The Short Story

Initial Expectations: Michael Raven, Carmen Hart, and Randy Spears. The three of them are all extremely talented and I can't help but have very high expectations when all three are put together.

Initial Reaction: I can't remember the last time I watched a couples movie as romantic and fun as this one.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody wanting a light couples movie with some nice humor and emotion.

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting nastier sex or a heavy slapstick parody

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are nicely done. The audio is clear and well balanced, and I didn't notice any background noises. The video is presented in anamorphic widescreen and also looks very nice. There's just a touch of grain throughout the movie, and it combines with some very well done lighting to occasionally give the movie a touch of artistic style that enhances the scenes rather than interfering with them.

Music: The music is very nicely done. It has a light feeling and rests quietly in the background where it can help the scenes out rather than interfering with them.

Menus: The main menu blends the boxcover with a little minor animation for a decent first impression. As usual, the chapter menu doesn't show too much effort and just lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a scene number rather than giving the viewer something useful like the name of the performers in the scene.

The Feature

Michael Raven shows that he can do light romantic comedies every bit as well as the thrillers and sci-fi features he's so well known for with Love For the First Time. I'll admit that I was a little surprised to see him behind the camera for a lighter porn take on The 40 Year Old Virgin with Randy Spears taking over for Steve Carrell, but he quickly put those worries aside with the help of a nicely written script and a cast that does a fantastic job with the script. Randy Spears does his usual great job in his role, and is wonderfully backed up by Mr. Marcus as the good friend who can't stop masturbating in the back room at work and Barrett Blade as comic relief as the black boy trapped in a white boy's body. The girls do a great job as well with Carmen playing the shy female lead every bit as well as Randy does the male lead and Lindsey Meadows doing just as good of a job as the female friend determined to get her out in the world. The sex is also very nicely done, with each of the scenes having nice chemistry as well as a slightly artistic feeling. If there's a complaint here it's that the movie doesn't even last an hour and a half, but I can't really complain about that. Short as it is, Love For the First Time is also very tight and left me completely satisfied with a smile on my face from start to finish. Love For the First Time is a great little couples film, and one that I can't help but highly recommend.

The behind the scenes featurette lasts about eighteen minutes. Carmen starts out showing off and talking about wanting to go to Paris before having some fun chatting with Lindsey and Ryder about what a great time they had. Randy and Marcus have a couple laughs too before Michael Raven works with the guys for the bar scene with Ryder. Jax also chats with a big tittied bottle blonde and lets a brunette show off for him who had cameos in the movie. Abbey also shows off a bit before Randy talks about why he used to be referred to as “the specialist” and shoots his scene with her. There's also plenty of footage of the other sex scenes being shot before Lindsey takes a little backrub break. Finally there's a bit more of the scenes being shot and a few outtakes. This is a nice behind the scenes featurette. You get some very nice eye candy with the girls as well as some nice laughs with the guys. This is a nice little featurette that adds nicely to the overall DVD.

The bonus scene comes from the hilarious Carmen Goes South amd starts as Carmen heads to the couch with Marcus with some passionate kissing. They kiss their way around each other's chest before Marcus eats her pussy. This is a very nice scene. As usual Carmen looks fantastic, and once again I would have liked another position. Currently, many Wicked DVDs can be found for between about $17 and $25 with several stores offering them near the low end. This one's definitely worth the money. The movie's a bit on the short side, but it's also very satisfying and enjoyable. The technical aspects show some nice care and the extras show some decent effort. This is a very nice release and one that's well worth checking out.
