Masquerade (Wicked) Review

After giving top notch reviews to European films like THE FUGITIVE, SEX SLIDERS, CALL GIRLS and other Private releases, I thought that I had already made up my mind as to what were some of the very best DVDs I had seen for the past year. It's not that I am at all partial ot European videos (in fact, some of their most extreme stuff kind of nauseates me), or even favor European women, but I have yet to be dissapointed with anything produced from Private, unlike a great many American releases, most of which are just mediocre, uninspired junk. However, Europorn can get dull sometimes: on-screen sex is performed so proficiently that it almost becomes an emotionless experience. Nevertheless, give me gorgeous women, skilled camera work, condom-less fucking, and high production values any day over the crap which so many video companies unashamedly dish out.

So when asked to review a non-Private European DVD, I was wondering if any other video company could maintain the high standards which we have come to expect from film-makers like Pierre Woodman, Frank Thring and Nic Cramer. As it turns out, this release from Wicked, is a Marc Dorcel production, a company which has been in the blue business for a long, long time and is known for some of the hottest adult French films ever released. I recall first being exposed to "Video de Marc Dorcel" many years ago (during the historical "Reagan Revolution") when his movies appeared on one of those dreadful, six hour EP-speed compilation tapes put out by rip- off video manufacturers of the eighties (actually, crappy compilations are still going on strong even in the DVD format). But what was absolutely remarkable about Dorcel's videos among a remaining five hours of throwaway porn (mostly from American video companies), was how pretty damn hot the sex was, how gorgeous the women were (especially stereotypically blonde and blue- eyed Marilyn Jess, who was prominently featured in TRACI, I LOVE YOU), and how well-composed and well-photographed all the scenes were (and, boy, did I regret ever loaning that tape out to a friend years later, who claims to have "misplaced" it!).

Well, I have now become a renewed Marc Dorcel devotee with the absolutely terrific MASQUERADE, a shot on-video feature directed by Michel Barny. This feature is jam-packed with model- perfect women, including Anita Blonde and Anita Dark, two Eurosluts (one is a blonde, the other is a brunette...can you guess which hair color belongs to who?) who have also found popularity in the States, but whose elegant beauty and lack of artifical enhancements put fan favorites like Janine and Julia Ann to shame. However, whereas a typical Private video But the star of the movie is the beautiful Laure Sinclair, a sexual fiend who looks like the naively innocent girl next door (unforunately, she's no around my neighborhood...), that is, until she opens her mouth among other body cavities for our voyeuristic pleasure. She appears in the majority of the movie, but every one of her encounters is hot, hot, hot!

Altogether, there are ten chapters, broken down as ten straight scenes only a single all-girl menage a trois vignette. Those looking for multpile girl, single guy combinations will be a little let down with this video; however, I didn't notice anything missing in this movie until after my third or fourth viewing. Let me assure you that every scene is excellent, with each performer going at it like crazed weasels and with almost every money shot an oral, facial or somewhere in between. Especially noteworthy scenes include a girl-guy tryst withe Anita Blonde, who seems impatient to suck cock and bounces on cock like a pogo stick. The captures her beautifully, and she looks even better when spread eagled on a bed. It's hard to believe that a woman who looks like she belongs on the runway in Paris wearing [ridiculous-looking] designer fashions is actually doing dirty movies! Simply amazing...

An all girl threesome begins with a naturally busty blonde dominatrix putting Ms. Sinclaire through a tortuing ritual of tit-sucking and clit- licking, before a simply gorgeous olive-skinned brunette playing a sexy French maid enters the picture and takes over [sorry, I couldn't identify who in the cast played what part and the biographies and end credits certainly don't help]. Unlike most girl-girl scenes, where the participants immediately head for the croth or break out the Doc Johnson Toys, this scene takes its own sweet time in building up the eroticism. The maid gently licks at Laure's lips before kissing her full on the mouth, and lots of gently carressing, rubbing and stroking ensue before the inevitable carpet-munching. When all three come together to party, the scene ends rather quickly; for once, I would have loved for the director to have drawn out the sex a little while longer. Still, the few minutes we do get with Laure and the brunette are almost enough to satisfy. Both women also share the final scene (but not each other), where Laure takes on two guys for a pretty good DP, but the brunette is stuck with some Euro guy who seems to be having plumbing problems, beginning with a flacid cock even though she has her luscious mouth all over it and ending without a cumshot. Although there are clear shots of her riding on him reverse cowgirl style, and then taking it in the rear doggy- style, the scene ends as soon as Laure's studs release their loads (as soon as I do more research so I can identify who the other girl is, you can be sure that I will be buying up some of her titles).

Again, I cannot stress enough great these women look. If you prefer over-inflated chests, graffiti-like tattoos and piercings which resemble the bad guy from HELLRAISER, then don't even bother renting, let alone buying, this DVD. However, if you enjoy seeing women dressed to the nines, strutting around in high heels, and made up to look more sophisticated and gorgeous as opposed to slutty and skanky, then this release is for you...and did I mention all the cute girls in the movie?

The features on this DVD are the standard affair: photo gallery, biographies, chapter selection, and language choices (good for those who wanted to know how to moan and have orgasms in either French, German or Spanish), but for a feature presentation this good, no extras are needed.

MASQUERADE is a winner of a film and highly recommended!
