Muse Season 1 Review

Review:
A well-known professor and documentarian whose expertise and notoriety derive from her past as a sex worker and her contemporary studies in adult fare challenges her students to create something pornographic as their final course project. In so doing, she pushes the limits of their perceptions, imaginations, and experiences, while simultaneously testing boundaries of her own. So goes Muse: Season One an utterly exquisite release from director Kayden Kross and her Deeper brand.

Quite simply the best feature of 2020, without question, this flick offers up an intricate plot with emotionally developed characters, both of which draw the viewer into Maitland's nigh-jaded and complex sexual world and keep her/him there for the duration. To be certain, the acting is extraordinary, particularly by the star, Maitland Ward, who has continued to deliver one brilliant performance upon another since her deep-dive into the adult film world a couple of years ago. This one is no different, of course...and is up there with her best.

Moreover, it goes without saying that Kayden Kross has once again demonstrated her superlative directorial skills, crafting an engrossing narrative and weaving an erotic tapestry that, taken together, are essentially a work of art. The cinematography is pure perfection, the soundtrack consistently invokes the mood of the goings-on, and each element of the flick is edited and blended together seamlessly into a cohesive, well-balanced whole.

And the sex? Stellar, of course. From Maitland's domination of two "fans", Dante Colle and Brock Doom, whom she encounters on the streets and upon whom she quickly turns the tables, to Adriana Chechik's outrageous, bound-and-hanging fucking at the hands (and cock) of Seth Gamble, this one has something for everyone. Of particular note are the smokin' hot visuals put forth by Lena Paul throughout. These are especially prevalent in her scene with Troy Francisco that takes place in a beautifully-lit room featuring a standup piano decorated by a samurai sword. This sequence is pure fire, as is the smoke-show duo of Gianna Dior and Scarlit Scandal, who take on Scarlit's boyfriend, Rob Piper, as part of their mutual project in an earlier scene. Hitting an emotional chord, Scandal isn't supposed to get involved in this one--merely filming her reactions as Gianna fucks her guy--but Dior's having none of it and quickly brings her in. What results is out of this world. Wow!

Needless to say, this flick is absolutely a must-see. Even those who aren't typically inclined toward features will likely marvel at just how good it is. Indeed, there is little doubt that what Kross and Ward are doing as a team right now is several cuts above the competition and, quite frankly, may well be changing and reforming the broader adult landscape...both in terms of quality and public perception.
