The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects feel a little dated. The audio has a bit of a hiss in the background, which I think is the microphone picking up the video camera. There’s a couple minor background noises, but for the most part Megan is easy to hear and understand. The video also feels a little dated. There’s some very minor pixelation, but very little motion since Megan has a very good camera mount that she can adjust by remote control. The lighting is pretty good, and comes across at a very realistic level.

Music: None

Watermark Warning: Although the normally don’t bother me much, there is a small and tasteful watermark warning that stays in the lower left corner. This made it very easy to filter out for me, and quite honestly, I didn’t notice it unless I thought about it.

Menus: The menus are pretty simple. The main menu keeps Shot at Home’s usual style with their logo and a photo from the movie. The chapter menu is also simple, and lets you choose where to go in the movie based on six stills.

The Feature

When Megan’s husband’s job takes him to Alaska for a couple months, they decide to give things a more personal touch by sending each other videos rather than just writing letters. Megan looks to be close to thirty, and is very nice looking with long brown hair and brown eyes. She takes a little time in front of the camera each day to tell him what’s going on back home, and sometimes gives him a little show that every husband would hope for.

As one would expect, Megan appears in a different outfit each time she goes in front of the camera. Sometimes she appears fully dressed in shorts and a shirt, and others she shows up just wearing something like her bra and her man’s boxer shorts. Her time in front of the camera varies quite a bit as well. Sometimes she just lets him know what’s going on and gives him a few messages, and others she gives him a little show.

Scene 1 - Megan

Megan’s first “scene” has her showering for the camera. It’s the first time she bares all for the camera, and she talks to it a little before hopping into the shower. This is a fantastic scene. The shower comes off as very natural, and then it moves into a bit of uncertainty with the shaving. There are a few times when she seems to know just what she likes, but many others where it seems like she’s new to it and trying to find what works best. Scene 2 - Megan

Megan starts her second scene lying on the bed in her bathrobe. She loses the robe and adjusts the pillows so she can comfortably lie back and play with her pussy. It’s not about seeing how many chopsticks one can fit in your orifices (I’m not sure if Megan likes Chinese or not). It’s about the passion, and that passion permeates the entire being of Megan’s video letters to her husband as his job takes him from their home to Alaska for a few months. Megan’s love for her husband is obvious within minutes of the movie starting, and that feeling never leaves the movie. You can tell that there’s few things that would make her as happy as turning off the camera because he just walked through the door wanting to wrap his arms around her and just hold her on their couch. The video letter is much more than just a masturbation video that she sends him to help him keep warm, and actually ends up having very little sexual activity in it. Yes, Megan teases him a little and gives him a couple shows, but if one’s just looking for spanking material this is probably a horrible choice. If one’s looking for something with true passion and love, however, there’s few movies that I’ve seen where it comes across as well as it does here, and none of them have been solo girl features like this is. The limited sex is about the only thing I can see anybody having a complaint about, and even that isn’t a complaint here due to the love and longing that Megan radiates every time she takes the screen. Megan: Video Letters to Alaska 1 definitely won’t be for everybody, but if it does work for you, you should be ready to pick up the entire series.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, most DVDs can be found for about $20 at Shot at Home’s website. This one’s well worth the money, and has a passion that I’ve seen in very few other movies. The technical aspects are a bit weak, but pretty average for a homemade movie. As usual, there’s a little extra footage that Shot at Home has included that helps their releases rise about the average amateur DVD. This is a very nice DVD that I can’t help but recommend.

Note to Shot at Home: This is a series that I can see people becoming very involved in. You might consider offering two or three packs for this series.
