The Movie

Law & Lust is a complete mess of an adult movie that appears to have been an unfinished production that was thrown together once the budget was used up. Law & Lust masquerades itself as a feature adult movie, which it is not. It may have at one point been planned to be a feature movie, but the end result is anything but. The plot that is here is nonsensical. There are some minuscule plotted portions but when put together they might equal, at most, ten minutes of the three hour run time and put together they don't make any sense. The dialog is poor and I hope mostly improvised as it just sounds bad.

From what can be figured out from the snippets of what goes for the plot in this movie, Miami police detectives Paul Scott (Rock the Icon) and Mallory (Flower Tucci) are under investigation by the Miami police and detective Eddie Stone (H.J.) for the death of Greedy (Greedy). While this sounds like a decent story, this is what I pieced together from the entire three hour movie. The plot seems to be thrown in haphazard here and there, sometimes with informational text blocks telling you what the plot for what you are seeing is, kind of, which doesn't even always make much sense. The whole mess ends with a conclusion that looks like it is supposed to be climactic but honestly means nothing and then the words “to be continued.” Fortunately for adult movie audiences the next part of Law & Lust was never made so if this mess was supposed to be explained over a series of movies that never came to fruition.

The whole movie seems to be haphazard in its construction. Even the sex scenes, which will randomly switch locations sometimes, and even sometimes switch back even for no real noticeable reason. It almost appears as if there were left over sex scenes from another production and Josh Stone and Robin Rich came up with this disaster to utilize the footage and then shot some more footage to fill the full run time. There is also random tease footage thrown into the movie, for seemingly no real plot or any other reason than to just take up more run time. It doesn't even fit in with what was just happening or about to happen. Most of the sex scenes don't fit within whatever narrative is attempting to be told. The cast looks nice and the females are oiled up nicely but that doesn't save this movie.

The ineptitude behind this movie doesn't cease with the mess of what was called a story and the inconsistent sex scenes. There is some sort of crud on the camera lens during several of the shoots, which just looks sloppy. There was another point where it looked like they were taking still shots while also filming the movie. There was footage shot where the actors clearly interact with people who had no idea they were part of a movie since their faces have been blurred in the final production, which just looks so unprofessional. The footage didn't even help the mess that this production turned out to be. There are significant lighting issues throughout the movie. Some other scenes have been digitally manipulated which causes unnatural looking skin tones and haloing.

The Edition

Justin Slayer International has done a poor job with the DVD two disc release of Law & Lust. In an odd move, the trailer for Law & Lust plays prior to the movie when you select to play the movie. Law & Lust is presented in the anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio of 1.78:1. There are issues with the image presented on this release. Throughout most of the film the image looks poor. The image is grainy in places. Some scenes were digitally manipulated which causes skin tones to be off and unnatural looking and haloing.

Law & Lust is presented with an English Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo track, which has significant issues. The sound volume is all over the place throughout the movie. There are points that the sound can get too low resulting in making it almost impossible to hear what is being said, other points where the sounds comes blaring at you, and yet others where the sound is in between the two. The audio is definitely a mess and I doubt anyone will be happy with it.

Justin Slayer International has included a few extras on this release. The first DVD contains the movie and trailer only. The trailer for the movie is included on the first disc, but for some odd reason has been set to play prior to the movie when you select to play the movie. The second disc is where the extras are located. “Behind the Scenes On the Set of Law & Lust” is a 65 minute piece that isn't really a behind the scenes piece. It is mostly tease footage (especially of Flower Tucci) and other random not behind the scenes footage. “Behind the Scenes With Heather Silk” is a 23 minute feature that offers tease footage of Heather Silk. “Tease with Sasha Spice” is a 19 minute feature that is at least appropriately titled. There is a gag reel with bloopers and deleted scenes that runs for four minutes. There are two deleted scenes that run for a total of 12 minutes. There is a one minute cumshot recap. There is also a photo gallery included on the disc.

Final Thoughts

Law & Lust is a poor attempt at a feature adult movie that is a mess throughout. The movie offers nice looking oiled girls and some nice Miami locales but little else within the movie makes sense. There is almost no plot and what is here is nonsensical. The sex scenes bounce all over the place and the movie is a technical mess. Justin Slayer International has done a poor job with the DVD release.
