried skipping past the problems, but another would just happen shortly later. When I tried skipping ahead to eleven minutes into the featurette, my player went to a completely green screen and locked up so badly that it wouldn’t respond to either my remote or the buttons on the actual machine. I actually had to unplug the player to get it to do anything again. Finally, I skipped to the fifth chapter and didn’t have any problems afterwards. I haven’t ever had a disc freeze up on me like this before. I deducted a half point from the overall rating because of the problems I had.

The Feature: The Pick Up Lines series follows a simple premise. A couple, or sometimes more than one couple, watches a porno. As they watch, they normally get turned on and you see them get a little frisky during the scenes. After they finish the movie, they normally take out their frustrations on each other. It’s a basic plan, but it works very well, especially if you want hot sex scenes without worrying about plot.

Jeanie Rivers, a cute and small breasted blonde, starts things off posing nude for Jake Steed. When Jake comes in for a close-up Jeanie decides to check out his stuff a little and starts rubbing his cock through his pants. Tera Patrick’s scene also goes a long way in making up for the lesser scenes with just an oral scene. Once again, Pick Up Lines , now in its 44th episode, succeeds by playing to its strengths rather than trying to be something its not.

Extras: The photo gallery looks great and lasts about two minutes with five seconds per photo. The bios cover Angelica, Christine, Jeanie Rivers, Shally, Stacy, and Tera Patrick. Each bio gives a little information, a picture of the star, and a link to the star’s scene. Trailers are included for the Pick Up Lines, Shane’s World, Peeping Tom and Rodney Moore series. The Couples Only selection gives an alternate softcore version of the John Walton and Christine scene. Surprisingly, it’s still the same length as the original scene, it just uses alternate angles so they “naughty parts” aren’t shown.

The Behind the Scenes featurette lasts about twenty minutes and covers both the scene and the photo gallery for the ladies in the scenes. Over half of the featurette is of the framing sequences between Mark and Tera as well as their ending scene with Nacho. It’s a great sequence because most of it is long enough that a few stories and conversations get into the behind the scenes which gives a little better look at the stars as people. On the negative side, it also means there’s quite a few more scenes of the guys, and mostly Nacho, keeping himself ready to perform. The rest of the featurette is dedicated to the scene between Jeanie Rivers and Jake Steed. There isn’t much of the banter here that made the first half so enjoyable. There’s quite a bit of quiet still time between shoots and time devoted to Jeanie after she gets her face decorated. Most of the dialogue in this part of the featurette is Jake talking about making porn. Sadly, the second half weakened the featurette quite a bit.

Overall: Currently, Pick Up Lines 44 can be found online for between $22 and $25. This seems a little high, especially with the problems with . The sex ranges from slightly below average to very hot, and both the transfer and extras are very good. Sadly, there are also some major problems with the behind the scenes.

Note to OGV: The behind the scenes was a great extra here. The softcore scene was also a nice scene. In the future, it might be a nice option to include the original scene as a picture- in-picture option. Also, please check your quality a little better. The problems with the behind the scenes were extremely annoying.
