Initial Expectations: Nina’s educational releases have been kind of hit or miss. I’m not too sure what to expect here.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are the best I’ve seen out of Nina’s recent educational releases. The audio is nicely balanced, and there were only a couple minor background noises. The video is also pretty good. It’s nicely lit and has very little grain to it. There’s also barely any camera motion. This is a pretty good looking and sounding release.

Music: None

Borderline False Advertising: Carmen Luvana gets second billing in the movie. Yes, she’s here, but only in a supporting non-sex role. To me, giving her second billing when she’s only in a non-sex role seems more than a little deceptive and like a cheap way to lure in Carmen’s fans. I’m penalizing the overall rating a half point because of this.

Menus: The main menu is okay, and blends a bit of the cover with some animation. The chapter menu is okay, and lets you choose between the discussion and the two demonstrations based on what the scene is and a small clip.

The Feature

Carmen Luvana joins Nina for a discussion about the history of the G-spot as well as an anatomy lesson on where it’s supposed to be located. They discuss different methods to stimulate the G-spot as well as the varying degrees of sensitivity to them. They also discuss the importance of masturbation so one can better know what works for them before moving on to the demonstrations.

Scene 1 - Melissa Lauren and Nina Hartley

Melissa, with her hair streaked in black and red wearing some bright blue latex bra, stockings, and a garter belt, joins Nina, wearing a red and white latex nurse outfit, for the first demonstration. Melissa sits back in a chair and lets Nina strip her down a little before examining her tits. Nina slides her tongue between Melissa’s legs to get her in “the proper frame of mind” before sliding on a pair of latex gloves. She moves in to massage Melissa’s clit before coming back out to demonstrate a little vulva massaging. She dons the gloves again and breaks out a vertical speculum to show both the viewer and Melissa (with a camera) her G-spot. Next, Nina breaks out a G-spot vibe. She starts working on Melissa’s pussy, checking to see what works best for Melissa for both motion and vibration. Next Nina demonstrates G-spot stimulation through the ass. She starts out with her finger, and then breaks out an anal speculum for the demonstration before taking Melissa over to the bed for a full-on demonstration. They start with a glass g-spot dildo before Nina goes muff diving again. It doesn’t take Nina long to break out a strap-on and start fucking Melissa missionary style. They move on with a bit of doggie fucking, with Nina starting in Melissa’s pussy and ending up in her ass. Melissa also gets a reverse cowgirl anal ride with Nina holding a ball vibe on Melissa’s pussy until Melissa appears to have a few more orgasms.

This is a pretty good demonstration. Nina’s comments blend into the scene much better than they have in most of Nina’s other recent demonstrations. She and Melissa look into each other, and Melissa comes off as more than willing to learn from a very knowledgeable Nina. There’s some very nice touches here, such as the speculums and the different toys, and the scene flows nicely. Unlike some of Nina’s other demonstrations, this one comes across much more like a sexual demonstration than a sex scene with a few breaks to talk about things. This is a good scene.

Scene 2 - Nicole Sheridan and Voodoo

When Voodoo comes home, he finds Nicole decked out in some hot red and black fetishwear wanting him to help her find her G-spot. He wisely agrees to help, and after they check out a toy or two he lets her lie back while he works on her orally. Nicole returns the favor letting Voodoo fuck her face before lying back and letting Voodoo try to find her G-spot with a purple toy while he licks her clit. They also try a vibe inside her while Nicole holds a vibe on her clit before she lies back and lets Voodoo fuck her as they sit facing each other. They fuck doggie style next, followed by a little reverse cowgirl and even a little pile driver. Finally, Voodoo pulls out and drops a major load all over Nicole’s pussy.

This is one of the most disappointing scenes I think I’ve seen from Voodoo and Nicole. They cover the techniques fairly well, but the entire scene suffered for me by feeling extremely forced. The lines came off as almost laughable, and reminded me a little of why people used to laugh at porno dialogue. The sex also gave me that feeling that so often hits me from couples studios where a couple who’s often intense and energetic is held back. They still put out some nice energy, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that they were being told to keep things held back throughout the scene. All in all, I couldn’t help but be bored watching this scene.

Nina Hartley’s Guide to G-Spot Sex is an okay educational release. She gives some nice tips for G-spot sex and her demonstration with Melissa is pretty well done. Unfortunately, the entire presentation held the release back for me. Carmen’s dialogue seemed forced, and over scripted. While the format seemed to be set up around a conversation, Nina instead seemed like she should have had a podium in front of her. In fact, I think the entire lecture would have come off much better if it were handled with just Nina lying back on the couch talking about the subject like she does in the interview later on the DVD than as it was handled here. Of course, that would mean there would be one less person listed in the credits which might lose a customer or two. Surprisingly, Nicole and Voodoo’s scene was the low point of the movie, and felt more than a little forced and held back. Nina Hartley’s Guide to G-Spot Sex is an okay educational release, but I don’t think it was done as well as some of the releases on the same subject from the Sinclair Institute.

The Extra Stuff

The photo gallery lasts a little over five minutes with about seven seconds per okay photo. Rather than letting you see all of the photo, the camera seems to pan across it, which is a style that has never worked well for me. Trailers are included for Big Ass Orgy, Fantasy Suites, Fleshbacks, Strap-On Divas, and Amateur Angels 20. There’s also weblinks, a bonus scene, a behind the scenes featurette, and an interview with Nina.

The behind the scenes featurette lasts nearly a half hour. Nina talks about afros and hair picks before talking with Voodoo about sexual exploration. She talks with both Voodoo and Nicole Sheridan about the book that they’re writing together as well as talking with Nicole about their relationship and attitude, as well as sex. Voodoo and Nicole explore the toy chest with Nina before Ernest chats with Carmen about bondage and G-spot orgasm. He also helps her with her outfit. This is a pretty good behind the scenes featurette. There isn’t a lot of Carmen footage, but there’s so much good stuff with Nicole and Voodoo that I couldn’t help but really enjoy it. The only thing that really holds this one back is that it’s the same featurette that appeared on Nina Hartley’s Guide to Erotic Bondage.

The interview with Nina lasts thirteen minutes. She talks about the series doing well and why she’s covering the G-spot now. She talks about her reactions to G-spot stimulation and the differing responses women have to it. She discusses some common reactions to women with G-spot orgasms without limiting it to squirting as well as a little bit of anatomy. Nina talks about the importance of not having concrete goals with sex as well as how sex is supposed to be adult play. It’s a nice interview that gives a great overview as to the G-spot and sex.

Bonus Scene - Tory Lane and Trent Solari

The bonus scene comes from University of Austyn where hot brunette cheerleader Tory gets it on with geeky Trent. This is a very enjoyable scene.

Currently, many of Nina Hartley’s educational DVDs can be found online for between about $8 and $25 with several stores offering them for around $15. Rent this one first. Although the technical aspects are some of the best I’ve seen for Nina’s recent educational DVDs and the extras show some nice care, the overall feature is pretty average. Either pick this one up cheap or rent it first.

Note to Adam & Eve: If you’re going to have an A list performer in a non-sex role please list them as such on the cover, and don’t give them second billing! Doing so is only going to piss off fans of those people and leave them thinking less of you.
