NOTE: This is an amateur video. Amateur and homemade movies don’t have the budget nor the resources of studio porn, and therefore rarely get close to the same quality technically. I’m rating this DVD on the same scale, but most homemade or amateur features would rarely make it above a 3 on the standard scale I use for studio porn for their technical aspects. The performers also aren’t normally the ‘glamour stars’ one expects from studio porn, and instead use people who look like somebody you might encounter in your day to day life. Finally, the camera work has a different feel, as it’s often shot from a tripod or with somebody who doesn’t have the technical training or experience of professional cameramen. That said, amateur and homemade features have a great charm to them, simple because the people in them are doing what they’re doing to have fun and because they enjoy it. All the things that separate them from studio porn contribute to that charm, I hope people will keep that in mind when checking out this review and not just look at the ratings as the ultimate word on this release. Since the technical aspects are normally lacking and there normally isn’t much for extras in amateur features, I’ve weighted my overall rating more heavily towards the sex than I do in most studio porn.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects look very nice, especially for an amateur movie. The audio is clear and nicely balanced for the most part. It also contains very few background noises. The video is very similar. It has a very small amount of grain that’s barely noticeable and is well lit. There’s a few remnants throughout the movie, but they’re few and far between. For an amateur movie, this one looks and sounds great.

Music: None

Disc Complaint: There’s a watermark in the lower right corner of the screen. I mention it here because I know that a lot of people really hate watermarks. On the plus side, it’s clear and it stays there consistently throughout the feature so that you can put it out of your mind fairly easily.

Menus: The menus are nicely done. The main menu has a very nice feel complete with a small clip from the movie. The chapter menu keeps that feel and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene.

The Feature

It’s time for VD, and we’re not talking about the one that requires a shot of penecillian. Instead we’re talking about the florist and confectioner’s favorite holiday, Valentine’s Day. Mandi and Alex have plans, and she’s going to make sure everything’s ready for them.

Scene 1 - Mandi*

Mandi starts things out getting ready for a bath. She strips down, pulls her hair back, and slides into the tub. She lathers up her luscious leg before shaving it, and then turns her attention to her pussy. She shaves her stubbly bush while feeling around to make sure she doesn’t have any wild hairs left. This is a nicely done scene. To start with, there’s Mandi, who as usual is cute as can be and who plays to the camera very nicely. Mandi gives the scene the feel of something that a girlfriend might send their boyfriend in a long distance relationship, smiling and laughing girlishly while looking like she’s enjoying every minute. The camerawork is also very nicely done, and mixes together plenty of close-ups with plenty of distance shots so that you’re pretty much guaranteed to get the view you want. This is a great way to start things out.

Scene 2 - Mandi* and Alex

Mandi begins the second scene running another bath while lighting candles around it. They enjoy a little Sprite and the jacuzzi tub before breaking out the Redi-Whip and cherries. They play lightly before Mandi bends over to suck Alex’s cock, and even breaks out the whipped cream and cherries for him. They continue to play with the cherries and whipped cream as they warm each other up before heading out of the tub and to the bedroom.

In the bedroom, Mandi’s changed to some hot red lingerie to wait while Alex brings her a box of chocolates. As Forest might say, sex is like a box of chocolates. Sometimes you get a cherry, and sometimes you get the maple cream you wish you hadn’t tried and spit across the room. Anyway, I don’t think there’s anybody getting a cherry here, as Mandi quickly works her mouth around Alex’ manhood. They work in a bit of sixty-nining before Mandi climbs aboard the Alex express. They keep going with a bit of missionary work and a few other positions before Mandi finishes things up in true pornstar fashion taking the cumshot to the eye. This is a very enjoyable scene. I love the playful start in the jacuzzi tub, and the sex in the bedroom flows very nicely as well. I know I shouldn’t, but I even enjoyed the pop shot to the eye at the end, partially because it’s handled with the reality that you never really see and partially because Mandi gives it such a great reaction. This is a very nice scene.

There are some things you expect from an amateur movie, and some things you don’t. Two of the main things you expect from an amateur movie are chemistry and a natural feeling, which Me and My Valentine deliver extremely well. I love Mandi’s spirit through the entire feature. She has a playful smile and laughing smiles which easily raise things up (and not just the movie) almost every instance she’s on the screen. She’s also very easy to relate to. She’s the ultimate girl next door rather than looking like some porn star who has a frequent visitor card from the nearest plastic surgeon. Through the shaving, masturbation, foreplay, and finally sex, Mandi makes the entire feature very enjoyable, and even shows that sex doesn’t always go exactly perfectly. Yes, there’s a few problems, and some of them add to the charm. There’s still some of the usual amateur video problems such as a little camera shake, a few soft focus blurs, and a bit of rough editing. There’s also a few minor sexual mishaps which add a little to most amateur movies. I know those problems will interfere with the movie for some people, but here it just adds to some of the character. They’re like the nicks that add a little character to a wood floor rather than turning into flaws on linoleum. The charm in Me and My Valentine helps it easily ride over the minor bumps, and makes it a very enjoyable amateur movie.

The Extra Stuff

The photo gallery lasts over six minutes and includes nearly one hundred nice looking photos. There’s also a preview lasting roughly a minute and a commercial for Pixie’s Emporium.

Currently, many DVDs from Pixie’s Emporium can be found online for around $13. If you’re looking for something light and romantic, this one’s going to be well worth the money. There isn’t much for extras, but the movie’s fun and the technical aspects are very good for amateur movies.
