The Short Story

Initial Expectations: Celeste has really been impressing me lately, and has one heck of a great cast here. I'm a little afraid of the amount of solo and lesbian action with both Jana Cova and Sophia Santi here, but then again Jana and Sophia make my loins burn hot enough that I can't care about that too much.

Initial Reaction: It's nicely above the average porno, but a little light on the straight action and doesn't come close to delivering on the voyeuristic theme.

Who Should Watch It : Fans of artistic porn who like a bit more all girl action

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody who wants to hear the performers or who wants a voyeurism themed movie

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: As always with Digital Playground, the technical aspects show some nice effort. Being a Celeste movie, there's no audio other than the music. The video is presented in anamorphic widescreen, and was a bit disappointing here. There appear to be some filters used to tweak the look at times, which I have no problem with. The problem mostly came with the use of some natural lighting, which meant that there were some natural shadows as well.

Music: As always with Celeste's movies, the music plays a very important role being the only audio in the movie. The style varies very nicely throughout the movie, and keeps a great feeling that's just a little creepy at times. It often has a more mainstream than porn feel to it, and really impressed me. It didn't always have a positive effect on the scenes, but it was impressive.

Menus: The main menu has a very cool style to open it before it goes into the main menu, which gives it a very favorable first impression. The chapter menu is they typical generic chapter menu that lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a chapter number. I can't help but think of a comment I think Den made wondering how Celeste would have liked it if her fans couldn't find her scenes as easily as possible in a movie she was in seeing menus like this in her movies.

The Feature

Peek: Diary of a Voyeur goes with the standard Celeste style. Each scene has no audio from the performers, but gets a bit artistic with the video and the setups. There's plenty of attention put to the styles, and even a little bit of voyeurism.

Scene 1 – Jana Cova and Sophia Santi

Hot brunette Sophia starts things out in a black dress with red gloves and a fur wrap checking out Jana who lies restrained in a black dress and bright red shoes on a table with a red gag and her hands tied behind her to her ankles with a red rope. Sophia smothers her for a moment with her fur and spanks her before letting her up before giving her own tits a rub and letting Jana up to check out her tits. Sophia unleashes a fake cock from between her legs for Jana to worship before she plants it in Jana from behind. This is an above average scene. I love the domination feel to the start, and as always, both girls look utterly fantastic. The chemistry is a bit cool here, which is a result of Celeste's artistic style, and the action comes off as more than a little limited for the scene running almost fifteen minutes. Of course, with these two lovely ladies in the same scene I also had darn high expectations and it's full possible they were very difficult to meet. This is a decent scene, but the artistic feel interferes with the sex a bit and holds it back from where it might have gone.

Scene 2 – Claire Robbins and Chris Charming

As the camera pans around the girl looking through the telescope, it shows the girl to be Claire in a little black lingerie with a little fur wrap and Chris admiring her ass. She pulls up the lingerie to allow him to fight the urge to touch it, an urge which Chris soon gives into as he worships, slaps, and spreads open her great ass with his fingers. Claire rewards him with some nice head before sliding her ass over his cock reverse cowgirl style. Chris also lets her have it doggie style before giving Clair a decent pop on her tongue, chin, and chest.

This scene leaves me with mixed feelings. It has a bit of a dark feel to it, which at times put me off and at times really worked well for me. There's great chemistry between Chris and Claire, and she takes it in the ass great. Unfortunately, the shadows interfered here and there were some big places where you couldn't even tell which hole he had it in. This is a pretty hot scene that leaves me with a few reservations.

Scene 3 – Jamie Lynn and Sophia Santi

Jamie Lynn and Sophia start out the third scene with their hair in a braided ponytail wearing only a black garter belt and black and nude stockings, respectfully, as they kiss and explore each other sitting on an Ottoman. Sophia gives Jamie her lipstick and lets her give one of her tits a good kiss to leave a ring around it before letting Jamie touch her up and leaving red rings on her chest. They write little messages on each other with the lipstick and roll around before Jamie moves down to finger Soiphia while kissing her tits and mouth. This was a very different scene. It's playful and artistic, yet very limited when it comes to the sex. It seems to be more about the girls marking territory as they play than satisfying each other, and although part of me really wanted to see them kick it up a notch and bam each other, another part of me liked to watch them simmer. This is a kinda cool scene.

Scene 4 – Marlena

Brunette Marlena starts her scene in a black sheer bodysuit and shades working her way around a silver pole with white blinds behind it. She strips down as she works her way around the pole, and ends up wearing only her shades and sexy black shoes. She plays with her pussy a bit before bending over and working a pair of fingers into her ass with a smile, and even sucks her fingers clean before going back to working on her pussy. Finally, she gives the camera a smile before it fades out.

This is a great little tease scene. Marlena has a great body, and the camera angles work great for having the pole nearly disappear at points in the scene. I love how Marlena kicks up the play fingering her ass, and having her go the extra nasty step by sucking her fingers clean makes it all the better. This is a very enjoyable solo scene.

