Now my wife is no social anthropologist, but she is still a woman, and she knows a thing or two about female sexuality.  This quote of hers brings to the forefront some of the "post-porn" philosophy behind Elegant Angel director, Mason's, work in pornography.  No one is saying that all women like Mason's kind of sex, and no is saying that they should like her kind of sex, but there is a strong argument out there to support that they should be allowed to like her kind of sex.  With her relatively small, but powerful body of work, Mason seems to be saying, "let's not confuse what you like, with what I like," meaning perhaps, "leave your overdeveloped concern for the 'helpless' woman at the door, and accept that what you are about to see is as valid a form of sexual expression as anything else.  Judge it on its merits in terms of arousal and eroticism, not on your antiquated, programmed, chivalric ideas of benevolent power."  Too high minded an idea for porn?  Perhaps--but I think I can tell you this:  I'm pretty sure Mason doesn't think so.

INTRODUCTION:
Mason's Dirty Trixxx #2 is the sequel to Mason's AVN award winning original--and to put it mildly, this one is a barn burner.  I've been a close follower of Mason since she started as a director and I have certainly found a lot to like.  Not only does her work cater to my penchant for the more aggressive side of sex, but she actually brings an intellectual philosophy to her work as well.  This serves to keep both my mind and my ... er... hand busy simultaneously and I have to admit to having mixed feelings about that.  In some ways, I find what Mason does to be decidedly non-sexual.  In some ways her work is an amazing turn on.  It's hard not to get caught up in the hows and whys of material of this kind and in some ways that can act as a detriment to the sexual side of the experience.  Mason is going on a journey, and she is taking us with her whether we like it or not.  Is this really porn, or is it something else?  For me it's both at the same time, and one aspect does not necessarily compliment the other.

SCENE 1:
CASSIE, FIONA CHEEKS & CRAIG MOORE
The Girls

Mason and Fiona sit in a car.  Mason is in the driver's seat and Fiona is crouched in the back.  They have evil, nasty plans for little Cassie, who they are waiting for outside of a building that Mason claims she always frequents.  Sure enough Cassie appears, and Fiona crouches down to hide from her.  Mason calls Cassie over and gets her into the car.  Cassie is allegedly quite the "stuck up little bitch" as Mason makes conversation about sorority pledging, cheerleader tryouts and stuck up college girls.  Before long, Cassie realizes that Mason is indeed going the wrong way, and Fiona jumps her from the back seat.  Cassie is suitably upset by this turn of events while Fiona hikes Cassie's shirt up and exposes her breasts.  Both Fiona and Mason let loose a tidal wave of "whore" talk, they make Cassie expose herself, and they taunt her about being the perfect little sorority girl.

This is a very extended "you're gonna get it" sequence in the car and Fiona is not afraid to tell Cassie about all the sexual deeds that will be required of her.  This may sound intense, and make no mistake... it is.  Mason still maintains a fair amount of good humor here, though, which speaks to the obvious play acting aspects of the scene--an important ingredient that makes Mason's work stand out as fairly unique.  They finally arrive at an unidentified house (the same house, incidentally used in Katie Morgan's scene in Mason's Dirty Trixxx #1) where Cassie, courtesy of Fiona's "gentle" introduction, meets the man she's going to fuck.  There's a hysterical moment before the proper introduction, when Cassie asks Fiona if her hair is ok.  Fiona, as you might imagine, doesn't react well to this.

I really don't know.  A legitimate fantasy?  Absolutely.  This is the idea that I kept wanting to see portrayed here.  That never came about though, as too much time and energy was spent on rapid fire action, transitions, and an apparent "fear-of-boredom" that we didn't really have a chance to take in the situational sexuality presented.  Sexual dominance didn't seem to take a center stage as much as just plain dominance did.  Regardless of what I kept wanting to see, however, what I did see wasn't bad at all.  I was certainly aroused, but there were a few moments when that overwhelming evidence of play acting temporarily suspended my suspension of disbelief.

In antithesis to my high minded gobbelty-guck, my wife's knee jerk reaction to this scene was "Yah!!  Good scene, honey!"  She wasn't too attracted to Craig Moore, but admitted that in this particular scene, that really wasn't as important as the dynamic between the two girls.  There were some individual moments that she especially liked, which included the hair-in-the-door "bondage", the hair pulling transitions, and especially the moment when Fiona and Craig are kissing quite passionately while Cassie is laying underneath servicing both of them.  My wife agreed with me that it would have been better if the tables had never turned between Cassie and Fiona, but she did think it was interesting watching Cassie think she was good at being a dom.  There was a spitting moment that stopped the flow of my honey's juice dead in it's tracks (she likes it rough, but wants it tidy, thank you very much), but things picked up again just as quickly and all in all, Mrs. MLyons gave this scene her thumbs up.

