Initial Expectations: I was really impressed with Jules Jordan’s New Breed 2 and New Breed 3 so I have high expectations here as well.

Initial Reaction: It’s not Jules Jordan’s best, but it’s still worth checking out.

Audio /Video Quality: The audio is a little better than average for gonzo porn. It’s clear, but there are a few spots where it’s uneven. The video is normally clear, but does have a few problems such as natural light bleaching out some of the colors and a few shadow problems throughout the feature. The scene with Leanni Lei and Lexington Steele also has some bad flashes of pixelation that occur a few times throughout the scene. Thankfully they’re only a few flashes which don’t last much over a second.

Music: The music is pretty typical, but sits very nicely in the background where you might not even notice it at times.

Menus: The menus are pretty simple and have a few shots from the movie as well as some stills. There’s something about them that seems to fit the movie really well. The chapter menu lets you pick a scene based on a small clip from each scene.

The Feature: Over the last few years, Jules Jordan has established himself as a gonzo porn director to keep your eye on. His features all seem to follow the same formula, and don’t really have any plot other than Jules meeting women or going somewhere to watch a couple fuck. Sometimes the women are known porn stars, but more often they’re girls who are new to the industry.

Jules starts off finding Krista, a slightly above average looking blonde with a real DD rack, by a harbor pier. They go back to Jules’ hotel room while chatting, and Krista shows herself off a few times on the way and in front of the window in the room. She strips down to show a very realistic body and remove any doubt about her having implants. After having enough of the foreplay, Jukes moves on to Krista’s smoothly shaved snatch, which he pounds in several positions. Mai Ling, a pretty Oriental that’s currently a secretary but hoping to get into the porn business, starts out her scene with an interview with Jules. She doesn’t seem prepared for any of the questions, none of which seem too complicated. She does show a little potential in a couple of the positions, but mostly she looks like she’s bored or just there for the money. This scene is quite a bit different from most of Jules’ scenes. It’s edited together in a non-linear fashion, and also suffers from some of the more common gonzo problems such as soft focus problems and the camera shakes quite a bit. It interferes with some of the interview portion, but thankfully disappears when the action starts. Sadly, it all combines to make this a big letdown of a scene that’s average at best.

After showing herself off in a fishnet outfit, Nikki sucks Jules’ cock. It’s another good oral scene, but probably would have been better if it hadn’t been right behind another oral scene.

Finally, Charmane returns, this time with Gina Ryder. I had a lot of hope for this scene after watching Charmane and Gina in New Breed 2. They start off talking about the toys they brought over before moving inside and undressing each other. They caress each other lightly before Gina hops onto Charmane’s face for an inverted sitting 69 that both girls seem to really get into. Gina hops down to fully concentrate on Charmane with her tongue, and then gives her a little Jackrabbit action. It’s a great sequence since Gina seems to enjoy giving it to Charmane just as much as Charmane enjoys receiving. You don’t see much of it, but what little you do really helps it out. Afterwards Gina breaks out a double dildo that they share before Charmane gives Gina a little bunny action. It’s a very good lesbian scene that has great chemistry. It’s a very nice scene to end the movie with that definitely finishes on a high note.

In the golden age of porn, there was quite a rivalry between the coasts. Needless to say, the west coast seemed to win the competition pretty decisively. Jules Jordan, however, isn’t willing to let the fight go and films many of his features, such as Live Bait 3 on the east coast. If most of the east coast features were as good as Jules Jordan’s stuff, the competition might have ended a little differently. Sadly, Live Bait 3 isn’t Jules’ best, but it’s still quite a bit better than the average gonzo porno. This one suffers some from the sameness of two of the scenes, namely the two oral scenes which appear back to back, and fresh face Mei Ling’s mediocre first time scene. Luckily, Krista and Charmane’s scenes save the feature and make it worth checking out for them alone, even though the oral scenes aren’t too bad. Jules Jordan is showing a lot of good stuff in his movies, and Live Bait 3 captures quite a bit of it.

Extras: As usual, there’s internet information, phone sex commercials, and the standard assortment of trailers from the Pleasure family. The photo gallery has about thirty photos and nicely mixes snapshots and full screen shots.

Overall: Currently, Live Bait 3 can be found online for between about $18 and $24 with most stores offering it for about $20. As usual, Jules gives you plenty of bang for your buck, even if this isn’t as good as some of his other movies. Despite the lack of extras, Jules still puts on a good enough show that it should at least be rented, if not picked up at the lower end. The transfer lacks a little, but it’s nothing you don’t normally expect from gonzo porn.

Note to Pleasure: Although you did a good job on the photo gallery here, a few more extras would be nice. Perhaps a rundown of some of Jules Jordan’s other features or a bonus scene from another of his features. Jules is getting to be a well known and popular director, and pointing out some of his other products you release will probably be to your benefit. Also, a few extra chapter stops would be nice. Most consumers would like to see three to five chapter stops per scene (foreplay, intercourse, and pop minimum) rather than the one you offer here. Finally, please watch your technical qualities a little closer. Pixelation flashes such as the ones which occur here don't give the consumer a good feel for the quality of the company if they're a common occurrence.
