NOTE: This is an amateur video. Amateur and homemade movies don’t have the budget nor the resources of studio porn, and therefore rarely get close to the same quality technically. I’m rating this DVD on the same scale, but most homemade or amateur features would rarely make it above a 3 on the standard scale I use for studio porn for their technical aspects. The performers also aren’t normally the ‘glamour stars’ one expects from studio porn, and instead use people who look like somebody you might encounter in your day to day life. Finally, the camera work has a different feel, as it’s often shot from a tripod or with somebody who doesn’t have the technical training or experience of professional cameramen. All the things that separate them from studio porn contribute to that charm, I hope people will keep that in mind when checking out this review and not just look at the ratings as the ultimate word on this release. Since the technical aspects are normally lacking and there normally isn’t much for extras in amateur features, I’ve weighted my overall rating more heavily towards the sex than I do in most studio porn.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are pretty good for a homemade release. The audio has a couple minor background noises, but is also nicely balanced without anything that really jumps out while watching it. The video is presented in the full frame format, and looks pretty good by homemade standards. There's a bit of noticeable grain, a few soft focus blurs, and a little camera motion, but the action is normally well lit. For a homemade release, this one looks and sounds pretty good.

Watermark Warning: Although watermarks normally don’t bother me much, there is a small and tasteful company watermark that stays in the lower right corner. This made it very easy to filter out for me, and quite honestly, I didn’t notice it unless I thought about it.

Menus: The menus are pretty simple. The main menu keeps Shot at Home’s usual style with their logo and a photo from the movie. The chapter menu is also simple, and lets you choose where to go in the movie based on six clips from the movie.

The Feature

Melissa's a blonde in her mid thirties with a lower back tattoo, a trim body, and small tits. Her man Brandon's balding but solid, and has a few tattoos. They have a video camera, so now we get to see some of how they like to play.

Scene 1 - Melissa and Brandon

Dirty blonde Melissa starts out walking down a hotel hallway and opening up a room. When balding Brandon finds a key in the hallway he too heads in. It takes almost twenty minutes for Brandon to join in, which made the scene seem just a little too slow, but when he does get in on the action it does pick up nicely with some good energy and vocals as well as some very good chemistry. This is a very impressive opening scene for Melissa and Brandon.

Scene 2 - Melissa and Brandon

Melissa starts out the second scene wearing only a pair of black dress boots and admiring a sex stool with a dildo sticking out of it. She sucks and strokes the toy before flipping the switch to turn it on so it will pump into her mouth, and soon after is squatting over the stool to let it fuck her. After a bit she turns around to show off her ass as she sits on the stool, and finally the scene comes to a close without any sign of whether she came from the toy or not.

This is an okay scene. It looks like the camera's set on a tripod for it, but every now and then the camera zooms in or out so show that somebody is behind it. Melissa shows off a few nice smiles and looks to get into the toy pretty well, but there's also a few blank stares at the camera that didn't do a lot for me. This is a decent scene, but at nearly twenty minutes without an orgasm it couldn't make it past the average mark for me.

Melissa and Brandon 1 is a nice and different homemade release. I really like how they tried to give the first scene a bit of substance by having Brandon look like a peeper who found her room key in the hallway, and there's some good chemistry between them when they get going. The solo scene fell a little short for me due to it being long and not having a noticeable orgasm, but Melissa still looks nice and does do a nice job showing off her sex toy. Melissa is darn good looking with a tight body that's impressive even if you don't know that she's in her mid thirties, and the camera work is nicely done throughout the release. Yes, there are some of the typical homemade blemishes, but that's also part of the charm of a homemade release. Melissa and Brandon 1 is a nice homemade debut release.

Currently, most of Shot at Home's DVDs can be found on their website for around $20. If you like solo scenes and longer scenes, this one's probably going to be worth the money for you. Melissa looks very good, especially for her age, and gets into the movie nicely. The technical aspects are pretty good for a homemade movie, and there's also a nice touch of effort towards the extras with the preview reel. This is a pretty good homemade release.

Note to Shot at Home: Although it didn't blow me away the entire time, this was a very nice debut and I hope we get to see a little more of Melissa in the future. A “Shot at Home Alone” release would be very nice so she can show off a few more sexy outfits as well as a few more of her sex toys.
