REVIEW:
Suze Randall has been around for a many many years.  Many porn fans (or at least dedicated fans of the porn stars) will know Suze as one of the best (and only) true glam photographers in the biz.  For about two decades, Suze Randall has been photographing porn stars as if they were models, and through her website she has made quite a reputation for herself in this arena.  It is somewhat less known, however, that Randall has also shot a few full-on skin flicks back in the mid-eighties, and included in her casts were some of my favorite ladies from porn-days past, including the legendary Angel, Ginger Lynn, and Sheena Horne among others.  Now in the new millennium, Suze has returned to directing, only this time with an updated harem of ladies, and using high quality video as her medium rather than film.

On thing I expect to see here above all else is what Suze has built her reputation on--making the girls look good.  I have somewhat dubious expectations about the sex itself, generally because a high level of perfectionism when it comes to flawless hair and exquisite costumes is often, but not always, in conflict with the elicitation of great sex.  In any case, I'm certainly up for seeing what co-directors Suze and Holly have to offer. 

Anais Alexander

Anais is a very leggy honey blonde with a pretty face, and a gorgeous body.  I dare say she's on the thin side for those who like a little meat on the bones, but for me she's quite fetching.  After a bit of tease (and really not very much at all), we jump right into the sex, where Anais isn't afraid tell the rather good looking guy she's with what she thinks throughout the scene.  Her dirty talk intensifies as the scene goes on, and there were even a few moments that got to me despite how obviously manufactured it all was.  One thing is certain, however, Anais looks just gorgeous, and the camera seems perfectly placed (in exceedingly deliberate ways), but any feelings these two claim to have (including a couple loud and ridiculous "orgasms" on Anais' part) are completely insincere as near as I can tell.  It's all for show, but if you can suspend your disbeief well enough, there are some very nice visuals.  A condom is used in this scene, but it's of the thin, pink variety that you almost have to pay careful attention to notice.  Eventually the guy comes on Anais' tits, and so ends a beautifully lit, nicely captured scene, with absolutely no authentic sexual spark whatsoever.

Ander Page

Ander, God bless her, is a wonderfully gorgeous girl with a smile that I find extraordinarily sexy.  Besides that, I know her to be a heck of a performer when she wants to be as well.  Nacho Vidal, Ander's scene-mate in this particular romp, is also a hell of performer, and if any two people can pull out a good scene in the Suze Randall environment, they can.  In fact, that's exactly what they do.  This is easily the best scene on the disc, and I really believe that is due in large part to Nacho's charisma and sexual prowess and Ander's natural response to it.  Heat seems to escape the seams of Suze's otherwise tightly controlled photographer's habitat when the performers often seem to forget to follow direction and simply fuck each other instead.  There's a startlingly fantastic bout of reverse cowgirl undertaken in the confines of a chair that is not to be missed for anyone who likes seeing what Nacho can do with a girl like Ander.  For those interested, Suze still gets her stiff direction to come through in places, including a fair amount of looking at the camera on Ander's part, but by and large there's a fair amount more going on in this scene than in any of the others.  Ander eventually gets a tongue full of cum to finish things off, and while I certainly don't mean to suggest that this scene was particularly fantastic in the grander scheme of dynamic, sweaty, athleti-sex, by the standards of this disc, it's the best offering of the lot.

Gisselle

Giselle is a pretty brunette with gorgeous little tits and nipples that stick straight out for most of the scene.  The guy she's with is black, bald, muscled and would totally be my wife's wet dream if only he had a goatee and happened to be gay as well....  Don't ask me--I've learned to just accept it and move on.  The scene is characterized by the beautiful visuals that have so far been the standard for this movie--vibrant skin, nice angles, and heavy editing.  Giselle, while no Ander, is a little more low-key in her fakery than Anais was, and although at times their coupling still seems like more of a job than a pleasure, at least I wasn't laughing out loud at an endless series of screaming Anais-climaxes (tm) that seemed to come from nowhere.  He finally comes on her face.  ::shrug::  Again, this one has typically gorgeous visuals and a more subdued feel, but the sex is still far too clinically perfect to get much of a reaction from me.

Jana Cova, Sandra Shine

There's not much more to say here that I haven't said already.  Both girls are just absolutely beautiful.  I can't stress that enough.  They are dressed exquisitely, and shown off with care.  The sex, however, is laughably bad, complete with caterwauling, lipstick-lesbian "orgasms" that just make me want to bury my head in my hands with the embarrassment of even watching it.  That said, though, you could do worse than looking at Jana Cova's absolutely incredible body and hauntingly gorgeous eyes for 20 minutes.  She is a real heartbreaker.

Lanny Barby

Damn, Lanny is fucking beautiful.  I mean if there's one thing this movie doesn't skimp on, it's in the beauty of the cast.  Both males and females have been very attractive, and that's understating it.  She takes on two guys here, complete with anal and a double penetration, but the sex is so fragmented and rushed along through heavy editing, it feels more like an extended preview of a scene rather than a complete whole.  I can't help but wonder if Lanny's done any work for anyone else, because she might just really drive me insane if I was able to see more fucking and less posing.  Although this scene is certainly one of the better one's one the disc in terms of energy, and Lanny's face looks fantabulous covered with cum, it still suffers from a bit too much heavy-handedness behind the camera and in the editing room for my tastes.

OVERALL:
For me, Suze's work (at least in this release) lands somewhere in a little niche between the hardcore of gonzo and the pure aesthetic sterility of Antonio Adamo and his Private Penthouse series.  It is free of the brutality and excessive emphasis on bodily fluids that many of today's all sex vids seem unable to rise above, but at the same time it's still hardcore sex with just enough edge to keep things interesting.  In that way, although it sides more closely with Adamo's style than those of the smut factories, it also has slightly more humanity than I've ever seen Adamo offer.  For some people, that will be precisely what the doctor ordered, and I have no doubt that some of those who don't share my interest in more passionate, improvisational encounters will find the perfect balance of hardcore vs. discretionary taste in Suze's very beautiful work.  For me, it's a bit too careful and overproduced to really capture the crazy, un-definable dynamic that I'm after.  Ander's scene easily comes the closest in that regard, but after all was said and done, I'm not sure even it makes this disc worth anything more than a rental.

EXTRAS:
The highlight of the extras are three separate strip sequences by Jana Cova, Sandra Shine, and Lanny Barby.  Lanny's has a bit of an interview to it as well and is worth checking out if only to see her pretty smile and hear her French-Canadian accent.  There is a photo gallery and some trailers included as well.
