Initial Expectations: I haven’t heard too much good about this series, so I’m not expecting too much either.

Initial Reaction: It’s low budget, but a decent gonzo movie.

Who Should Watch It : Gonzo fans, fans of public sex, cabbies.

Who Should Avoid It: Fans of plot and extremely well done porn.

Audio /Video Quality: The audio has a few spots where it’s hard to hear the dialogue, but for the type of feature it is the audio quality is surprisingly good. The video is also very clear for the most part. It isn’t perfect, there is a little bit of light reflection, some dim lighting, and a few soft focus blurs. It’s obvious that N.Y. Taxi Tales 7 is a low budget feature, but Pleasure put some effort into a good transfer.

Menus: The menus are very basic.

The Feature: I can’t be certain, but I’m pretty sure that at some point, most of the people who watch HBO’s Taxicab Confessions or whatever it’s called, really want it to turn into a feature like Pleasure’s N.Y. Taxi Tales 7. N. Y. Taxi Tales 7 follows a few cabbies around who just happen to pick up porn starts, strippers, and people who really want to fuck. Thankfully all of these people are really cheap too. They’d rather let the cabbie watch them go at it or even go as far as fuck him, rather than pay a twenty dollar cab fare. No, it’s not a perfect feature, but it is fairly fun feature that’s done a lot better than one would expect.

To start things off, Charlene Aspen and Ronnie Cox return from a business trip to California and are picked up by cabbie Smally Paulie. When he finds out that they’re in the adult film business, he offers to trade them cab fare for a little show. Not known for being shy, they agree and Charlene proceeds to give Ronnie one heck of a sloppy, energetic blowjob. I’m not sure how Paulie managed to keep the cab on the road. Heck, I’m not even sure how they found a cabbie who could speak English! Of course, this is a movie and they take place in a magical place. It’s a decent scene, much of which is due to Victoria. Hopefully we’ll see more of her in the future.

Surprisingly, N. Y. Taxi Tales 7 is pretty fun. Yes, the budget was probably about the same as what it costs to get a happy meal, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad movie. Almost everybody in the movie appears to be having a lot of fun, which will help out almost any movie. The camera angles are limited, but what else can you expect when almost all of the movie takes place in a cab. Unlike many other low budget movies, it appears the creators did care about it as it looks very good. It looks and sounds better than most cabs and is a ride I’ll probably think about taking again.

Extras: The slide show contains twenty very clear snapshots. The bios cover Teddi, Tawni, and Charlene. There’s one picture with a little bit of personal information. They’re not great bios, but they’re a lot better than others I’ve seen. Trailers are available for Stray Cat, Evil Eyes, Looker , Prey, Shattered Vows, Intimate Strangers, Penetrator 2, A Clockwork Orgy, Eros Instinct, and Back & Beyond . Most of them are pretty decent trailers. Many of the films are by Nic Cramer. Finally, there’s internet and phone sex information.

Overall: Currently, N. Y. Taxi Tales 7 can be found online for between $13 (on sale) and $22 with two stores offering it for under $15 and the rest offering it for $20 and up. At the low end, it’s not a bad buy if you’re a gonzo fan. It’s a fun feature that’s done surprisingly well. There aren’t many extras, but the transfer is pretty good.

Note to Pleasure: It’s nice to see companies don’t write off low budget pornos. It appears that you put some effort into making this one look good and it helped a lot in making it a better DVD. Keep up the progress!
