The Short Story

Initial Expectations: I haven’t been overly impressed with what I’ve seen from Anarchy Films. I’m not going in with too high of hopes here.

Initial Reaction: There’s some hot sex, but the camera work and editing hold back almost every scene.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody wanting straightforward boy - girl sex

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting a lot of the anal, ass to mouth, and cream pie action listed on the front cover

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are a bit of a mixed bag. During the sex, the audio is pretty good. There’s a few background noises during the outdoor scenes and the balance during the interviews was often a bit off. The video is pretty good. There’s a small amount of pixelation which is barely even noticeable. The lighting is a bit more problematic at times, as there’s a few places where the lighting causes some bleaching, tinting, and a few very noticeable shadows.

Music: There’s music during the tease portions of the movie, but that’s it. At those points it’s the only audio, and does work pretty good for introducing the girl to the camera.

False Advertising: I’m starting to think that an Anarchy DVD without deceptive or false advertising on the cover is kinda like a sandwich without Miracle Whip. It just isn’t the same. Here it’s the running time. The cover lists a running time of 140 minutes while the movie doesn’t even make it to two hours. If you add the trailers and all the extras it gets there, but I don’t know of anybody who looks at a running time on a cover and expects that to include trailers and other things that you might not be interested in. Twenty five minutes difference between the movie and what’s advertised is enough to fit in another whole scene, and I wouldn’t blame anybody for feeling ripped off because of it. One could also complain about the claim of cream pies on the cover, as there’s only one cream pie in the entire movie, not more than one which calls for the plural form. Due to these misleading claims, I’m deducting a half point from the overall score of the DVD.

Menus: The menus aren’t too bad. The main menu has a little animation that gives a decent first impression. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a scene number, and goes the extra mile by letting you choose between jumping to the oral, the sex, or the cumshot in each scene.

The Feature

Maximum Hard keeps a vignette feel to go with it’s magazine inspired cover. Each scene starts out with a little tease from the girl and then moves on to an interview between the girl and Corey Jordan. Finally, each girl gets it on with a guy.

Scene 1 - Alaura Eden and Brett Rockman

After talking with Corey a little, Alaura gives him a show and even lets him play with her bald beaver and ass. After sucking the remnants of each of her holes of Corey’s fingers, Brett arrives and Alaura turns her oral attentions to his oversized cock. She sucks him and lets him fuck her nicely natural titties before laying back for Brett to work on her pussy with his tongue and cock. This is an okay scene. Alaura gets into it every bit as well as one would expect, but the camera work held it back much of the time. The reverse cowgirl was captured well, but the missionary often went between a close-up and odd angles where you couldn’t really see anything. Some of the time it even seemed more focused on Brett than it did on either Alaura or the sex as a whole. This is an okay scene, and sadly it had the potential to be much, much more than that.

Scene 2 - Cindy Crawford and John West

Cindy starts things out in a bikini with long black hair extensions, a huge diamond on a nose stud, and enough dark eyeliner that she almost looks like an urban raccoon. Thankfully she keeps her usual great smile and attitude. She’s joined by John West, and after a hard kiss quickly moves down to suck his cock while giving him some great eyes. This is another okay scene. This is the worst I think I’ve ever seen anybody make Cindy look, but she still puts out a great scene. She really looks to be into the sex, and puts in nice energy and very nice and believable vocals. Unfortunately, the camera work and editing hold it back from reaching its full potential. The camera work is done in a style that looks like they were trying for a cable release. More often than not it’s a mix of shots that show a bunch of Cindy but none of the penetration and gyno-cam shots of the penetration. It’s not a style that every really works for me, but Cindy made it work pretty well.

Scene 3 - Faith Grant and Alex Sanders

Faith teams up with Alex for her fourth scene. She plays with herself gently before agreeing that a cock in her mouth might help her get off better. Scene 4 - Courtney Devine and Tyler Durden

Courtney moves around enough that the scene wasn’t help back quite as much here as in other scenes, but it still holds the scene back from a bit.

Scene 5 - Giselle and Trevor Zen

Giselle teams up with Trevor for her fifth scene. She starts out letting Corey play with her pussy, and he keeps playing while Giselle sucks Trevor’s cock. Throughout the entire oral portion of the scene the camera was so close or far away that you could barely see anything. Heck, you couldn’t even tell who the guy was with Giselle until she climbed up to ride him because the camera never showed you his face until then! This scene gave me good reason to break out the fast forward button despite Giselle putting some nice effort into the scene.

Maximum Hard is a pretty good disappointment. All the credit for the movie making it as far as it did goes entirely to the cast. They really do a good job here. There’s nice chemistry, nice energy, and nice vocals in every one of the scenes. Unfortunately, the camera work, and to a lesser point the editing, hold every single scene back. The camera work seems like it was shooting with a cable release in mind, and because of it a good portion of the penetration shots are shown as close-ups where you can’t see anything else. It does give you a couple angles on each position, but normally at least one of them is next to useless. Alaura and Giselle’s scenes are by far the worst for camera work, and at times I wondered if anybody was even paying attention to where the camera was pointed as you couldn’t see the girl’s face or the penetration! Maximum Hard has potential, but never makes it there due to the people behind the camera not looking like they know what they’re doing.

The Extra Stuff

The photo gallery contains roughly fifteen very nice looking snapshots which you can advance through at your own speed or will advance on their own roughly every five seconds. Trailers are included for Anal Fever, Up Your Bum, London Shaggers, Internal Explosions, Fat Fuckers, Young Euro Fever, Anal Fever 2, and Young Hip Huggers Dripping Wet. There’s also web links, DVD credits, and a behind the scenes featurette.

The behind the scenes featurette lasts about fifteen minutes. There’s interviews with most of the girls, as well as director Corey Jordan. Cindy Crawford and Faith Grant also give a little tease, and you get to see some of the photo shoots and the stars getting prepped in fast forward mode. The fast forward shoots don’t always work the best, and there’s also more than a few problems with the audio balance. You can barely hear Cindy Crawford, and the guy behind the camera comes off way too loud throughout almost the entire featurette. It’s a pretty good featurette and does a nice job of showing the personality of many of the people involved with the movie as well as the moving being made.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of Anarchy’s DVDs can be found online for between about $10 and $20 with many stores offering them for under $15. At the low end this one isn’t too bad of a buy. The camera work lacks in each scene, but there’s still some nice heat to the movie. The technical aspects are above average, and there’s even a bit of effort put into the extras. This is a pretty good disc.

Note to Anarchy Films: A little more effort towards your audio balance and a little more honesty towards your covers would take you a long way. A better cameraman would also be nice. You did a nice job picking the talent here, but the best talent in the world making the most passionate sex ever can be held back tremendously by the people behind the camera not knowing what they’re doing.
