that if ever a movie was going to persuade me that transsexuals could
be hot, this is categorically not it.
Sure, More Than A Woman is shot, edited and presented with the basic standards
of competence that we tend to take for granted now, but that's not the
issue here. What I really disliked was the heartless, dispassionate nature
of much of the action. I am no believer in national stereotyping but if
there is such a thing as Latin passion then it's barely in evidence here.
There's very little sense that these are people who are really excited
about what they're doing or that they are giving or receiving pleasure
while doing it; it's all done as ordered. Most of the time, it doesn't
even look like fun, for God's sake!
The other thing that bemuses me is more to do with the broader appeal
of TS movies. While Marcia just about looks like a pretty girl, she and
Carolina especially are little more than a hormone tablet away from being
simply cross-dressed guys - I wonder who would buy More Than A Woman if
it were to be marketed as a transvestite rather than transsexual
movie? Whatever, far from being a ticket to an exotic garden of forbidden
delights, this is a trip to the bottom of the porno food chain, and I
have no desire to hurry back.

By and large the picture quality varies from good to excellent - once
or twice I noticed some jaggies and it's grainy in one or two dull indoor
shots. Any conversation is in Portuguese but the dialogue recording is
not very good. The disc itself is a pretty basic affair, with chapter
menu, come shot recap option and a photo gallery.