This is one of those rare instances where performance triumphed over my attraction for the performer.  The set up was very interesting... very degrading, and that's exactly what I loved about it.  Alexandra is well known as someone who enjoys the darker side of sex--and the humiliation and degrading aspects of it.  This scene, for me, started out rather dull... as I am not generally attracted to Alexandra.  I was expecting to just try to get through it.  At first, I was pretty well where I expected to be, although I appreciated the premise.  Even when Manuel entered, I was not too interested.  As the scene progressed, however, an amazing chemistry and dynamic seemed to establish itself between the two performers.  Manuel truly is a Rocco Siffredi Jr.  He is one of the most exciting and electrifying male performers to come on the scene in a long long time, and this scene, perhaps more than anything he's done previous, proves it.  Although Alexandra's dynamic was very important, and her limit pushing performance is amazing to watch, Manuel is the one who carries this scene, and by the time it was finished, I wasn't so much ready to orgasm as I was ready to catch my breath and marvel at this journey of true human emotion that I just witnessed.  Truly this delicate balance of eroticism, dominance, degradation, roughness, and raw authentic emotion must be what Mason is desperately trying to capture.  She did that without question here, but it didn't turn me on so much as it inspired awe.

The Gist - Mrs. MLyons
Mrs. MLyons felt similarly that there were definitely things to like about this scene.  She doesn't have too much attraction for Alexandra either, but she's finally coming around to being persuaded about all the good things that Manuel brings to the table.  Like me, my wife enjoyed this scene for its unique emotional energy, but like me she seemed to enjoy it more from a human behavior study standpoint than from a sexual one.  No doubt there will be many people who get off with glee to this scene, but my wife and I were too busy staring in frozen silence.

PRODUCTION QUALITY:
This is typical Mason fair--a hand held camera going wherever Mason's fancy carries it.  The locales are simple, but serve their purpose.  The lighting is fine, although it might have been nice if Alexandra's scene offered a bit more than the camera light that seemed the primary source.  With the need for the projection, and the interest in improvisational action, this is an understandably difficult problem, however.  The sound is very good, and it's easy to hear every nuance of even the sounds that Mason makes (which is normally the most problematic).  In any case, the production was in tandem with the type of improvisational sex that Mason likes to shoot, and there was nothing to complain about.  I still don't think the women look their best, but I understand that's just my personal taste showing through--and that this is likely part of the intended style of the movie as well.

DVD QUALITY:
The DVD quality is excellent.  The picture is very clear, the menus are first rate, and the sound is quite good.  There are many chapter stops within the scenes, and that is a really nice improvement of itself over past Elegant Angel titles.  Add to that a very good picture, and Elegant Angel really seems to be making some DVD strides.  I hope this attention to DVD production continues in this vein.  There's some minimal video imperfections here and there, but by and large, this is an excellently produced disc.

EXTRAS:
The extras on this disc are every bit as riveting as the movie itself--and perhaps just as important.  There is a full length director commentary where Mason and some of the performers reminisce about the various shoots, and the thoughts and emotions that went into them.  Julie Night and Alexandra Quinn each have particularly fascinating things to say about their respective scenes.  Additionally, there's a 35+ minute "making of" sequence that allows us to see some backstage moments with the performers, and some of what Mason says to the performers to prepare them for what lies ahead.  There's also a section where Steve Holmes runs into Mason and Alexandra before Manuel joins her to shoot their scene.  Steve does some naughty and erotic playing with Alexandra (including some spitting action that actually worked for me and my wife...).  There's a "bonus footage" selection that shows Manuel and Alexandra meeting in the car before their scene... and going at it hot and heavy before they even get to the shooting location.  Finally there's a bonus scene, originally from Lady Fellatio #2 (Olivia Saint), and some Trailers of more of Mason's movies.  Conspicuously absent from this disc is the photo gallery.  I actually missed it, as I look forward to seeing William H.'s photos.  They are much more interesting and well done than most studio's photo galleries, largely because William seems to take his time and do them right.  A photo gallery is not included on this disc though, and I have to say... although I'm usually indifferent about them, I kind of missed it here.

OVERALL:
This is some of the most intense and genuinely emotional sexual action that I've ever seen in porn.  It's also some of the roughest--and with my voyeuristic track record, that's saying an awful lot.  I can't say that it always turned me on, and I can't say that it always turned my wife on either.  And I certainly can't say with any confidence that it will turn YOU on.  I can say, however, that I found all of it fascinating if nothing else.  In terms of sexual heat, my wife and I agreed that the Cassie / Fiona scene was quite enjoyable--as was Ashley Moore's.  We both disliked Bella's scene greatly, but that was mostly because of our personal bias against projectile spit, and our lack of attraction for Bella.  Alexandra's scene was totally compelling, and powerfully sexual and emotional.  Again, though our lack of actual attraction for Alexandra prevented us from enjoying the scene in anything other than an intellectual way.  Finally, my wife and I both agree that Julie Night's scene was by far the best of the bunch.  Julie is a natural sexual performer and has a great body.  It takes real, honest to God inner strength to be able to perform for the camera like Julie and Alexandra did in this movie--to be willing to expose both their bodies, and their psyches in such a generous and powerful way.  I really do admire their fortitude, their courage, and their beauty as performers and as a sexually liberated spirits.  Unless I'm wrong, this is exactly the kind of sexual journey that Mason set out to take.  Although I'm still not sure it totally satisfies the desires of the average porn viewer, it certainly seems to offer more than just a quick means to sexual release.  Let this serve as a warning to you, gentle readers.  This one... is a doozy.
