NOTE: This is an amateur video. Amateur and homemade movies don’t have the budget nor the resources of studio porn, and therefore rarely get close to the same quality technically. I’m rating this DVD on the same scale, but most homemade or amateur features would rarely make it above a 3 on the standard scale I use for studio porn for their technical aspects. The performers also aren’t normally the ‘glamour stars’ one expects from studio porn, and instead use people who look like somebody you might encounter in your day to day life. Finally, the camera work has a different feel, as it’s often shot from a tripod or with somebody who doesn’t have the technical training or experience of professional cameramen. The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: This is a homemade movie, and as usual with homemade movies the technical aspects are weak. The audio is surprisingly well balanced, and there were barely any background noises. The video is easily weaker as the camera work is being done by Mandi and Dustin as they get it on and neither of them are highly trained professionals. This leads to many camera shakes and a few focus and aiming problems. There’s also some grain and uneven lighting. All in all, the technical aspects are very average for a homemade movie.

Music: There’s a little music in the movie, but not nearly as much as one would expect from a Mandi Movie.

Menus: The main menu is pretty basic, and combines the boxcover with a bit of music. The chapter menu is much nicer, and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a title.

The Feature

Although Mandi, that cute little brunette Pixie we’ve come to know and love, said she wasn’t going to do any more movies, she and her boyfriend decided to do an at home shoot. Mandi Goes Gonzo is a nice fuck flick. I don’t think of it that much as a gonzo movie, as it’s a bit too personal and the camera work is all POV. Instead I think of it as a great homemade release. As such, it has all the things that make a homemade movie great. You have the intensely personal feel of the couple doing all the camera work themselves, more chemistry than you can shake a stick at, and even a nice tour of Mandi’s house. It’s a great feeling movie, and one that I think homemade porn fans will really enjoy. That said, I can also see people who haven’t checked out a homemade movie before being quite disappointed due to the technical aspects and the limitations that go along with Mandi and Dustin doing all the camera work themselves. Personally, as often happens with homemade movies, the chemistry and enthusiasm of the couple took the movie well past the limitations. Mandi Goes Gonzo won’t be for everybody due to its technical limitations, but I found it a refreshing little movie.

Currently, many of the DVDs from Pixie’s Emporium can be found online for about $15. If you’re a Mandi fan, this one’s well worth the money, but I don’t think I’d recommend it to Mandi newbies. The sex is very nicely done and there’s a little effort put into the extras, but as usual with homemade movies the technical aspects are weak. This is a nicely done homemade movie.

Note to Pixie’s Emporium: It’s great to see Mandi trying to go gonzo. Maybe next time you’ll get her to consider that anal cream pie... (just kidding)
