The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are nicely done. The audio is clear and well balanced, and I don’t think I heard a single problem with the audio. The video is also pretty good. There’s a hint of grain / pixelation, as well as a few shadows and very minor camera movements. The shadows and softer look are easily the biggest problems with the video, and even they aren’t too bad.

Music: The music is okay. It has a decent dance beat, but is almost always way too loud.

Menus: The main menu is okay, and does a decent job of blending the boxcover, a bit of the action, and some animation. The chapter menu is fairly generic, and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene.

The Feature

When Kaylani wakes up from a wild night in Vegas with male stripper Evan, she’s more than a little surprised. In fact, there’s a chance that only three people on the strip didn’t hear her scream. She’s even more surprised when she finds out they were married, especially since she’s supposed to be getting married to Nick. Kaylani can’t remember much of the night before, however, and tries to piece things back together with Evan and her best friend Pason.

Scene 1 - Kaylani Lei and Nick Manning

Hottie Kaylani lets fiancé Nick know that he has nothing to worry about with her heading to Vegas for her bachelorette party by giving him a little loving. Scene 5 - Alexis Malone and Nick Manning

There was something that seemed a little off for me, but I just can’t put my finger on it. This is a nice way to end the movie.

One Night in Vegas is a fun little adult movie. It does a very good job of working the sex scenes into the story rather than cramming them in, and keeps things nice and light. The sex scenes are all nicely done, and my biggest complaint with any of them was the lack of position changes. Stormy also did a nice job giving the scenes a bit of variety sexually, and they don’t feel quite as restrained or rushed as many of Wicked’s scenes have for me lately. The non-sex parts of the movie are also nicely done. The characters come off very well, and Kaylani does a nice job of leading the cast. That said, I think Kris Slater stole the movie. Yes, he only has a non-sex role, but he’s so funny as the gay gardener / interior decorator / sidekick for Alexis that I couldn’t help but look forward to his every moment on screen. He was entertaining every moment, from just putting a smile on my face as he stood in the background stroking his dog wearing a bellboy uniform to outright hilarious at the strip club and most any time he was given a line. I think he was the difference that took the non-sex portions of One Night in Vegas from the level of your stereotypical couples movie and kicked it up a level to a really entertaining couples movie. Yes, One Night in Vegas has a few minor problems, but they’re all fairly minor. Stormy Daniels has been doing a great job at Wicked over the last few years, and with One Night in Vegas she shows that she can do every bit as good behind the camera as in front of it. I can’t wait to see what’s next from her.

Several photo galleries are included. The main gallery lasts a little over three and a half minutes. Star galleries are included for Alexis Malone, Kaylani Lei, Pason, and Shay Sights lasting nearly two and a half minutes each. In each case you get about seven seconds per snapshot or full screen photo that varies between being pretty good and fairly blurry.

A couple interviews are also included. Stormy has about a five minute interview where she talks about the wonders of scheduling talent, the many hats she wears around Wicked, and whether being talent helps or hurts her as a director. She also talks about how close she is to some of what she writes and how personal the idea for the movie was. Stormy also talks about how things have fallen in place with her and dancing. Kaylani also gets an interview which lasts nearly three minutes. She talks about her role and what she does in the movie, not being funny, working with Nick Manning, and hard sex. It’s a very nice pair of interviews, and as usual, Mark Stone captures some great personality from both of the ladies.

All Access: The Making of One Night in Vegas lasts about twenty five minutes. Stormy starts things out getting things ready before working with Alexis and Kris for some of their non-sex scenes. Things move over to the lovely Kaylani Lei for her photo shoot and a few words, as well as a little time with Nick in the sack, before going back to Alexis as she gets dressed up to take on Nick. After a little more time with Stormy talking about what one of her fans sent her to help her out, she goes back to working with Alexis and Kris. Kris gets a few words before Evan has more than a few words, with both guys being quite amusing. Kaylani and Evan have a little fun with Stormy on the bed before shooting their scene. The next day, there’s a little fun trying to work things around Shay’s headdress as well as Stormy showing Evan how it’s to be done. Evan has a little more fun on one of the lesser-seen parts of the set as well as chatting with Lee Stone and going on about things going wrong on the set. Finally, there’s a few words from the cast for Stormy. I know many people often doubt porn chicks behind the camera, and this one removes any doubt of somebody other than Stormy being in charge for the movie. It does a nice job of capturing the making of the movie as well as the fun on the set. It’s a very nice behind the scenes featurette.

Bonus Scene - Kaylani Lei and Mr. Marcus

The bonus scene comes from Blue Rain. They start things out kissing passionately in the hallway before Kaylani leads Marcus to the couch where they explore each other a little with their hands while helping each other strip down. Somebody really should have trimmed back the ring here, and then it would have probably been barely noticeable. All that said, this is a very nice scene.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of Wicked’s newer releases can be found online for between about $17 and $25 with many stores offering them for around $20. This one’s well worth the lower end. The movie is light and fun, but well done and the sex fits into it nicely. The technical aspects are also pretty good, but the video is a little weaker than I normally expect from Wicked. Finally, there’s some nice extras to make this an all around nicely done DVD.
