NOTE: This is an amateur video. Amateur and homemade movies don’t have the budget nor the resources of studio porn, and therefore rarely get close to the same quality technically. I’m rating this DVD on the same scale, but most homemade or amateur features would rarely make it above a 3 on the standard scale I use for studio porn for their technical aspects. The performers also aren’t normally the ‘glamour stars’ one expects from studio porn, and instead use people who look like somebody you might encounter in your day to day life. Finally, the camera work has a different feel, as it’s often shot from a tripod or with somebody who doesn’t have the technical training or experience of professional cameramen. That said, amateur and homemade features have a great charm to them, simple because the people in them are doing what they’re doing to have fun and because they enjoy it. All the things that separate them from studio porn contribute to that charm, I hope people will keep that in mind when checking out this review and not just look at the ratings as the ultimate word on this release. Since the technical aspects are normally lacking and there normally isn’t much for extras in amateur features, I’ve weighted my overall rating more heavily towards the sex than I do in most studio porn.

Initial Expectations: Shot at Home has rarely disappointed me with their movies, and I really liked their “Shot at Home Alone” line. I can't help but have very high expectations here.

Initial Reaction: It's light and fun, just as I've come to expect from this series.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are nicely done, especially considering that this is a homemade movie. There's a few background noises, but the audio is normally well done and easy to hear. The balance is thrown off a bit for the shower scene, but thankfully isn't too bad. The video is presented in the full frame format, and looks quite nice with pretty good lighting. It's sometimes slightly out of focus or its aim is slightly off, but there's no camera man here so Nicole either holds the camera herself while narrating or sets it down with some nice knowledge of what she's going to be capturing. If there's a tripod, I'm not sure it's ever adjusted and instead it feels like the camera is left on dressers and other furnishings in the room. For a homemade movie, this one has some very nice technical aspects.

Watermark Warning: Although the normally don’t bother me much, there is a small and tasteful watermark warning that stays in the lower left corner. This made it very easy to filter out for me, and quite honestly, I didn’t notice it unless I thought about it.

Menus: The menus are pretty simple. The main menu keeps Shot at Home’s usual style with their logo and a photo from the movie. The chapter menu is also simple, and lets you choose where to go in the movie based on six stills.

The Feature

Scene 1 – Nicole Scott

She changes into a purple corset next with purple panties and a short black pleated skirt before stripping back down. This is a very nice opening segment. You get some very nice personality from Nicole, who comes off as being very natural and easygoing. She's also very cute, and looks like she's having quite a bit of fun with her little show and tell segment. I always enjoy the trips through the panty drawer, as well as the other drawers in the Shot at Home Alone movies, and this one's no different. Nicole makes this a very nice and easy start to the movie.

Scene 2 – Nicole Scott

Nicole spends a little time sorting through her toy drawer to try finding the right toy to play with and then settling back on the bed wearing only her shorts. Scene 3 – Nicole Scott

She talks about loving animals and to eat as well as being well educated before getting into the shower. This is another nice scene. Nicole comes off as just as personable here, and her talking about herself is nicely done. The added masturbation is nice, and I love the shaving segment. Scene 4 – Nicole Scott

This is a nice little final scene. It's short and sweet, but that's all it tries to be. Nicole starts it out saying she only has a few minutes, and she takes a bit more time to make sure she's satisfied. This is a good scene, and a nice way to end the movie.

Nicole at Home Alone 1 is a very nice solo girl release. I've been very fond of the Shot at Home Alone style since I first watched it, and there's nothing here to change my mind. It's all about the personality and the girl showing off here, and that's something that seems hard to find in today's porn unless they're to show off seeing how many cocks they can take in them or how many cumshots they can take. Here Nicole looks to just be herself and show off her sexuality, and that's a great relief from the typical porno. She takes her time working through the movie, and gives some nice attention to both pleasing herself and showing off her great body and some of her outfits. Yes, that's a simple idea, but for many of us things don't always have to get complicated to be enjoyable and they don't always need to be completely Earth shattering to take notice of. Although I still enjoyed it, the shower segment comes off as the weakest here for the simple fact of the audio balance making it hard to hear Nicole. At the same time, it was one of my personal favorites in the movie due to the shaving segment. Nicole at Home Alone 1 is a nice change from the typical solo girl release, and although it has some weaknesses it still works very well due to the natural and personable feel of the movie and Nicole.

The Extra Stuff

In addition to a half hour preview reel of other Shot at Home releases, there's also an “Extra O” scene. It lasts about a minute and a half with Nicole working a toy around her clit to make herself cum. The scene is a bit dark and odd because it looks like the camera is laying on its side, but it's still a little extra footage that helps out the overall DVD.

This is a nicely done and enjoyable amateur solo girl release.
