Girlfriends Films likes to walk the line between plot-driven features and short-story anthologies. Whereas a series like Pin-Up Girls has continuing characters and a thread, this series (or at least this volume) appears to be a collection of loosly related scenes with a common theme. In this one, it's landlord/tennant relationships, typically with horny landlords who going to kick their tennants out on the street if there's no sex. Since this is porn, it's pretty obvious what happens.

For plotting, it's largely about the use and abuse of power, and nonviolently-coerced lesbianism. If you're into plot and scene setting and context, it's more interesting and far better executed than the "ya call for a plumber, ma'am?" scenarios you see elsewhere. But it's also nicely set up for those of us who don't really care why these girls get into bed, as long as they eventually do. In other words, you can skip directly to the good stuff and there's plenty of it.

As usual with GFF productions, there are four main sex scenes, each 30 minutes or more.

Scene 1: Julia Ann and Brea Bennett; both are blonde; Julia Ann is has fake (but still nice) boobs.

Scene 2: Jessica Bangkok, Aimee Addison and Dyanna Lauren. Aimee and Dyanna re blondes, Jessica is a voluptuous asian hottie. All three look like they've been enhanced, but they're all well done.

Scene 3: RayVeness and Brook Lee Adams. Two brunnettes with natural breasts; Rayveness is stacked, Brook Lee less so. They get it on as Julian Ann watches, so it's not really a threesome. This is why I got the DVD, because I think RayVeness is a cross between Annette Haven and Kay Parker, two of my favorite golden-age stars, and I'd probably watch her on an infomercial for life insurance, I'm that smitten. She doesn't disappoint.

Scene 4: Julia Ann and Dyanna Lauren. The finale, as the two land ladies get together for a happy ending. This scene also carries over to the Behind the Scenes piece.

One of the neat things about the sex scenes often add something a little usual, something you don't see anywhere else, without looking ridiculous. A good example is in the first scene, where Brea is on her stomach and Julia Ann is coiled around her, finger Brea's clit from underneath. It's an usual position (and sounds stupid as I try to describe it in words), yet it looks good on screen.

Special Features: a short, but quality, still photo gallery and a 15 minute Behind the Scenes. It's Julia Ann and Dyanna Lauren naked and in bed from the final scene, chatting lightly.

Production values: GFF titles are well made. The video is sharp, the color is good, the camera work is professional. They don't try to be artistic or call attention to themselves--it's all about the images onscreen. Sound is clean and clear and no annoying music bed.

The DVD layout is simple and easy to use. The main movie is divided into the four main scenes, all directly acessible by the menu. Each scene has chapter stops (but no menu) approximately every three minutes, so you can easily skip around or set up A-B repeat loops if your DVD player allows. That's a nice feature to have, since it makes it easy to navigate to something you particularly like.

Final verdict: Girlfriends Films does a great job of creating a movie that can be viewed as a feature-film with plot, or as a compilation of hot sex scenes, depending on your interests. Their lesbian sex scenes are consistently among the best anywhere. The performers are attractive, the orgasms look real, and they try to make the scenes interesting and a little unusual without being ridiculous. It's obvious that David Mamet doesn't write the stories, but they're still two cuts above standard porn fare in that it assumes its audience is adult and intelligent. As always, it looks like it was made by people who want repeat sales. They've certainly got my business.
