Malice in Lalaland is the first feature film to come from Miss Lucifer Productions and is loosly based on Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There. Malice (Sasha Grey), an inmate in a mental asylum, escapes with the help of Rabbit (Stephen Powers) into the desert where she runs into Chester Catz (Keni Styles) who brings her on a sexual odyssey. She is pursued by Jack Jabbowski (Dirty Fred), sent by Dr. Queenie (Andy San Dimas), who is intent on returning Alice to the asylum.

Instead of just being a porn adaptation of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There and inserting sex scenes into the existing narrative, Malice in Lalaland takes the general concept of Alice's journey and makes it into a modern day porn film where, for the most part, the sex scenes fit in with the narrative. Then again Malice in Lalaland is such a bizarre film, any way that the sex scenes are inserted could be argued as fitting with the narrative.

Malice in Lalaland is clearly a drug fuelled odyssey for Malice, even down to Keni Styles' Johnny Depp being Hunter S. Thompsonesque depiction of Chester Catz. The supporting non-sexual cast does a great job in their roles in the dark strange psychadellic world of Lalaland, especially Dirty Fred as the stymied pursuer, Ron Jeremy as Kater Pills the strip club owner and Cameron Sire as Matt Hadder the purveyer of sin.

The locations used for Malice in Lalaland are great. The desert scenes were shot in Palmdale Desert in California and creates a vast empty bright landscape for the world of Lalaland in contrast to the dark decrepid decaying landscape of the inside of the asylum. The rock soundtrack for the film helps create the trippy world of Lalaland. The score was composed by Mon 'S Jegers, also known as DJ Bonka, a Belgian artist and most of the songs in the film were performed by the Belgian band Aguardente. The music is over the sex scenes, which may frustrate some viewers.

Malice in Lalaland is beautifully filmed, taking full advantage of the CinemaScope presentation. Malice in Lalaland is an adult film that shouldn't be missed.

Miss Lucifer has done an amazing job with the release of Malice in Lalaland. The film which was shot on 35mm film — yes actual film not video — is presented in anamorphic widescreen in the aspect ratio of 2.35:1. The picture presentation here is beautiful with not a flaw to be found. The audio, an English Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo track, is fine. A 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround track is listed on the packaging but is not present on the disc.

There are several extras included, the first of which is the packaging itself. Presented in a small book form, the case holds pages with photographs and the story boards for Malice in Lalaland. There is a 52 minute behind the scenes by Keni Styles feature where Keni presents a video diary of the production. There is an option to play just the sex scenes in the movie, which lasts 45 minutes, and an option to just play the story portions of the movie, which lasts for 49 minutes. There is a featurette called “Ted and Todd's Rushes filmed by Sasha,” which lasts for 9 minutes and is the footage of Ted and Todd's porn scene. There is also a massive collection of still photographs in two galleries, one for production and one for adult.

Malice in Lalaland is a great adult film, which was actually shot on film, a rarity within the adult industry these days. As the title indicates, the film is an adaptation of Lewis Carroll's work. However, instead of being a carbon copy of the source material with sex scenes, Malice in Lalaland has its own unique story. Although the sex scenes are much longer than those in the golden age of adult cinema, this is well worth watching. Miss Lucifer has done a great job with the release as well.
