It is a great pity that MSR Studios ceased production. They were an excellent studio and gave us some fine films. Indeed their WHITE TRASH is one of the best gay porn films ever made! Their demise is a complete mystery to me. I suppose it’s just another example of the incontrovertible rule of today” “if it’s good, they discontinue it.”

For their MANPLAY DOUBLE PACK Titan has rescued two of the MSR films directed by their legend-in-residence Joe Gage. CLOSED SET: THE NEW CREW and JOE GAGE’S SEX FILES # 1.

The reason this CLOSED SET is called THE NEW CREW is because some years earlier Joe Gage had directed a film called CLOSED SET along with a sequel CLOSED SET 2. Both were before my time and I have seen neither but I assume that like this one they consisted of hunky guys and crew engaged in an orgiastic free-for-all.

The action begins when Michael Brandon (he of the big dick) follows Carlos Morales into a warehouse where a naked Sean Storm is seated on the floor waiting for the cock which Carlos gives him. (The street scene was in widescreen so I was surprised and disappointed when it turned into full-screen film inside the warehouse.) With Michael’s arrival Sean now has his choice of cocks. Michael also sucks Sean and Carlos has a go at Michael’s big bone.

Ages ago I reviewed JOE GAGE’S SEX FILES #1; and although Emerson tells us that “a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds” I see no reason to change my opinion:

The subtitle is “Billy Bob’s Jack-off Party”. Billy Bob is seen setting up for the event—putting sheets on the furniture, setting out magazines and lube, etc.

This implies that there is going to be a #2, etc. Again in voice over, Billy Bob informs us, “And I think we’re going to do it again real soon.” In that event, Billy Bob, include me out.

Although neither film may be considered top-of-the-line, getting both for the price of one is not to be sneezed at. I only hope that Titan or some other compassionate company will do us all a service and rescue other of MSR’s films from undeserved oblivion.
