The Short Story
Initial Expectations: I’m just not sure about this one, but it’s different enough to make me interested.
Initial Reaction: YAWN...
Who Should Watch It : Anybody who’s turned on by girls struggling against ropes
Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting anything other than girls struggling against ropes
The Technical Stuff
Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are nicely done. The audio is clear and well balanced, and I didn’t noting any background noises. The video is also nicely done. It’s clear and free of grain without any camera motion to interfere with things.
Music: None
Menus: The main menu has a little animation combined with a still and a clip of the movie for an okay first impression. The chapter menu lets you choose between the two sections of the movie, and then choose between the segments of the movie based on scene numbers only.
The Feature
I’m breaking away from my usual review format for this release due to its format. The Particular Fetishist is split into two parts. The first portion lasts roughly fifty minutes and features ten scenes with girls who are restrained while wearing bathing caps and swimsuits. The second portion of the DVD lasts about fourteen minutes and consists of girls wearing tennis outfits who are restrained. The action is extremely consistent form scene to scene. There’s never any sex, and the action consists entirely of girls in a particular outfit who are tied up and struggling against their restraints. I’m sure this works for some people, but for me I was wishing I hadn’t had a couple glasses of wine to relax before watching this one since I almost feel asleep. The entire movie feels like a scratchy record by an untalented band. Every song sounds the same, and when you hit the record player to move on to the next song you get a song just like the one you tried leaving.
That said, there were some things I could really appreciate in the movie. The girls are cute and the outfits are nicely done. They’re sexy, and there’s a nice variety to the outfits for the most part. There’s also some nice attention given to color that makes the scenes feel like they’d be much better if just done as a series of still photos. Finally, I could appreciate the rope work in the movie, which used some of the colors well and also drew some nice attention to the girls’ features. It never looked sloppy, and always looked substantial. Artistically, The Particular Fetishist was a nicely done bondage movie.
The Particular Fetishist is a release that just didn’t work for me. I’ll admit that the girls were good looking (especially Tanya Danielle in her tennis outfit), but the action never interested me. It struck me as a starting point for a scene that never went anywhere that was turned into the Groundhog Day syndrome. If all you want is girls in bathing caps and suits or tennis outfits struggling against ropes, this is probably a movie you’ll love. For me, however, The Particular Fetishist left me bored.
The Extra Stuff
The photo gallery lasts just over three and a half minutes with about seven seconds per very good looking snapshot or framed photo. The Down -n- Dirty Sex Stuff
Themes: All girl and bondage
Raincoat Factor: Very high if you’re into girls struggling against ropes, very low if you’re not into girl struggling against ropes
Condom Usage: None needed
The Bottom Line:
Currently, many of Harmony’s DVDs can be found online for between about $16 and $25 with most stores offering them for about $20. Unless you’re severely into girls struggling against ropes, don’t even think about paying that. Even then I’d question it and would strongly suggest renting instead. The action is a one trick pony that got old quick for me, but the technical aspects were well done. There’s also not a lot of attention paid to the extras. This was definitely not my thing and a fairly disappointing DVD overall.Note to Harmony: A little effort towards your authoring would be a very good thing. I can’t remember the last time a company didn’t have an author good enough to put their entire movie on one title (especially when it barely lasts an hour), and a time code would also be nice to allow people to jump where ever they want. Finally, in a title like this, a cast listing by scene would be a great extra which would take up virtually nothing for space on the DVD.
