La Dresseuse (The Trainer) Review

Cut to the chase: This is billed as the 'explosive return of Zara Whites.' According to the cover, it earned the Hot D'Or in 1999 for 'Meilleur Realisateur Europeen'...Best European Director? Anyway, my French-to-English translator says the title means 'The Adjustor,' but I suspect it's 'The Ringmaster.' At any rate, just looking at the female cast should tell you that this one has plenty of eye candy, and I assure you they get put to good use. My main complaint is that Zara only did girl/girl, darn it. If you're new to Euro-porn, this wouldn't be a bad one to start with (but see the note at the end of this review first). I would describe it as mild raincoater. There's lots of anal, but it's mild stuff compared to today's gonzo standards.

Scenes Du Film - 12 chapters
Le "Making Of" - A 25 minute hodgepodge of interviews, scenes being discussed, scenes being shot, sets being done, publicity stills being taken, etc. Each interview is pretty brief, but you get to hear from Zara, Kate, Oceane, Lea, Dru and Danielle. I didn't understand a word of Zara's interview, but she was so effervescent that I just wanted to jump through the screen and kiss her. No wonder all the other girls commented on how thrilled they were to work with her. Also of interest to me was the fact that Kate spoke English during her scene (dubbed to French in the release), while Zara clearly spoke French. More proof that those European shoots are multilingual affairs.
Le Film Annonce - a 5+ minute add that actually shows each cast member with their name on the screen! As a reviewer, I'd have given Alain a prize for that alone.

The Story: I took five pages of notes but I've decided to spare us both. Basically, all you need to know is that Zara is the dominating ringmaster who controls what happens in each scene. She instigates, but doesn't always participate. Lea is the focus of Zara's attentions; we see the other girls as episodes in the past. You can consider the metaphor of the circus, or not, the sex scenes will work either way.

Scenes:
1) Dru and Mark
The lion tamer takes on Zara's leopard-girl after Zara's put her through her paces and warmed Dru's pussy up with her tongue. Dru's leopard-skin skirt (mid-section wrap, really), collar and cuffs are kind of cute. The black booties don't really fit, but what the hell, it's porn, right? Dru looks good and is, well, Dru; an obvious choice for the part.

2) Fovea, Phillipe and Kevin

The sex was OK, but I was a little off-put by the premise and rough treatment at the beginning; and DP isn't really my thing.

I loved Kate's look in this scene, and found the fact that her white dress stayed on very erotic. Of course, this being porn, it was pushed up, and down, to display her charms. Yum! I was a little disappointed that Bruno and Kate didn't get more onscreen time.

4) Oceane, Zara and Yan
An old man, his wife and son stand beside a casket. The daughter-in-law (I'm guessing at the relationship) stands on the other side. Zara, looking very chic in shades and the latest in Parisian fashion-wear, comes up behind Oceane and starts describing a scene to her. Is the scene real? Who knows; at any rate, we see Oceane, wearing only white stockings and a very large pearl necklace, sitting on the old man's lap as he plays with his train set. It's an amusing scene, but the point is the effect on Oceane. Zara starts having sex with Oceane right by the casket at which point the old woman drags her husband away. The son stays to watch and is eventually invited to take over from Zara. The old man returns and throws his wife to the floor when she tries to get him to leave. Ugh. We do get to see Zara's long black dress unbuttoned to reveal black panties, bra and nylons on a figure that looks every bit as good as it ever did. Did I mention I was disappointed Zara only had sex with the women? Oh well, on to Oceane and Yan's lovemaking.
The sex acts: BJ, cowgirl, reverse cowgirl, reverse cowgirl anal, anal spoon; Yan pulls out to come on her crotch. The old man comes forward run his hands over Oceane's body.

5) Lea and Zara
Lea, in a circus costume consisting mainly of a metallic bikini and gauzy blouse, swings from a trapeze to show off her moves (and that fantastic body). After she dismounts, Zara, wearing an English-style riding outfit and carrying a long whip, enters the ring and claps mockingly. She then wraps the whip around Lea's neck and uses it to lead her to the circular platform at the center of the ring. They proceed to make love. I'm not a fan of girl/girl, but if I have to watch, then it's nice to have such fine eye candy to look at.
The sex acts: pussy-fingering and licking, 69, crotch-to-crotch rubbing and bumping. Despite the "O" faces, I'm doubting any orgasms occurred.

6) Daniella and Reinhard
