Review:
While many of us were sitting on the couch, getting fat, and watching the world fall apart, the dynamic duo of Small Hands and Joanna Angel decided to put their quarantine time to more productive use and create one of the paramount adult features of the year...all by themselves. Shot in essentially a single location and featuring only Hands, Angel, and Mike Quasar (remotely), the pair's new horror-porn mash-up, Lana (from Burning Angel), is simultaneously unique, terrifying, and erotic.
The storyline finds the happy couple having just moved into a fancy, new home that should have been way out of their league. Of course, strange things immediately start to happen--first slowly and then more rapidly--and it isn't long before the two are enveloped in raw (and sexual) demonic energy. How everything unfolds--and where this evil came from (no spoilers)--keep the viewers on the edge of their seats throughout.
Assisting in all of this is exceptional cinematography and editing, coupled with visually impressive special effects (black smoke, entities fading in and out, energy blasts, and so on.) Moreover, the soundtrack is top-notch, as well, and if one's familiar with Hands' (the director, by the way) music, they'll recognize some of the melodies from his recent Empty Streets--"Demons" EP (...also worth looking into, by the way.)
The sex is equally impressive, as much of it is captured either in POV or with the camera positioned in the room. The overall effect, which likely owes in large part to Hands and Angel being a real-life couple, is a very realistic and palpably passionate one. Moreover, the two play into the emotions of any given scene quite well, morphing from happier to more dark and sadistic tones, as need be. (In terms of the nuts and bolts, it should be noted that Joanna does anal, ass-to-pussy (A2P), and takes a cream-pie from Small Hands, and she also offers up an insatiably erotic masturbation sequence early on in the flick, as well.)
All in all, this release is unique, thrilling, enthralling, and scorching hot. Shot literally at home on a shoestring during a global pandemic, it still easily holds its own against the big budget features of the year. Small Hands and Joanna Angel are creative in ways that many can only dream of, and it shows here. Kudos to them on this project! Be sure to check it out. Hands down and dicks up, it's a winner!
