The Short Story

Initial Expectations: The little I’ve seen from Reno and Insanity Pictures has been nicely done. I’m looking forward to this one.

Initial Reaction: It’s pretty good, but nothing overly special.

Who Should Watch It : Anybody wanting all girl action with plenty of chemistry and a nice eye to capture it

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting nastier all girl action or scenes that feel unique

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects drop back a bit from Anal Instinct, Insanity Picture’s last release. The audio is pretty clear and decently balanced, but there’s also a few minor background noises. The bigger problem with the audio is that most of it only came out of one of my speakers. Everything in the scene came out of my left speaker, and the right one only hissed or let go with a little music now and then. This gave the movie a feeling that was a little off for me, and definitely interfered with my enjoyment of the movie. The video also lacks a little. It’s very nicely lit, but there’s a little camera shake and a few minor soft focus blurs which appear now and then. There’s also a little grain which is visible throughout the movie.

Music: The music comes and goes throughout the movie. It has a nice feel and nice balance, and because it appears and disappears throughout the movie it stands out nicely without interfering.

Menus: The menus are pretty good. The main menu is the worst, which blends the boxcover with a little action from the movie. The chapter menu shows some nice care and lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and the name of the lovely ladies in each scene.

The Feature

After a nicely done opening which lets you know who the performers are better than at least 90% of the other porn that’s out there, things get down to business. Each scene has two girls and only two girls, and starts out with a little storyline before getting down to the action.

Scene 1 - Michelle Lay and Shy Love

Michelle and Shy start things out relaxing by the pool with a couple drinks. Michelle has Shy rub lotion on her back, as well as her great legs and ass. As Shy rubs her down, Michelle fantasizes about what they could do later, starting with a little kissing on the couch. Shy moves down to work on Michelle’s muff with her tongue and fingers, and even gives her feet a little attention. After a bit of receiving, Michelle decides it’s time to give a little and works on Shy’s ass with her tongue. They sixty-nine a bit and grind their gashes together a little before Shy moves up to ride Michelle’s tongue. Michelle’s rewarded with a tongue for her ass as well as a few fingers for her pussy, which brings her to a nice orgasm. Michelle breaks out a glass dildo and works on Shy’s snatch next, and even lets Shy have control of it a little while she licks and plays around her ass. Finally, Shy comes back to reality when Michelle notices her licking her elbow.

This is a pretty good scene. Shy and Michelle have very nice chemistry together and look like they’re really enjoying themselves. There’s nice chemistry, a nice pace, and the toys don’t feel like a complete crutch for the scene. My only complaint here is that the anal action ends up being just a tease, and I would have loved to have seen Shy or Michelle get reamed a bit.

Scene 2 - Alana Evans and Sarah Blake

When Alana and Sarah decide to up the ante a little after a game of Strip Pool, Sarah finds herself winning and losing at the same time. She lays back on the couch for Alana to tongue her clean coochie before reciprocating. The girls work back and forth through a bit more before kissing and breaking out a clear toy for Alana’s pussy. Finally the bring things to a close with some nice kissing.

This is a pretty good scene, but didn’t impress me quite as much as the others. It’s nicely done and has decent chemistry, but absolutely nothing about the scene struck me as unique. Instead it just felt like a pretty average lesbian scene and even seemed a bit more limited than that because it only had about three positions and went on for a lot longer than three positions felt they should take. It’s not a bad scene, it just feels pretty average and most of what I’ve seen from Reno Ash has impressed me more.

Scene 3 - Nicole Sheridan and Ashley Long

When Ashley stops by to see Nicole, she finds that Nicole is busy in the shower. She runs her hand up to her tit and immediately starts fantasizing about joining Nicole in the shower. She moves to Nicole’s bed to satisfy her urges, and starts diddling herself after stripping down to her shoes and stockings, where she’s soon found by Nicole. Nicole gives Ashley a few quick kisses before moving between her legs and letting her tongue and fingers work on Ashley’s twat. This is a pretty good scene. I like the playful start to the scene as well as the great chemistry and energy that both girls put into the scene. I’m not sure what it was, but for some reason the scene still fell a little short for me. I think that it once again went on a bit long and it felt a bit repetitive. It’s a good scene, but it just feels too much like the other scenes here.

Lipstick Erotica is a pretty good lesbian feature, but could have been better. The scenes have nice chemistry and all of the girls look like they’re enjoying themselves and put nice energy into it. Unfortunately, the movie seemed to self destruct a little from sameness. All three scenes in the movie are nice, but I repeatedly had the feeling that I was watching the same scene over and over again just with different people. If you’re the type of person who watches movies one scene at a time when the mood strikes you, this shouldn’t be any problem here and I think you’ll really like the movie. If you’re the type of person who frequently sits down and watches the entire movie at once, I think you’ll end up feeling a little bored by the end and lose interest in scenes which aren’t as bad as they might seem at the time. I know that I’m in the latter group, and because of it I didn’t enjoy Lipstick Erotica as much as I hoped I would.

The Extra Stuff

There’s a little effort put into the extras. In addition to interviews with the cast and a behind the scenes featurette there’s a bio for Reno Ash and website information. There’s also a photo gallery which lasts about a minute and a half with about four seconds per very nice looking pair of snapshots or full screen photo.

Interviews are included with all of the stars. Shy love takes a couple minutes to talk about herself and the movie, as well as trying to keep Michelle Lay and Chad Thomas under control. Michelle is next, and talks about what she likes with girls, Shy, and Reno for a few minutes, as well as giving you a great reason to join her website. Alana talks about sex in general, her website, her ass, and being a pornstar. Ashley talks about her website, working with Nicole, and what she likes sexually very briefly. Nicole talks about looking forward to working with Ashley and her website. Sarah talks about the change in location for her to be in the industry as well as a little about herself. They’re all nice interviews, but nothing really spectacular. Half of them don’t seem to be much more than a website advertisement.

The behind the scenes featurette lasts about eight minutes. You get to see the scenes being shot, the still photos being shot, and a bit of screwing around on the set. It’d be a nice behind the scenes except for a couple things. First is that there’s barely any real audio to the featurette. Almost all of it is repetitive music only, and when there is other audio you can barely hear it. The other thing is that a good portion of the featurette is in fast forward. This isn’t that big of a deal because of the extremely loud audio, but it is a bit annoying when you see everybody laughing but have no clue what’s going on. This is an okay behind the scenes featurette at best.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, Insanity Pictures DVDs can be found online for between $15 and $25 with stores offering them everywhere in between. If you’re a big lesbian action fan this one’s probably worth the low end, but others will want to rent it first. The sex has nice chemistry but feels very familiar. The technical aspects are a little weak, and although there’s a bit of effort put to the extras they feel fairly empty.

Note to Insanity Pictures: You have a great start here with the sex and the extras, but something seemed to be missing here. As a start, a little more attention to the technical aspects would be very good.
