Initial Expectations: I’ve heard fantastic things about this series for a long time (not like I ever hear bad things about Jules Jordan), and finally broke down and bought it with high expectations.

Initial Reaction: What can I say? The midget makes damn good porn, and Lex is one hell of a leading man!

Audio /Video Quality: The audio is pretty clear and well balanced. There are a few background noises, but they fit in with the setting and are always during the opening tease portion. The video is also very clear. There’s barely any sign of grain, but the lighting does change frequently. This is nothing new for Jules Jordan, who uses both light and shadow to great advantage throughout his movies. This one’s no different, although there are a few shadows that get in the way a little. There’s also some sharp lighting changes where it appears lights are turned on or off.

Music: The music is often very nicely balanced with the rest of the audio, but does get a bit loud a couple times. It has a very nice techno / dance feel to it that works well for the scenes.

False Advertising: The cover states that the DVD contains star biographies, an extra scene, and 45 minutes of extra footage. Maybe I’m looking at this wrong by not watching the main menu for twenty minutes, but I don’t even see the extras coming close to forty five minutes. Twenty five maybe, but not forty five, and I don’t see the extra scene or star bios either. As much as I hate to do it, I can’t help but penalize the overall score here by a half point due to how much false advertising is on the cover.

Menus: The menus are done pretty well. The main menu blends clips from the movie with stills. The chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene.

The Feature: Lex and Jules are back. Once again there isn’t any overall plot, but there is a lead-in here and there before the scenes. As usual, each scene has a fair amount of tease, and always works in some anal action.

Alexandra Nice starts things off showing up at Lex’s right on time to interview him for AVN. After a few questions, Alexandra coaxes Lex to let her see his cock. Alexandra helps Lex release his trouser snake and then strokes it to help it grow. With all the surprise of a Frenchman running away and hiding at anything stronger than a sneeze, Heavy Metal is a great porno! He’s getting much of his form down here, and although it works great, it doesn’t have quite the polish of his current stuff. Surprisingly, Adriana Sage might be the weakest scene, although there’s not really a bad scene here. Alexandra Nice probably impressed me the most, but Leanni Lei and Justine Romee are both very impressive in their scenes. Heavy Metal is another great porno from Jules Jordan and Lexington Steele.

The behind the scenes featurette lasts about eighteen minutes. There’s plenty of behind the scenes action, including more than a little bit of sex, some extra footage, and a few outtakes as well. Best of all, everybody except for Alexandra Nice gets some decent screen time, which makes this a behind the scenes featurette worth checking out.

Overall: Currently, the Heavy Metal series can be found online for between $16 and $26 with many stores offering them for under $20. This is a pretty fair price for what you get here. The sex is hot, the technical aspects very good, and there’s even a behind the scenes featurette. At the very least, give this one a rental if you’re interested in it.

Note to Rosebud / Jule Jordan: Please watch your cover advertisements better in the future. I was extremely disappointed to find roughly a third of the advertised extras.
