Megan Video Letters to Alaska 3 Review

NOTE: This is an amateur video. Amateur and homemade movies don’t have the budget nor the resources of studio porn, and therefore rarely get close to the same quality technically. I’m rating this DVD on the same scale, but most homemade or amateur features would rarely make it above a 3 on the standard scale I use for studio porn for their technical aspects. The performers also aren’t normally the ‘glamour stars’ one expects from studio porn, and instead use people who look like somebody you might encounter in your day to day life. Finally, the camera work has a different feel, as it’s often shot from a tripod or with somebody who doesn’t have the technical training or experience of professional cameramen. That said, amateur and homemade features have a great charm to them, simple because the people in them are doing what they’re doing to have fun and because they enjoy it. All the things that separate them from studio porn contribute to that charm, I hope people will keep that in mind when checking out this review and not just look at the ratings as the ultimate word on this release. Since the technical aspects are normally lacking and there normally isn’t much for extras in amateur features, I’ve weighted my overall rating more heavily towards the sex than I do in most studio porn.

Initial Expectations: This has easily been my favorite solo girl amateur video series out there. I can't help but look forward to this one.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are pretty well done for a homemade movie shot from a tripod with the person in front of it operating the camera the entire time. The audio has a little hiss in the background, but is nothing new for anybody who used an earlier video camera. There are a few minor problems with the audio, but they're mostly limited to a phone conversation. Thankfully, there aren’t any background noises that interfere with the action otherwise. The video is pretty well done. There’s a bit of grain, but Megan does a good job keeping the camera focused where she wants it. There are a few minor aiming problems, but for a girl pleasing herself with a remote control camera on a tripod it's pretty darn good. The action is nicely lit, and the zooms are easy on the eyes.

Watermark Warning: Although the normally don’t bother me much, there is a small and tasteful watermark warning that stays in the lower left corner. This made it very easy to filter out for me, and quite honestly, I didn’t notice it unless I thought about it.

Menus: The menus are pretty simple. The main menu keeps Shot at Home’s usual style with their logo and a photo from the movie. The chapter menu is also simple, and lets you choose where to go in the movie based on six stills.

The Feature

When Megan’s husband’s job takes him to Alaska for a couple months, they decide to give things a more personal touch by sending each other videos rather than just writing letters. Megan looks to be close to thirty, and is very nice looking with long brown hair and brown eyes. She takes a little time in front of the camera each day to tell him what’s going on back home, and sometimes gives him a little show that every husband would hope for.

Not surprisingly, plenty of little details change from segment to segment. Megan’s clothes vary from business attire to jeans and a bikini to a sundress to a fetishy dress, depending on what she has going on. Her moods also vary quite a bit, sometimes being playful and sometimes seeming like she can barely keep her eyes open. The only thing that doesn’t seem to change is the longing and love Megan has for her husband.

Scene 1 - Megan

Megan starts things out in a black shirt and businesslike gray and black checkered outfit talking about her rough day at work. Later she talks about her night out at the bar playing with another guy while wearing a sexy black number and playing with her pussy. Megan looks to give herself a nice orgasm before apologizing to her hubby and pausing the camera so she can change into something else because the fetishy dress she's wearing is a bit too hot for her. She changes into a pink and black bikini with ripped up jeans before catching him up with some of the happenings around the house.

This is a great scene. Megan looks great in both her outfits and you can see her really getting turned on as she plays with herself telling the bar story. That said, there's two ways to see this scene. If you're just coming into the series with this installment (which I wouldn't recommend, by the way), this is a pretty hot scene with a sexy middle aged woman pleasing herself and getting turned on by telling her husband about getting it on with another guy. If you've watched the previous scenes in the series, then this is a much hotter scene because you can see how much Megan's opened up. Watching this scene that way, this not only comes off as a darn hot masturbation scene but as a bit of a milestone for Megan. This is a great way to start out the third installment of this great series.

Scene 2 - Megan

After a couple times talking about work and what's going on, Megan calls hubby wearing her opening outfit for some camera captured phone sex. She lays back and strips down a little to play with her pussy naturally before hoisting up her shirt so she can play with her tits too. Megan keeps the phone braced so she can talk to hubby the entire time and gives herself a nice orgasm or two before finally saying goodbye.

This is another great sequence. The phone sex is very hard to hear with how softly Megan talks, but the emotions come across loud and clear. She looks fantastic once again, and for a camera stuck on a tripod she controls it very well with the remote. This is another very nice solo scene.

Scene 3 - Megan

Megan puts on a sun dress for the sex segment and enjoys a smoke while talking about anal sex, shopping, and gardening. This is yet another very nice little scene. I love how Megan starts the segment out talking about anal sex and then lets Hubby know about some of what's been happening before letting him watch some. She takes it in the ass very well with the toy, and adding the second toy was a great little extra surprise. This is a very nice little scene that helps this installment end just as hot as it started.

Megan: Video Letters to Alaska 3 shows the charm that has won many of us over to amateur movies extremely well. This series is a bit different with all of the time spent by Megan letting her husband know what's been happening while he's away working, but while I can see some people not liking that, for me it added plenty of charm, personality, and for a solo movie, chemistry. The sex here picks up nicely from the previous episode, with Megan seeming to be loosening up a bit and more eager to try new things. I love how she got into the bar story while masturbating, and the anal masturbation at the end was just as nice. She also has a nice handle on working the video camera remote throughout the movie, which helps the action to be captured very nice and with few limitations. Megan: Video Letters to Alaska 3 takes the series a step forward by making it seem like it's becoming a sexual journey, and it's a journey I definitely want to watch.

Currently, most DVDs can be found for about $20 at Shot at Home's website. If you're a fan of this series, this one's going to be well worth the money. Megan is as hot as ever, and seems to be growing very well sexually. The technical aspects are a touch weaker than normal here due to the phone sex conversation being hard to pick up, but as usual Shot at Home put a touch of effort into their extras with some nice clips for other releases. As usual, Shot at Home and Megan make a great combination.
