Megan Video Letters to Alaska 4 Review

NOTE: This is an amateur video. Amateur and homemade movies don’t have the budget nor the resources of studio porn, and therefore rarely get close to the same quality technically. I’m rating this DVD on the same scale, but most homemade or amateur features would rarely make it above a 3 on the standard scale I use for studio porn for their technical aspects. The performers also aren’t normally the ‘glamour stars’ one expects from studio porn, and instead use people who look like somebody you might encounter in your day to day life. Finally, the camera work has a different feel, as it’s often shot from a tripod or with somebody who doesn’t have the technical training or experience of professional cameramen. That said, amateur and homemade features have a great charm to them, simple because the people in them are doing what they’re doing to have fun and because they enjoy it. All the things that separate them from studio porn contribute to that charm, I hope people will keep that in mind when checking out this review and not just look at the ratings as the ultimate word on this release. Since the technical aspects are normally lacking and there normally isn’t much for extras in amateur features, I’ve weighted my overall rating more heavily towards the sex than I do in most studio porn.

The Short Story

Initial Expectations: This series might very well be some of the best solo girl stuff out there in addition to quickly becoming one of my favorite amateur series. I can't help but look forward to this release.

Initial Reaction: The audio is a little weak in the middle, but the public sex aspect really works well and helps this to be another great Megan release.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are pretty well done for a homemade movie, especially when one considers some of it being shot on the move and in some less than ideal situations. The audio has a little hiss in the background, but most of it is nothing new for anybody who used an earlier video camera. Thankfully, there aren’t any background noises that interfere with the action otherwise. The video is pretty well done and presented in the full frame format. There’s a bit of grain, but Megan does a good job keeping the camera focused where she wants it. There are a few minor aiming problems, but for a girl pleasing herself with a remote control camera on a tripod it's pretty darn good. The action is nicely lit, and the zooms are easy on the eyes.

Watermark Warning: Although the normally don’t bother me much, there is a small and tasteful watermark warning that stays in the lower left corner. This made it very easy to filter out for me, and quite honestly, I didn’t notice it unless I thought about it.

Menus: The menus are pretty simple. The main menu keeps Shot at Home’s usual style with their logo and a photo from the movie. The chapter menu is also simple, and lets you choose where to go in the movie based on six stills.

The Feature

When Megan’s husband’s job takes him to Alaska for a couple months, they decide to give things a more personal touch by sending each other videos rather than just writing letters. Megan looks to be close to thirty, and is very nice looking with long brown hair and brown eyes. She takes a little time in front of the camera each day to tell him what’s going on back home, and sometimes gives him a little show that every husband would hope for.

Scene 1 – Megan

After driving around listening to the radio, singing along a bit, and commenting on the farmers being out in the fields, Megan finds a dirt road she thinks looks suitably empty for her purposes. She finally stops the car and opens up her top to play with her tits briefly while singing along to ”Hold on Loosely”. Megan brings out a pink vibe soon after that she puts to work on her pussy. She mixes up the speed quite a bit while also checking for anybody coming by and adjusting the camera. After a bit she decides that she better get going and gives her hubby a hint of what else she has in mind to do for him.

This is a great opening scene. Yes, the technical aspects are limited, but the feeling of the scene is unstoppable. Megan gets into the masturbation very nicely, and you can see how turned on she is at doing it outside of the bedroom in a place she might get caught. That feeling takes the scene far beyond where it would have been if she would have been at home on the couch or in the bedroom, and really starts this installment of the movie on a high note.

Scene 2 – Megan

Megan shows up next in her car wearing a dark charcoal colored turtleneck with a little news of what's been going on and taking a little walk before she has to change batteries in the camera. When she returns she has the camera set on the car and walks towards the railroad tracks she parked by wearing a black coat, black dress boots, and a blue skirt as The Stones comes out of the radio on the car. She strips down in the middle of the road keeping just the jacket on in case anybody comes along and after a bit brings her pink vibe out and puts it to work on her pussy again as she stands in the road. She moves up onto the hood and keeps playing with herself before it looks like the battery's going to die again.

This scene is even better than the first scene. Megan really looks to have fun doing her show in the road, and although there's a couple little breaks, Megan keeps it going very nicely. Once again the scene works as much due to the attitude as the action, and my eyes couldn't move from the scene the entire time. This is another excellent solo scene.

Scene 3 - Megan

Megan decides to stay home and keep things a little more calm next. She talks about her plans to go out with one of her friends and get drunk as well as catching him up on some of the other things going on while wearing a little black top and jeans. She returns to catch him up a little more wearing a green shirt and again wearing a more professional outfit. She even shows up in a little baby blue nightie before getting in the mood for Halloween outside in a black outfit complete with thigh high boots and a mask out on the porch. She talks about getting a little chickenshit with the public sex thing as she rubs her pussy sitting back on a bench on the porch. She adjusts the camera and breaks out her tits and toy before showing off her ass and then sitting back down to work on herself with the toy as cars drive by behind her. She moves to the table to give the camera a bitter view of her fucking herself through the easy access hole in her outfit, and spits around to give as many angles as possible as she works herself over. Finally, she gives the camera a quick kiss and a couple last words.

It takes a while to get to the action here, and the action has plenty of shadows to hide it, but this is still a very good scene. Megan's playful side comes out nicely and I love the cars driving by in the background. I also love how it looks like she has a very real orgasm and then keeps going while making sure the camera gets as much as possible. This is a very nice final scene.

Megan Video Letters to Alaska 4 continues the series while also growing it. This series has been and continues to be as good as it is for two reasons. The first, of course, is the emotion. You can feel how much Megan misses her husband through the videos she's sending him and how much she wants to be with him. The other thing that makes it work is Megan's sexual growth, some of which is prompted by suggestions her husband makes that he'd like to see. She starts off the series fairly shy and grows little by little sexually through the series up to the point of wanting to try something riskier with the public masturbation in this installment. For that reason, public sex fans will definitely want to check this one out since you can feel how nervous she is about it, but to really get the full effect here one has to start at the beginning (which I very strongly recommend). If there's a complaint here it's in the start of the second half of the movie, which gets a little wordy and also is very hard to hear due to some background noise. At the same time, the movie is so personal that it feels like you're really missing something by not being able to get it all. I don't know that I'd recommend anybody to start this series with this installment, but if you've enjoyed the rest of Megan's series you should find plenty more to like with Megan: Video Letters to Alaska 4.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, most DVDs can be found for about $20 at Shot at Home's website. This one is well worth the money, but please don't start the series here (and the previous episodes are worth the money just as much). The technical aspects are pretty average for a homemade release, and as usual with Shot at Home there's a bit of effort put into the extras with their bonus reel. This is a very nice movie on a DVD that shows some decent care.

Note to Shot at Home: With how much of a 'commitment' this series can be, you might want to consider releasing something like a box set of it.
