Peter North's P.O.V. Review

The gist: Every company has to have a POV line now, and this is Northstar's. The point-of-view concept comes with its own inherent pluses and minuses: It limits the number of angles available, so the scenes can be pretty repetitive over the course of the disc. But it does eliminate the male performer to the maximum practical extent, which is a selling point for a lot of viewers.

The play-by-play: Leading off, we have girly-voiced cutie Lily Thai. She's wearing a big T-shirt and poking around in the fridge, talking about making breakfast. We get a brief display of her smokin' body, as well as her giggly personality. After talking us through the early stages of a POV blowjob on the kitchen floor, she reaches into the fridge for some whipped cream, carefully applying four equally spaced dabs along the top of the dick. She starts by closing her mouth around the one at the tip, goes deeper to get the next one, then the next, but despite a valiant effort she fails to engulf the last one ("I forgot, you're too wide to get down my throat"). Nice try though. She heads up to the bedroom for the sex. She takes charge for a slamming cowgirl, resulting in a squirt onto the cock. And she licks it up. What a gal. Reverse cowgirl, mish and doggie follow, and a big pop goes in her mouth, then dribbles out. Lily looks great (and talks to you a lot) in a winner of a scene. 4.5 stars out of 5.

Monica Sweetheart gives us a little tease on the bed, wearing a nice bra and panties while rolling stockings up her long legs. As always, I love her accent as she tells us what she wants. Good, consistent eye contact during a terrific blowjob. She wants to start in doggie, which is mostly shot from about a 7 o'clock angle, instead of the traditional POV of straight-on 6. Cowgirl is followed by a brief reverse cowgirl that quickly goes to RC anal. Then -- what's this? -- we see an extended RC anal shot from the traditional front angle: Monica facing us, and totally not POV. It doesn't really bother me, but it does seem to miss the point of the disc. A good strong missionary anal (also shot from 7 o'clock) ends with a pretty good facial to a very pretty face. Plenty of P2M and A2M between positions highlights this scene. 4.5 stars out of 5.

Lena Juliett halfheartedly pretends to be "your little Latin maid" for about 30 seconds before just getting down to it. Her sexy pink dress isn't really appropriate for dusting anyway. The blowjob quickly gives way to doggie, and she gets a pretty good drilling. Next is reverse cowgirl, with most of the motion coming from her waist and hips, as opposed to her legs, so it's mostly just her ass bouncing up and down, not her entire body. I like that. A little momentum is lost in cowgirl anal, but the reverse cowgirl looks better. A subpar (for North) pop lands mainly on the chin. Relatively little of this scene is shot in straight-ahead POV. 3.5 stars out of 5.

Marie Luv is new to me, but we get a good look at what she's got in a soapy shower tease sequence. A disconcerting editing error tosses in an extra "Maria" title card on the screen before the blowjob starts. She climbs on top for cowgirl and reverse cowgirl. Her patter and moaning come off a little fake, which gets worse in the missionary, but maybe I'm just not used to her. In doggie, a little ass-slapping adds something new to the mix. A good pop streaks her face to wind things up. 2.5 stars out of 5.

Bobbi Eden is wearing some cute lingerie and fellating a dildo in her intro, but she's naked when we cut to the real BJ. It goes by quickly on our way to reverse cowgirl and cowgirl. This scene follows the pattern of the previous ones in that doggie seems to be where Pete does his best work. Bobbi's ass is looking mighty fine from this angle, which roams from 7 o'clock over to a 90-degree side view of just her upper body, again breaking the POV rules. But not as badly as the next two shots, which are up-and-under views. It looks good, and Bobbi seems to be loving it, but it's soooo not POV. There's good titty-bouncing in mish before she takes her facial. 3.5 stars out of 5.

Pros: A very strong cast, and the ladies have been directed to be talky, which I like.

It wouldn't be a Peter North movie without hefty pops. If that's what you're looking for, you don't get cheated.

Cons: This could be a major issue for some of you -- it's just not what I think of as POV. North isn't handling the camera, and it veers off to the side pretty often, though not to the point where you see much more of him than you would in a true POV. Still, combined with the zooming in and pulling back of the shots, this movie doesn't really even try to create the illusion of strictly seeing the scene from the eyes of the male talent. It really violates the spirit of the concept.

The scenes have little setups, and sometimes the women engage in one-sided dialogue with the viewer. They talk, and then they pause for the responses that you apparently are supposed to fill in. In theory it's not such a bad idea, but in practice... well, your mileage may vary, but I found it pretty silly most of the time.

DVD extras: Nothing too exciting. A couple of trailers, a photo gallery, and an infomercial for "Peter North's Secret", some kind of supplement. The infomercial does contain a brief clip of an outstanding facial delivered to a smiling Monica Sweetheart in "Deep Throat This 2".

The verdict: Solid performances and my fondness for most of the cast make this a definite keeper overall, but POV purists will have legitimate objections.
