Audio /Video Quality: As usual with Jules Jordan behind the camera, the technical aspects are very strong. The audio is clear and well balanced, but surprisingly there's a very noticeable hiss in the background during the start of the second scene. The video is presented in anamorphic widescreen and looks great. It's clear and well lit with a very good hand on the camera and eye behind it.

Watermark Warning: Although I don't like to see watermarks, I don't blame studios for using them if they think it will stop piracy of their product if they can do it tastefully. Here, Jules Jordan Video does it fairly tastefully with a very small watermark in the lower right corner that stays stationary so that it's easy to filter out of one's mind. It would be better if it were a little lower and more to the side as it did start to intrude a few times and drew my eyes away from what they were wanting to see, but it's much better than some other watermarks I've seen.

AJ Applegate is fantastic in the final scene, and after finally seeing her in action after hearing all the hype I can definitely say that she's more than deserving of all the good things that have been said about her. Jessie Volt definitely starts things out on a high note, and I really liked the artistic touches with the back and white footage. I'm not sure how she managed to take Mandingo in her ass, but Jessie, Chastity Lynn, Vicki Chase, and Juelz Ventura all give up the ass very well. Juelz and Vicki especially stood out for me here, but that's nothing against Chastity (who's always solid in anal action). Jessie's scene easily had the most limited anal action, but it was still more than satisfying. That just leaves Allie Haze, and although she limits Mandingo to her pussy there's nothing that seems limited about her scene. From start to finish, there isn't a bad scene in this release.

The problem for me, and why I expected a lot more from Mandingo Unchained, is the cover. We've been graced with plenty of solid action from Mandingo and Jules Jordan in the Mandingo Massacre series, and that left me wanting more here. I don't know if I was expecting more intense scenes or longer scenes, but everything here seemed to be the same thing I'd expect from Mandingo Massacre. If anything the scenes are shorter, which leads me to my second problem... the movie is only two and a half hours long. I don't know how many single disc Jules Jordan releases I've watched that were longer than this with the same apparent audio and video quality. With this being proclaimed a Special Edition 2 Disc Set across the top of the cover and six girls in the movie, I don't think I'm alone in expecting this to be a three and a half to four hour release. Instead the main feature and behind the scenes featurette combined are much shorter than what's been put out on many other Jules Jordan DVDs for the feature alone. It appears that Jules is aware of this as well, as unlike so many of his other releases, this one doesn't give the running times on the back cover. Mandingo Unchained is a more than solid interracial release, but don't expect anything more or different than what you've come to expect in the single disc releases from the Mandingo Massacre series.

The Extras: Trailers are included for six other Jules Jordan Video releases. The photo gallery lasts about six minutes. There's also a behind the scenes featurette, cumshot recaps, and commercials.

The behind the scenes featurette lasts a little over ten minutes. Jules starts out snapping stills of AJ and chatting with her before moving on with a little extra footage between Allie and Mandingo. There's also a little extra footage with Chastity as well as some fun outtakes with Jessie trying to walk. Finally there's a little extra tease footage with Juelz as well as a bit more oral action from both Juelz and Vicki. This is a decent little behind the scenes featurette. There's nothing special here, but there is some good eye candy and a bit of fun. This is a decent addition to the overall release.

Final Thoughts: It's solid enough to be worth the purchase, but don't go in expecting anything more than what you'd get on a standard single DVD release.

Note to Jules Jordan Video: There's no question as to the quality of your scenes, but if you're going to do a double DVD release, please make it worth everyone's time and money rather than turning it into a fairly misleading gimmick.
