Megan Video Letters to Alaska 5 Review

NOTE: This is an amateur video. Amateur and homemade movies don’t have the budget nor the resources of studio porn, and therefore rarely get close to the same quality technically. I’m rating this DVD on the same scale, but most homemade or amateur features would rarely make it above a 3 on the standard scale I use for studio porn for their technical aspects. The performers also aren’t normally the ‘glamour stars’ one expects from studio porn, and instead use people who look like somebody you might encounter in your day to day life. Finally, the camera work has a different feel, as it’s often shot from a tripod or with somebody who doesn’t have the technical training or experience of professional cameramen. That said, amateur and homemade features have a great charm to them, simple because the people in them are doing what they’re doing to have fun and because they enjoy it. All the things that separate them from studio porn contribute to that charm, I hope people will keep that in mind when checking out this review and not just look at the ratings as the ultimate word on this release. Since the technical aspects are normally lacking and there normally isn’t much for extras in amateur features, I’ve weighted my overall rating more heavily towards the sex than I do in most studio porn.

Initial Expectations: The Megan series quickly became one of my favorite amateur series, as well as overall series. I can't help but go into each installment with very high hopes.

Initial Reaction: It's every bit as good as I hoped.

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting a lot of sex or anybody who hasn’t watched as the series does seem to build on itself

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are pretty well done for a homemade movie, especially when one considers some of it being shot on the move and in some less than ideal situations. The audio has a little hiss in the background, but most of it is nothing new for anybody who used an earlier video camera. Thankfully, there aren’t any background noises that interfere with the action otherwise. The video is pretty well done and presented in the full frame format. There’s a bit of grain, but Megan does a good job keeping the camera focused where she wants it. There are a few minor aiming problems, but for a girl pleasing herself with a remote control camera on a tripod it's pretty darn good. The action is nicely lit, and the zooms are easy on the eyes.

Watermark Warning: Although the normally don’t bother me much, there is a small and tasteful watermark warning that stays in the lower left or upper right corner without moving all over the place. This made it very easy to filter out for me, and quite honestly, I didn’t notice it unless I thought about it.

Menus: The menus are pretty simple. The main menu keeps Shot at Home’s usual style with their logo and a photo from the movie. The chapter menu is also simple, and lets you choose where to go in the movie based on six stills.

The Feature

When Megan’s husband’s job takes him to Alaska for a couple months, they decide to give things a more personal touch by sending each other videos rather than just writing letters. Megan looks to be close to thirty, and is very nice looking with long brown hair and brown eyes. She takes a little time in front of the camera each day to tell him what’s going on back home, and sometimes gives him a little show that every husband would hope for.

Scene 1 – Megan

Megan starts out in the middle of a shower looking like she just got in and got her hair good and wet. She lathers herself up, rinses off, and then grabs a razor to take care of the pits. She adjusts the camera before trimming up her racing strip down below, and even works the razor around her asshole before shaving her legs. Megan gets out and towels herself off while giving the camera a few glimpses of her body, and then works a little cream around her feet and legs. Megan moves to a makeup table and is wearing a robe next, and chats about some of the things going on that her man's missing before blowing and brushing her hair.

This is an opening that I think will be very hit or miss for people. If you've followed the Megan series, it's a nice slow start that lets her show off her great body while also growing a bit sexually as something like this would have made her completely nervous early in the series. If you're new to the Megan series, this scene is probably going to be a slow and agonizing hell. Yes, I enjoy watching shaving scenes, and although the shaving is nicely captured there's so much more that it just seems like a small piece of the puzzle here. This is a very nice opening for fans of Megan, but others will probably be very bored.

Scene 2 – Megan

Megan moves to the guest bedroom next, and after rearranging the bed a bit lies back on it with a dildo. She goes right to fucking her pussy, and then stops to slide on a pair of black stockings along with a black bra and panties, a tight pink dress, a purple coat, and black heels. Megan heads back to the bed to work on her pussy with the toy and her fingers, and rolls around a bit to try to hit her spots just right. She finally stops when her ride to work knocks on the door, so she pulls up her panties and heads out.

This was a very nice solo scene. I love how Megan took a break to get dressed in the middle and then went right back to working herself over. She gets into it very nicely, and it's all the sexier as she seems to really be getting into it as well as the camera taping it. This is a very hot scene.

Scene 3 – Megan

When she gets home from work, Megan sets up the camera by the computer and talks about how the girls giving her a ride were teasing her about being late and a bit red faced. After talking about some of what she hopes to do in the future, she checks on a couple things and then sits back in the chair to slide her hand into her panties and start playing with herself. It doesn't take Megan long to feel the need to slide the panties off completely, and she keeps rubbing her pussy while watching herself on the monitor. Megan makes sure to satisfy herself, and then goes back to watch some of it on the computer and talk to her hubby a bit more.

As hot as the last scene was, this one is even hotter. The sexual feeling builds on the previous scene extremely well and I love how she starts out talking about the girls teasing her for being late for the ride. The camera is aimed perfectly here, and it's next to impossible to miss how much Megan is enjoying herself. This scene seems like a perfect ending to this episode.

Megan: Video Letters to Alaska 5 is a great amateur solo release. This entire series has felt like a sexual journey as much as anything, and here Megan feels like she's reaching the end of her journey. While she started the series fairly shy and grew over the next few episodes in her confidence, here she seems like she not only knows just what she's doing, but is really enjoying it as well. While the sexual feeling is great, you also get the sense of longing from her of how much she misses her husband which adds an incredible amount of depth to the release as well as a bit of chemistry (which can be surprisingly hard to find with just one person). As I said, this series is very much a sexual journey, and for that reason as much as I enjoyed this release there's no way I'd recommend anybody interested in the series or this release to start it here. The first third of the movie is probably going to be extremely boring if you're not familiar with Megan, and there's an extreme depth that you're not going to realize without the background. Megan: Video Letters to Alaska 5 is a great continuation of an excellent series.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, most DVDs can be found for about $20 at Shot at Home’s website. If you've enjoyed earlier installments of this series, this one will leave you just as pleased. Megan really seems to get into the action here, and there's an ease about her that makes it all the sexier. The technical aspects are nicely done for an amateur release, and as usual with Shot at Home, there's even a little effort put into the extras. This is a very nice release, but don't pick it up unless you've watched earlier installments of the series.

Note to Shot at Home: With how much this series grows from installment to installment, it might be worth considering selling this in two packs, three packs, or even as a complete series.