Scene 5 – Lexxi Tyler and Sophia Santi

Maid Lexxi, who apparently spilled on herself as she doesn't have a top, brings a tray in to her mistress Sophia as she reclines on a white couch. Sophia rips up the envelope that's presented to her and throws them at Lexxi climbs on top of her on the couch to start sucking Sophia's tits. Scene 6 – Sophia Santi

Sophia begins the second solo scene wearing only a sexy black bra with plain panties, stockings, and mesh gloves sitting back in a chair by a windowed corner enjoying a smoke. She runs her hands around her body as she goes, and even pulls up a foot to suck after putting down her smoke. She strips down a bit and bites open her stockings so she can suck her toes before fingering herself with her still-gloved fingers. The scene finally ends with Sophia looking like she might have satisfied herself.

This scene really worked well for me. Yes, I find Sophia extremely beautiful, and putting her in tease scenes like this frequently works well for me. I love the fetish aspect here with the feet and smoking, and really like how Celeste balanced the time between each. This is a very nice solo scene that adds a little depth and variety rather than falling into the solo scene trap that so many other directors end up in.

Scene 7 – Holly Wellin and Scott Nails

Holly, who's still in her blonde mode here, starts out the penultimate scene crawling onto a white couch wearing some hot pink lingerie with leopard print stockings and pink shoes to get close to Scott, who's still in his mohawk mode wearing only a suitcoat, pants, and shades. They kiss before she lets his hands wander around her including playing with her pussy, and tips her neck back so he can get a good taste of her neck. She rewards Scott with a bit of knob gobbling, and repeatedly sees how much she can take in her throat while her eyes tear up and her salivary glands start screaming. This is a darn hot scene. I love the style, I love the pace, I love the harder edge. Holly and Scott have great chemistry, and do a great job blending classy and dirty. This is probably my favorite scene in the movie, and although it was also one of the longest I wouldn't have minded it going even longer for another position. I love this scene, and it ended up easily being my favorite in the movie!

Scene 8 – Karlie Montana and Sophia Santi

Karlie and Sophia start out the final scene in silver and black lingerie, respectively, with Karlie adding a black square over her eye and Sophia having a little something near her eye. They pose a bit before coming together and kissing, with Sophia taking charge by moving down to see what the rest of Karlie's soft and squishy parts taste like. This scene was rather hit or miss for me. I like the simpler styles to the scene, and both girls are darn hot. There's some nice back and forth action between the girls, but it just went on a touch too long. As it ends, it seems like there's still a bit to go between the girls. If it would have ended slightly sooner, such as when Sophia came up from eating Karlie the last time, it would look like Karlie was satisfied so the scene came to an end. This scene had its moments, but ended the movie on a lukewarm note.

Peek: Diary of a Voyeur is well done, but still leaves me a little disappointed for several reasons. The first, is that although both Jana Cova and Sophia Santi are featured prominently on the cover, Jana doesn't make it past the first fifteen minutes of the movie while Sophia gets another four scenes. Granted, I love watching Sophia, but to feature both girls so prominently on the boxcover and have Jana only in one of the scenes is something that I think could leave many Jana Cova fans very disappointed.

My other major disappointment, and the main thing that disappointed me about the movie, is the title compared to the action in the movie. With a subtitle of “Diary of a Voyeur”, I had high hopes for plenty of voyeuristic action throughout the movie. Yes, there is the bit with Claire and her telescope, but that only lasts a few minutes as the movie moves from the first to the second scene and is never to return again. Sadly, this could have been done much better to maintain the voyeuristic feeling put forward by the title. If the scenes would have been broken apart by things like the telescope panning around between scenes (hopefully not capturing Robby D. spanking the monkey in the Joone's car as it swung around) and then made Claire and Chris's scene the final scene, I think it would have really taken the movie up to the next level. Yes, Sophia has multiple scenes, but that could be easily worked in doing something like having Claire come in and pick up the telescope to see Sophia. Claire has a killer body, and it would have been easy to add a little extra tease capturing her body but never showing all of it or keeping it in the shadows until the last moment. Yes, the voyeur can be a bit of a porn cliché, but it also has a following and those who enjoy that fantasy are going to be more than a little disappointed by how it's thrown aside here.

That isn't to say that Peek is a loss, as there is some good stuff here. Both solo scenes are very nicely done and I love the scene between Holly Wellin and Scott Nails. Sophia also scores a very nice scene with Lexxi Tyler for those who enjoy the sapphic side of things. The other scenes were kind of hit or miss for me, having some shadow problems and not bringing the lesbian scenes to a satisfying close. Peek: Diary of a Voyeur shows some nice artistic skill, but it doesn't come close to living up to its name.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of Digital Playground’s bigger releases can be found online for between about $18 and $28 with a few stores offering them for under $20. If you like artistic porn and girl on girl action, this one's probably going to be worth the money for you. The sex is artistic with guys in only two of the eight scenes. Unfortunately, the voyeurism aspect never really gets started. The technical aspects are nicely done for the most part, but there wasn't a lot of effort put into the extras. This is a pretty good movie that could have used a touch of extra effort put into the extras.

Note to Digital Playground: As usual, a little more effort put into the extras would have been a very good scene. At the very least, it would seem like a good move to put a bonus scene in from one of the Deeper movies to help draw people in for that release (while putting a Celeste scene on the Deeper DVDs in case they're still curious about Celeste). Also, if you're going to title a movie around a specific fetish, you'd better make sure you include a fair amount of footage relating to that fetish in the movie. This was like having a movie title “Interracial Mayhem” only to have the interracial action limited to a black guy giving the white chick three pumps then going to sleep on the couch while the all white movie caries the rest of the movie.
