The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are okay. The audio is normally pretty clear and well balanced, but there are a few background noises and hollow spots. The video is much the same way. It’s nicely lit but it does have some slight grain. It captures the action okay, but often feels limited and fairly cheap.

Music: There’s a little soft music that helps the movie out nicely.

Menus: As usual, the main menu nicely blends a bit of the cover with some animation. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and the name of the performers in each scene.

The Feature

Layla starts things out in a sheer black shirt and skirt with helpful assistant Layla Jade in a white sheer shirt and red latex skirt. They talk about the orgasm reaction as well as how it is extremely variable and personal, affected by both the physical and mental of the person. They cover both the mental and physical aspects of orgasms, including physical limitations and being mentally able to accept an orgasm. As Nina puts it, nobody gives somebody else an orgasm, they just give the person the right support to let them accept having an orgasm. They talk about the orgasm peaks and how to stretch it out before Nina moves on with a couple demonstrations.

Scene 1 - Nina Hartley and Aria

After introducing Aria and talking very quickly about Aria’s sexuality, they start things slowly. Nina has Aria lie back and lightly rub her pussy before trying to see how long Aria can talk to the camera as she eats her. Aria describes what Nina’s doing to her for a little bit, and after a few minutes Nina helps her find a nice orgasm. Scene 2 - Nicole Sheridan and Voodoo

Okay, Nicole looked like she might have had a couple, but that’s normal for a porn chick. I would have really liked the scene if Voodoo would have had her back off to show some of the restraint needed for a multi-orgasmic guy. That said, if this was to be a typical porn scene, it would have come across very nicely. Nina Hartley’s Guide to Multiple Orgasms is an above average educational feature. Nina does a nice job covering the physical and mental aspects of an orgasm with the help of Layla, and her demonstration with Aria is just as nice. Nicole and Voodoo’s scene fits in very well with a passionate feel, but overall, I just didn’t feel that this one had the depth of some of Nina’s other features. Maybe that’s because an orgasm is a very personal thing that one just can’t teach. It’s something that one has to learn to accept and relax for rather than having it be something that can magically work by simply changing a position like it might for anal or something that takes just a little more thought to prepare for like a threesome might. I think the weakness came into view for me during Nicole and Voodoo’s scene, which is very sad because it takes a bit away from their scene. I really like Nicole and Voodoo’s scene, and it does a very nice job of showing the passion and enjoyment that every couple dreams of (especially because it contains some wonderful butt love). It’s a great scene, but as always with features like this I couldn’t help but ask myself “How well does this scene show the things one should be learning in this movie?”. When I went to answer that question, I couldn’t help but get a little confused wondering what it was supposed to be teaching. Then it dawn on me, it isn’t a technique, it’s chemistry, and something like that can’t be taught. That made Nina Hartley’s Guide to Multiple Orgasms seem a little trivial, and something that seems like it would have been much better as one facet of an instructional release that covered two or three different subjects instead of devoting an entire release to this subject. Nina Hartley’s Guide to Multiple Orgasms has some nice ideas, but it falls short of some of the other releases in the series by picking a subject that doesn’t seem like it can be taught too much.

The interview with Nina lasts nearly fifteen minutes. Nina lies sideways in an oversized black chair wearing some black spike heeled shoes and some black and platinum lingerie with Ernest Greene questioning her. They talk on how men and women approach multiple orgasms, the work it takes, and how common it is to find multi-orgasmic people. They also cover the pressure put on people regarding orgasms and a few tips regarding orgasms. It’s a nice interview that’s definitely worth checking out.

It might have a few tips that help you, but I can’t see it having too much repeat value other than Nicole and Voodoo’s scene. The technical aspects are only slightly above average and there’s some decent effort put into the extras. This is a pretty well done DVD.

Note to Adam & Eve: A little more effort into the technical aspects could go a long way...
