Killer Bodies: The Awakening is a unique adult entertainment experience. It is an interactive movie, yet it has a real, and very well done, story line for the movie. The story for the movie has Beth (Tori Black), Dan's (Randy Spears) wife, being kidnapped by a group run by Ace (Barrett Blade). Beth is forced through a series of erotic tribulations, but for what reason? The kidnappers, she learns, plan to let her free in 30 days and are not trying to get any sort of ransom.

The story is well done and rather well developed for an adult movie. David Lord, the director, has taken care to make Killer Bodies: The Awakening look like a real movie, with seemingly as much detail going into the non-sex and story portions as the sex portions of the movie. The movie has been well shot as well, Lord has done a great job all the way around with this movie. The cast does a great job with their roles. The interactive aspects of the movie don't ruin the feature movie aspects of Killer Bodies: The Awakening in the least.

The sex scenes are well done and most of them fit in the movie well. An exception to that is the tacked in “adult movie scene” option at one point in the movie. Especially since the scene doesn't match the adult movie scene within the other sex scene. One is made expressly for Killer Bodies: The Awakening; the other is culled from another Adam & Eve title. I would have preferred that the movie completely utilized a made up adult movie to be within this title. The sex scenes are on the longer side, which is more the norm these days, so it was expected, but the length of the sex scenes does detract from the story. There are some scenes were non-sex footage is integrated to make the scene not detract as much from the story.

Lord has managed to slip in some plugs for other Adam & Eve ventures that he has been a part of. Some of these are done far better than others. For instance, the plug for The A-Team XXX is rather cheesy. However, the connection with Grindhouse XXX is far better done and works well within the movie and will probably be missed by most viewers.

There are three options on how you can view Killer Bodies: The Awakening. The first option is the 'choose your own experience' option. For those who grew up reading the Choose Your Own Adventure series started by Edward Packard this isn't the same. With the exception of one choice you can make, none of the choices change the story at all. What this option gives you is there are ten places within the movie where you are presented with an option of which sex scene you want to watch. When the movie reaches a place where the option exists, the movie pauses and across the bottom of the screen the two options appear and you use the remote to select which one you want. If you don't select the option you want before a certain amount of time passes, it will select one for you. After the sex scene option the movie goes back to the regular narrative movie. The tenth option does change the ending the movie has. This series of options creates a total of 32 different versions of the movie that can be watched.

The second option is 'auto play,' which selects a random choice at each one of the ten different selection points so you don't have it interact with the movie using your remote but don't have to watch the same movie that you watched the last time. The third, and final option, is to watch the 'director's cut' of the movie, which would presumably be Lord's preferred choice of sequences for watching his movie. With the 'director's cut' option there are no choices to be made with the remote and the movie is the same every time that you watch it.

Adam and Eve has made an excellent release for Killer Bodies: The Awakening. The DVD edition contains three discs. Killer Bodies: The Awakening is presented in the 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen aspect ratio The image looks absolutely beautiful! Colors are rendered perfectly and the picture is nice and clean with no obvious blemishes.

Killer Bodies: The Awakening is presented with two different audio options. There is an English Dolby Digital 5.1 surround track available, which sounds great. Dialog is clear and can be heard at all times. The surround mix gives the movie nice depth. There is also an English Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo track included on the disc that is serviceable.

The first disc contains the movie along with a feature length commentary track with David Lord and Eric Masterson. There is an issue with the disc. The commentary only works right with the director's cut of the movie, but you can select it and watch any of the movie options. With any other movie option, the commentary cuts out for the optional scenes. Adam & Eve should have really locked this option to the director's cut version of the movie only.

The second disc contains the second part of the movie with the end of the commentary track. There is also a 26 minute bonus scene with Bree Olson and Evan Stone from The Surrender of O on the second disc. The second disc also contains an Easter egg which is a nine minute “Directors Diary” with David Lord.

The third disc contains the bulk of the extras for the release. There is a nine minute blooper reel. There is a two minute piece on the box cover shoot. The internet promo trailer for the movie is on the disc. There is an absolutely massive feature length 119 minute behind the scenes piece. There are interviews on the disc with Tori Black, Barrett Blade, Seth Gamble, Jessica Jaymes, Teagan Presley, Alexis Ford, and David Lord. There is a 22 minute piece on the casting calls for Killer Bodies: The Awakening. There are four different sets of monitor loop footage that were used in the movie, each one individually viewable. And there are three photo galleries included on the disc.

Killer Bodies: The Awakening is a well done adult feature movie from David Lord. Lord has taken the time to create a movie that is more than just sex but offers a well done story, great non-sex portions, and sex that fits into the movie. The release is interactive, which means you can change certain aspects of the movie so that it is different on repeated viewings. Adam & Eve has done a great job with this release with a beautifully presented movie and a treasure chest filled with extras for the movie.
