Director: Scott Taylor and Nic Andrews

Cast: Jewel De’Nyle and “you”

The Short Story

Initial Expectations: This has been a very good series. I’m looking forward to checking this one out.

Initial Reaction: It lacks quite a bit compared to current releases, but comes off as a very respectable start.

Who Should Watch It : Fans of Jewel De’Nyle and virtual sex completists

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting top notch virtual sex

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are very well done. The audio is nicely balanced and free of background noises. The video is also very well done. It shows some very nice attention to lighting, is free of grain, and doesn’t show any camera motion. This is a great looking and sounding DVD.

Music: None

Menus: The menus are extremely basic, and let you choose a section based on a small still photo and a sex act with a still of Jewel in the background.

The Feature

Jewel De’Nyle has had a devoted following long before she stepped behind the camera. With a killer ass, a tight body, and a pretty face that’s never afraid to spew filth as she’s getting a hard cock or toy rammed in one of her holes, she’s a girl that many found irresistible. I’m sure that’s a good part of why Digital Sin chose Jewel to be their first Plaything, where you get to control Jewel’s mood, what she does, and what angle you watch the action from.

Jewel starts things out in a black and white checkered skirt with a white button down blouse and white cotton panties. At you’re request she’ll move aside whatever you want to tease you with her tits, butt, or panties. She’ll also masturbate using her fingers, a dildo, or a vibrator. When it comes time for foreplay, Jewel will let you finger each of her holes, let you eat her, or suck your cock. Finally, Jewel will let you fuck her pussy missionary, doggie, or cowgirl style, or her ass doggie style.

Through it all, Jewel does a nice job. She puts some nice energy into all of the action and plays to the camera nicely. She doesn’t give as strong a performance as I normally expect from her, and I think many others who have come since have done a better job. That said, I think Jewel does do a very good job here for one big reason. This was the very first virtual sex DVD for both Jewel and Digital Sin, and there’s always plenty of uncertainties when you’re first. The other girls have been able to look back on Jewel and others to see what works and what doesn’t, and she didn’t have that option here. Here she puts in some very nice energy and does a good job with the vocals to vary the moods. She sometimes falls a little flat, but there’s rarely any doubt about whether she’s being naughty or nice. My biggest complaint was that Jewel seemed all too fond of the word “climax” when she was nice. Jewel’s performance might not be perfect, but for being the first one out of the gate for this series she does a very good job.

The cumshots are pretty typical for early virtual sex releases. There’s only one real pop shot, and it shows up for the nice blowjob. For being the only pop, it definitely makes up for it with volume. Jewel handles it great, and I’d say that there’s enough for two or three girls. She also hides a faked pop from the naughty blowjob by supposedly catching the cum in her mouth and swallowing it down. The remainder of the pop shots are animated, and quickly show why animated pops were laughed at so quickly. They look like something Foghorn Leghorn would spew out, and are only made worse by Jewel acting like it’s spraying down on her. The pops are anything but impressive.

The virtual mechanism also makes a lot of difference from release to release. Here, things are fairly basic but nicely done for their simplicity. The choices are nicely laid out on the side of the screen in each section, but you have to go back to the main menu every time you want to change from one group to another. You can jump around fine in tease or masturbation among the choices in each group, but when you want sex you have to go all the way back to the main menu. Needless to say, this is a bit of a pain. The other major drawback to the virtual mechanism is the looping for the segments. The segments are fairly short to begin with, as most of the sex segments last between about a minute and a quarter and a minute and a half (with three falling under a minute and one going over two and a half minutes) while the orgasm segments normally lasts between about twenty five seconds and a minute (with a few of Jewel’s orgasms going well over a minute). The segments then loop back to the very beginning so that you go from Jewel being nicely into a sex act to talking about just starting it. This continually interrupts the momentum of the sequences, but is something that Digital Sin has nicely fixed in more recent installments of the series. The virtual mechanism is fairly simple, but nicely done for being Digital Sin’s first virtual sex release.

My Plaything: Jewel De’Nyle is a virtual sex DVD that shows some age. This is nothing to be surprised at or complain about too much because it is an aged virtual sex DVD that was Digital Sin’s first journey into the field. It’s something I would hope feels a little dated because if it didn’t it would mean that Digital Sin didn’t improve on anything since they released it. For its age, both Jewel and Digital Sin do a nice job. The mechanism is pretty smooth and Jewel does a nice job with both the sex and her moods. My Plaything: Jewel De’Nyle is a nicely done first attempt at a virtual sex release.

The Extra Stuff

None.

The Down -n- Dirty Sex Stuff

Themes: Straight, virtual sex, tease, masturbation, toys, anal, and oral

Raincoat Factor: Very high

Condom Usage: None

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of Digital Sin’s My Plaything DVDs can be found online for between about $20 and $30, with most stores seeming to offer them in the $25 range. Rent this one first. It’s the first, and as such it’s a bit more limited. The technical aspects are nicely done, but there’s absolutely no extras. At the time this was an impressive release, but now it falls a bit shorter of many of the other virtual sex releases.

Note to Digital Sin: This one definitely lags behind your current virtual sex releases just due to the technological advances. It would be nice to see you giving consumers a price break because of it.
