Craven Moorehead's Meet the Batemans is best described as an extended vignette feature adult movie that sadly feels like a rip off of Kay Brandt's Babysitting the Baumgartners, due to the proximity of release, the title sounding an awful lot like Selena Kitt's novella Meet the Baumgartners, and the babysitter theme. The rushed and incomplete feel that Meet the Batemans has doesn't work in the movie's favor either.

The theme for Meet the Batemans is that Nina (Nina North) answers an advert for a babysitter and is invited to interview with the Batemans (Brandi Love and Seth Gamble) for the position. She finds out that the Batemans aren't really looking for a babysitter, but instead are looking for a submissive for their sexual play.

After the theme is rushed through, the movie goes into what is an essentially an hour long sex scene, which never really jibes with the set-up for the sex scenes at all. There isn't any point during the sex scene where Nina appears to be filling the role of a submissive nor is there any point where either of the Batemans appear to be domineering. The sex scene, while enjoyable, comes across as a standard threesome scene. Viewers who enjoy all sex movies and like the cast will definitely enjoy the sex scene but any viewer that was hoping that Meet the Batemans would fulfill even on a vignette level will be disappointed with the movie as a whole.

Despite the over an hour run time, at the end of Meet the Batemans the viewer is left feeling that they had just seen the very long beginning to a movie and not a complete project ultimately leaving the plot-oriented viewer unfulfilled. With one exception, the movie is well shot and well put together. The one exception is that the phone numbers on the sheet tacked onto a telephone poll looking for a babysitter have been blurred out and the number called on the phone was blurred out. Blurring in a movie just looks bad and cheap. The phone scene could have been shot so the screen wasn't in view. The sheet blurring is even odder since they could have put any phone number on the sheet, even 867-5309. So why they would have put a phone number on the advert that required blurring is beyond this reviewer.

Ultimately, the extended sex scene is nicely shot and the cast does a good job with it, however, it just doesn't live up to the promise in the set-up and the plot seems to just suddenly end at what seems to the viewer to be the beginning of the movie. It is hard to recommend that someone seek out this title but there are far worse ones out there.

Meet the Batemans was shot digitally and Pretty Dirty has done a nice job with their streaming and download release. Meet the Batemans is presented in the anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1 in 1080p. The image quality for Meet the Batemans is beautiful. There aren't any noticeable defects in the video and the colors look beautiful. There is a PrettyDirty.com bug in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Meet the Batemans is presented with an English Stereo audio track. The only issue with the audio is a hiss that is present throughout the movie. The dialog in the movie is clear and easy to understand at all times.

Meet the Batemans is essentially an hour long sex scene with a quick set-up that makes promises that the sex scene never manages to live up to. Add to this that the movie feels like it was rushed and you have an average all sex scene that is easy to skip unless you are a diehard fan of one or more of the cast members. Pretty Dirty has done a good job with their streaming and download version of Meet the Batemans with beautiful video quality and a good audio presentation.
