The Short Story

Initial Expectations: Veronica Hart has made some great features and Penthouse has impressed me enough in the past with their releases that I look forward to every movie of theirs I see. Putting the two of them together leaves me with very high expectations going into this one.

Initial Reaction: It's a bit light, but not bad.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are nicely done. The audio is clear and well balanced, and I didn't notice any background noises. The video is presented in anamorphic widescreen and also looks very nice. The lighting is natural, the camera work smooth, and there's no noticeable grain to interfere with the presentation.

Music: The music is nicely done. It varies in both style and balance throughout the movie, and although it sometimes seems a touch loud it helps the scenes much more than it hinders them.

Menus: The main menu combines a little animation with a few stills for an okay first impression. The chapter menu shows some nice care, and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene as well as the name of the girl in it.

The Feature

Steven St. Croix had a problem. There were just too many women in his life. After he dies, his three wives get together and look back at some of their time with him and reflect on what their lives might have been without him. Things take a little twist, however, when wife number four shows up...

After carrying her to the bed in her wedding gown, Steven gets it on with hot brunette India with her wearing some sexy white lingerie and her veil. This is a nice scene. It's a touch on the long side, but there's nice chemistry between Steven and India. This is a pretty hot scene. Nikki works the tease well and plays into the scene just as well. Thankfully Nikki is a strong enough performer to make the scene work, and it came out as a nice little interracial scene but also the weakest scene in the movie.

When maid of honor Holly breaks into the bathroom to pee where Steven's touching up after the wedding, he can't resist making a move. This is a pretty hot scene. The opening is extra dirty with them getting it on in the bathroom right after the wedding, and Holly puts out the ass every bit as well as usual. It also moves along at a nice pace and captures the limited space of fucking in a bathroom nicely. This is another nicely done scene.

After meeting yet another of Steven's women, Nikki, Holly, and India get it on with each other in another room. They kiss around a little before Holly gets in the middle eating India while Nikki eats her. Nikki moves up to ride India's tongue, and they keep moving around to give and get all around orally. Finally the girls share a kiss all around.

This is a very nicely done scene. The action never gets nasty, but there's nice chemistry among the girls and a great sense of longing as they miss their man. That emotion really drives the scene, and is helped out by music that fits the scene perfectly. This is one of the best scenes in the movie.

After the wives disappear Jack comes over and gets it on with hot blonde Shawna. She gets right down to suck his cock before getting back up to ride it cowgirl style. Shawna lays back for him to fuck her missionary style before getting on all fours to take it doggie style. Finally Jack pops on Shawna's ass and they kiss.

This is a hot final scene. Shawna hadn't impressed me much in the past, but she really does here. She looks great and puts out some great fucking and sucking from start to finish. I really wish she would have finished the scene with a facial, but even as it is it's quite nice. This is a very good scene to close the movie with.

Lucky Stiff is a nice little feature aimed at couples. The story is simple and little more than fluff, but sometimes that's just what one needs. There's nothing about the movie that feels particularly strong, but instead it just wants to tell a light story and have some fun sex. Shawna Lenee turns out the best scene in the movie, but there isn't any of the girls who does a bad job. I think Nikki Fairchild's scene might be the weakest, and that's just because Niko fell flat here and came across as not much beyond a pretty face. Lucky Stiff is a simple and somewhat predictable fuck flick, but those looking for lighter porn fare could do a lot worse.

The Extra Stuff

The photo gallery lasts about five and a half minutes with about give seconds per good looking snapshot. There's also a bonus scene with accompanying photo gallery and weblinks.

The bonus scene comes from Bitches. Mad scientist Derrick works his way around a body that's covered on a gurney before uncovering it to kiss brunette Alicia. This is an above average scene. Alicia looks very nice and seems to get into the fucking pretty good including some nice anal. I had a hard time getting into the scene due to the flashing lights around the “lab” and the slightly overly artistic feeling which interfered with the action a little much for me. It also had some slow motion footage that interfered with the flow of the scene. This isn't a bad scene, but I just couldn't get into it much.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many Penthouse DVDs can be found online for between about $17 and $25 with several stores offering them for around $20. Aim low here. The movie isn't bad, but there's nothing about it that warrants a high price tag. The sex and story are slightly above average, while the technical aspects show some nice attention and the technical aspects show a little effort. This is a nice little release but I don't know how much replay value it will have.

Note to Penthouse: Although this is a lighter release, thanks for not dumbing down your movies for couples.
