Synopsis:
Peepshow Special volume 1 is supposedly a hidden camera amateur sex series video.

Video/Audio:
Peepshow Special volume 1 is presented in the full screen aspect ratio, 1.33:1, which is probably the original aspect ratio for the film. The picture quality is good, the picture itself is a little grainy and there is a video glitch here and there. Other than that there are no issues with the video presentation.

The original audio track is a 2.0 English Stereo track, which works well for the presentation. The audio volume varies throughout the film, mostly due to the fact the talent was too far away from the microphone at the time. Dialog can be hard to hear at times. There is also a 2.0 French Stereo dubbed track, a 2.0 German Stereo dubbed track, a 2.0 Spanish Stereo dubbed track, and a 2.0 Italian dubbed track. The dubbed tracks have the original English language dialog with the dubbing over it in the new language, which can make it hard to understand at times. Available subtitles are Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Portuguese, and Polish.

Chapters/Time Code:
There are four chapters available from the main menu for Peepshow Special volume 1. They are identified by a video clip and the star's name. One goes to the beginning of each scene. There is a time code for the feature film, so time searching is available.

Special Features:
Private has put their standard features on this disc, most have to do with the feature film, but aren't really that useful. As for the extras that are related to the feature film, first we have the photobook which contains 32 photos that you flip through. The cast contains a short text write up on the star and a Private magazine, video/DVD filmography. There are cast pages on Holly, Karen, Laura, and Marianne. The production notes is another text feature that reads like a PR release mixed in with what is written on the back of the box.

The only feature not related to the feature film are the previews for other titles. The available previews are Private Life of Bettina, Private Reality 4, Superfuckers 11, Guns & Rough Sex, and Anal Furies.

DVD-ROM Special Features:
There are two DVD-ROM extras on Peepshow Special volume 1, a PC Bonus, which is related to the feature film and an internet activated DVD catalog, which is not related to the feature film. The internet activated DVD catalog shows all of the Private releases up to the creation of the disc and allows you to see information about all of them. The PC bonus is wallpaper for your desktop.

Review:
Here is what the video line claims to be, an amateur sex video taped with hidden cameras getting hometown English girls in action, whose permission was later obtained so the film could be released. Throughout the film, the director keeps making sure that you understand that the people don't know they are being filmed and makes claims of other attempts that went poorly.

Although this could be the truth, after watching the film, I have doubts. All the sex scenes look staged. The cameras are almost always able to get a good angle and decent shot of the action that is going on. The women also appear to be very good at simulating the porn style of sex for standard amateurs that are unaware of being filmed. Also when reading through the cast biographies, Laura has a magazine and video/DVD filmography, which your common amateur would not. So chances are that the scenes are staged.

Now that we have that cleared up, we can get into the issues in the film itself. The first problem is that in between every cut we are treated to the Peepshow Special logo on the screen. Which get very annoying, very quickly. I also didn't find the cast to be that attractive. One of the cast members I found to be one I enjoyed watching. For those who like older women, one of the female cast members is 51 and another looks 51, but isn't. The rest didn't fare so good. The sex is decent, there is nothing spectacular here, but nothing awful either. The sex tends to be on the harder side. The sexual themes are oral, vaginal and anal sex and for viewers who care, there were no condoms used in the film.

The Money Shot:
Although a hidden camera sex film using amateur talent could be good and very enjoyable, this title is not it. Due to a rather unattractive cast I have to recommend that everyone pass on this title. If you are interested in this title, I suggest renting it first so you know what you are actually getting. Viewers who like tame sex or a plot with their films will definitely want to pass on this one.
