Initial Expectations: I’ve had very mixed results with Plum’s foreign releases, so I don’t really know what to expect.

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody looking for what feels like a full porno

Audio /Video Quality: The English audio for the feature is dubbed, and although clear, shows why many people hate dubbing. It has absolutely no soul whatsoever. The video is about what one would expect from a movie from the early nineties. It has a little grain and looks about like a normal VHS picture.

Music: The music tries to have a very romantic style, which would normally help out couples movies. Sadly, it feels very cheap here, like somebody added it in by placing an old boombox near one of the microphones. It’s often very overpowering, to the point I could barely hear the people, and fairly scratchy. It also caused me to yawn several times, which is never a good sign in an adult film.

Menus: The menus are very basic and make the DVD feel cheap, especially the main menu. The chapter menu lets you pick a point in the movie from a still picture.

The Feature: Le Fruit Defendu tells the story of photographer Alban Ceray. He survives a car accident that killed his wife and goes back to a small rural town to basically hide from most of his life. He has a few male friends who want to try and help him get on with his life, and a few lady friends who want to make sure his cock still works after the accident. I’ll admit right away that I’m not positive on the names of most of the people here, but I’m going to give it a shot at identifying them since there are real credits at the end.

Alban Ceray and Patricia Violet start things out on a special night after a romantic dinner. It’s a fairly formulaic scene, but it’s brought down a little more than that because the camera seems to prefer fairly close-up shots of the head rather than backing up a little to actually show something. I actually scanned forward and back during this scene to check and see if this was hardcore or softcore at one point. It has a loving feel to the scene, but the romance of it is so strong that it almost completely kills the sex. It also lacks a pop shot.

Alban Ceray returns for the next scene, this time with Christine Glenne who wants to help him get past his lover’s death. It doesn’t seem to work, as the rest of the scene is shown more form Alban’s perspective where he’s still thinking of banging Patricia Violet. The camera work is a little better this time, and fairly well balanced. Once again, however, there isn’t a pop shot shown. The scene also appears very cut off, like it might have been edited.

Helene Shirley and Claire Forestier get busy in a hot tub together next. They start out very erotically, with one girl rubbing the other’s back with a brush, before a little underwater pussy play. They finish it off grinding their pussies together, which thankfully for them don’t act like suction cups, and a few small kisses before calling Alban Ceray, who gives them towels. He sticks around to rub lotion on one of their backs. He starts to finish her off as the other girl couldn’t, but she should have gotten her friend a strap on, since Alban runs off after only feeling her up a little.

Yves Callas practically forces himself on Sylvie Scott in the barn. This isn’t anything new for him, as he had a quick forced blowjob with Yoko earlier in the feature. It seems to be the price the women staying on his farm have to pay to have a roof over their heads. He bends her over a few hay bales and pounds away on her pussy from behind before an internal cumshot. It’s not that comfortable of a scene and one that I could have very easily skipped.

Alban Ceray gets a little loving from the other girl from the hot tub next. She sucks his cock while he amazingly doesn’t seem to think of Patricia Violet. As usual, there isn’t a cum shot and the blonde runs off for a job before getting raped by Yves Callas. The setup at least is a rape, but there are a few points where she seems to enjoy the fucking.

Finally, Alban Ceray and Yoko do the horizontal mambo after she tells the Mayor that he raped her. I guess this is one of those sympathy fucks along the lines of “I’m sorry you’re really fucked up, so why don’t we see how well I fit inside you!”. He tests out his tongue and finger’s fit in her pussy first, before she sees how well she can wrap her lips around his cock. Afterwards he slides himself inside her, with the final credits rolling before he can pop a wad. By this point in the movie, I really could have cared less about either of them, although the scene was done very romantically.

Le Fruit Defendu is definitely not your average porno. It has many things not in normal pornos, such as farm animals, tractors, natural women, and a plot that almost completely drowns out the sex. There’s also quite a bit of forced sex, which really brought a lot of the movie down even further for me, and not a single pop shot in the entire feature. If all this isn’t enough, it feels like it’s been edited in several places, which also brings down the feature. Unfortunately, I can’t find any information on the title, so I don’t know for sure if it has been edited or not. I can’t say I really care at all about this title, even if it is kind of well done.

Extras: Nothing, unless you count internet links and a chapter menu.

Overall: Currently, Le Fruit Defendu can be found online for between $15 and $25 with only one store offering it for under about $20. Although the movie appears well done, as well as edited, I can’t say that it did much but make me sleepy. The sex isn’t well done, and seems to mostly deal with forced sex. The transfer is average at best, and there isn’t anything for extras.

Note to Plum: Although I didn’t care much for this one, it’s great to see you releasing a wide range of titles on DVD and branching out to include the couples related European titles.
