PREFACE:
Jim Powers has been directing porn for many years. He has worked for a number of different companies over the years, and still splits his talents between a couple different producers today. Powers has a unique style, and sometimes it can culminate in some of the most kinked out, and bizzarre sex scenes I have ever witnessed (for some of the most outrageous examples of this work, see his Perveted Stories series from JM productions). Private's "Master of Kink" Frank Thring has nothing on Jim Powers when it comes to flat out weird-ass sex (although admittedly Thring has many advantages over Powers otherwise). In this way, Powers has long had a hit or miss relationship with yours truly. At his worst, he brainchilds these amazingly kinky and downright messy, badly lit sexual freak-shows that I can't imagine too many people find interesting. At his best however, he has a gift for casting both young cuties (including Gauge, Violet Blue, & Shay Sweet among many others), and amazingly intense performers (including Kelsey Heart, & Candy Apples) in videos that include some fairly comedic, and pretty damn hard sex--even if the dirty old man vs. naughty school girl is a bit overplayed at times, and yes, even if we are condemned to watch Dave Hardman in yet another movie...

INTRODUCTION:
That being said, I've found more "hits" with Jim Powers when he is working for Notorious productions. This particular series, Naughty Little Nymphos, has had some hit or miss moments of its own, but of late, the series seems to have gotten a bit better. NLN #7 was an enjoyable movie with good scenes from the likes of Kristina Black, Jodi Moore, and Aurora Snow. My mouth waters when I think of some of the hotties featured in this edition--like Angel Long, Brandy Starz and Jeannie Rivers. Jim Powers may not get it right all the time, but he damn well knows how to cast female talent--I wish I could say the same for his choice of men (who he tends to use, and use again, and reuse like dried tissue paper out of the toilet bowl). I have to say, though, as unappealing as Mr. Dave "over-actor" Hardman is, this volume seems to be blissfully devoid of Mr. Johnny "anti-cumshot" Thrust, who is pretty much a deal breaker when I see him in the credits these days. What the hell, with the exception of Mr. Thrust, most of the men Powers casts, for whatever else I might say about them, can keep a hard on and perform. So without further adieu, let us suspend our disbelief and immerse ourselves in chapter 8 of Jim Powers' continuing stooooorry of those Naughty Little Nymphos... and the raggedy old men who fuck them...

SCENE 1: DADDY'S LITTLE ANGEL MEETS COFFIN JOE

I've seen Angel Long once before--in Fast Times at Deep Crack High #6. That was enough to convince me to find more of her, and she is the principal reason I picked up this DVD. Angel is a tall, blonde, sexy thing with a killer smile and a light English accent. Here, she's wearing a short white skirt with a striped shirt. She has a big tattoo on her right buttock, but in her case, I can forgive that. The Action
Angel is in what looks to be a funeral parlor complete with candles and some religious iconography all around her. In front of her is a coffin. We are to presume that Angel is in mourning for someone. The Gist
Angel is a cutie--there's no doubt about it. This scene falls way short of showing her off to her greatest potential, though. She's sexy and a nasty talker, and I can't complain about that, but she's poorly directed and not once do we get to see that beautiful smile of hers. What a shame. For me the scene did its job with some nice anal and a nasty girl, but there was certainly nothing special here, and I didn't relate to the "Coffin Joe" set up at all. If you want to see a much better scene with Angel, Fast Times at Deep Crack High #6 definitely has one. As for this one, chalk it up to a hit for Angel, but another miss for Powers--a hot, fuckable girl misdirected in a poorly executed scene.

