King Size (His) Review

Long before there were the big cocks of Chad Hunt and Michael Brandon and the two Donovans Chad and Tony gracing our screens there was Rick Donovan for whom the last two were probably named. The title of this film doesn’t say Rick Donovan IN King Size. It says Rick Donovan IS King Size. Rick looked like a cute mid-western farm boy who seemed to have the IQ of a cantaloupe but between his legs was a huge slab of Grade A meat. He’s paired here with Jesse Koehler, a slim blond California beach boy. Jesse actually manages to deep-throat the monster, something I don’t remember anyone else doing. (I can still see Leo Ford trying to swallow the thing in the film LEO AND LANCE. It resembled a mouse trying to ingest an anaconda.)

The film has a weak framework. Chris Allen, a petite blond whom I found adorable in these early pre-condoms and who had a small uncut cock (the first I ever saw on film), is a magazine editor trying to choose models for an upcoming magazine. As he looks at pictures he imagines guys together.

The first pairing is the Donovan-Koehler one. I remember this scene from a friend’s duped VHS. I thought then it was one of the hottest scenes ever committed to film. As always, memories play tricks. It is not as hot as I remember, but it still has the power to uplift the sagging spirit. As they await their appointments with Chris, a mutual attraction occurs and Jesse is soon admiring Rick’s prick and sucking away. The fuck begins with Jesse on his back on a ottoman. When Rick slides his cock into Jesse’s upturned butt, the latter exclaims “Sweet Mother Mary!” They go from missionary to doggy to Jesse lying on his stomach on the floor as Rick continues to widen that anus. Here as elsewhere the editing is rather erratic as we go from sucking to fucking to sucking. Nevertheless, the scene still packs a punch, something that cannot be said for the remaining two scenes.

Following the same pattern more of less as the first scene, we find two guys waiting to see Chris. They are seated side by side on sofa looking a male magazines. They are a young brunet and a blond. The brunet is David Rosario. The blond is Scott Avery, another uncut blond that I found cute in these early pre-condoms. David tells Scott that he’s cuter than any of they guys in the magazines and that’s all it takes. David does lengthy lip service to Scott’s uncut beauty before fucking him. Scott does not reciprocate in the cocksucking department. And although both boys are cute, the scene which had all the heat of yesterday's bath water did nothing for me.

The final scene did even less. Chris Allen looks up from his pictures to find Chris Burns standing there in leather gear. He follows Burns into a backroom where they do some mutual cocksucking (finally) and Allen attempts to sit on Burn’s dick. He has great difficulty and eventually it’s aborted. This is what can happen when you put two bottoms together in a scene. The thought may be there but the flesh is weak. Although I love Chris Allen this scene was just plain bad.

With the best scene at the beginning, the remainder of the film goes downhill like a greased pig on a ski slope. Its meager 58 minutes seemed like more. (That is not a compliment.) I think I know now why I never bothered to get this on VHS. Still I have it now on DVD. The first scene is worth watching, but on the whole I have to give this a less than average rating. With these performers who would have thunk it?