SCENE 2: ALONE IN THE HOUSE

I've seen Sabrina Johnson before and never been much of a fan. She's not the most attractive girl I've ever seen, but she's not entirely un-sexy either. Dave Hardman, the consumate Jim Powers staple, breaks into a house that we are led to believe he is about to rob. Hardman is a wacky performer and even though he's not my favorite, I have to admit that his personality and "acting" mesh with Jim Powers sense of "humor" perfectly. I'm bracing myself for some more painful and under-rehearsed, Powers-ian, pre-sex improv while Hardman slinks through the house. He even locks the door behind him before casing the joint--what a guy! Suddenly Sabrina Johnson appears and demands to know what he is doing in her daddy's house. I'll spare you any more detail of this setup, but there is some pretty funny dialogue before Sabrina inexplicably opens her legs and shows Dave her white lace panties while she insults him. She invites him to lick her cunt peppering him with insults all the while. Cue the porn music as it fades in (at an acceptably low level) and the sex officially begins. Dave dutifully licks Sabrina's pierced cunt like the "drug addict loser" he is, and Sabrina looks pretty good while he does it. I'm sure that others might find her performance here and this setup pretty sexy, and at least some of Sabrina's insulting zingers to Dave are pretty damn funny. In all, an ok scene, but Sabrina didn't hold my interest.

I would have preferred it if Adam remained in his drunken stupor throughout the scene and had no choice but to let the horny little girl have her way with him. I'm not sure how many sexual positions would have worked in that situation (although I can think of one or two....:), but it would have been a nice role reversal, even if I couldn't necessarily understand why she was horny in the first place. Oh well--I think I'm hoping for a little too much sophistication from Mr. Powers, so we'll just leave it at the fact that this was a fair scene of unrealized potential, with a girl that looked good but did little else.

The Gist
As much as I like Angel Long, Brandi's scene is the best in the movie. I could have done without "Clowny"'s constant bellowing, and again, the camera work is seriously lacking. We just aren't allowed to see this beautiful creature at her best. That's a real shame, but Brandi does the best she can to make up for that with her naughty looks and enthusiasm. I also liked the cocksucking positioning and the way it was handled. Finally, she actually brings him to orgasm with her mouth and hands without any help on his part, and that is a really nice topper to this half-way decent scene.

DVD QUALITY
Although the video quality of the disc was passable, the camera and sexual positioning were attrocious. For all the good that Jim Powers does by getting these great women to participate in some of his offbeat, kinky shinanigans (some of which I honestly enjoy), he still has trouble showing these women at their best. A combination of uninteresting sexual positions and badly handled camera work really took away potential heat from this video. The music was not interesting, but it also wasn't obtrusive to the sounds of the perormers, who I was able to hear just fine.

EXTRAS:
There are hardly any extras to speak of on this disc. There's some funky chaptering that allows you to skip to either the beginning, or middle of each scene. There's a fair number of trailers for other series' from Notrious Productions (including The Babysitter, Extreme Penetration, and Amatuer Auditions, among others). Finally there's a photo gallery for those that want to see those impeccable NTSC quality still shots from the scenes. {{yawn}}

OVERALL:
There is much unrealized potential in this edition of Naughty Little Nymphos, but unrealized potential does not a good porn movie make. Lest you all think that I wrote this review just to bag on Jim Powers and his stable of male performers, let me just say that I have an admittedly unhealthy liking for Powers' stuff on occasion--and I have been known to chuckle at the antics of his male stars. I sometimes need my fix of Powers' off the wall humor, his dark and kinky sex, and his unique brand of wacky sexual improv. The mood doesn't strike me often, but it does strike me, especially when he casts hotties like Angel Long and Brandi Starz. Those two particular girls give the hottest scenes of this movie, even if those scenes are just lukewarm. Jeannie is very pretty, but proved once again that (as Patrick Collins would say) she's "glorious in gloss, and vapid on video." Sabrina just doesn't do it for me at all, and I'll leave it at that. I have certainly seen better Jim Powers videos, but this one did have points worthy of attention now and then. I hesitate to recommend it though, unless, like me, you have an unhealthy fascination for Powers' work, or an overdeveloped appettite for the likes of Angel Long and Brandi Starz.
