Kelly the Coed —Part 8: Pi Pi Pussy, just might be the second best movie in the Kelly the Coed series thus far. This movie seems to have the most attempt at a plot since the first movie. The plot is still weak, but at least there is an attempt at it. I would say that Jim Powers decided to try again, but I am not convinced he was behind this entry. This is the first movie in the Kelly the Coed series to contain no directorial credit anywhere on the release.

There is a considerable rip-off of Revenge of the Nerds in this entry. Kelly (Allysin Chaynes) is the pledge marshall for the Pi Pi house in the sorority exchange. The frat boys at the Kappa house, which happens to be the nerd fraternity, kidnap Kelly. Their ransom, Pi Pi pussy, to be paid out for the release of Kelly.

Kelly is still in her freshman year and must be getting toward the end of it. Powers, or whomever as at the helm of this one, has managed to shoot minimal footage at a college, albeit a seemingly closed at the time one. Whoever was behind this one seems to have no actual knowledge of the Greek letter system. The Pi Pi sorority girls are adorned with hats proudly proclaiming they belong to Alpha Kappa Alpha — yes nary a Pi anywhere there — and sweatshirts proclaiming they are Phi Sigma Sigma. Although Phi is close to Pi containing just one extra letter, it is not Pi. If the confusion of the poor Pi Pi girls not actually knowing what sorority they belong to isn't bad enough, the poor boys at the Kappa house are in worse shape. Throughout the movie they manage to be identified as Kappa Alpha Phi, Pi Kappa Alpha, and Pi Kappa Phi. Yes, the frat boys at TKE seem to be out and now Greek alphabet soup is in.

The sex scenes look nice, but there is obnoxious music over them. The script is filled with bad lines and Professor Longfellow (Marc Cummings) is actually a little scary with his extreme obsession with Kelly. The final sex scene with Allysin Chaynes, Nadia Foster, and Rick Masters is over lit causing the bodies to appear white and glow.

While with a lot of work, a decent script, and some better actors and actresses Kelly the Coed — Part 8 actually would have a chance of being a decent adult feature, as it stands it is better than most of the entries in the series. If you liked the first one, you might want to give this one a look.

Heatwave has done a poor job this release. Kelly the Coed — Part 8 is presented in the full screen aspect ratio of approximately 1.33:1. The picture contains glitches in the video and shows the limitations of the original video masters. There are phone sex adverts that play before the movie but they are skippable. Kelly the Coed — Part 8 is presented with an English Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo track. For some reason the volume on the track is incredibly low for much of the movie but does shift in volume. The sound in the bathroom scene is really atrocious. There are a few extras on the disc, but neither one is really worthwhile at all. There is a photogallery [sic] and an extra called “Bonus Content,” which is a bunch of clips from unnamed Heatwave titles in various categories.

Kelly the Coed — Part 8, while not an amazing feature by any means, just might be the second best of the Kelly the Coed series as of yet. The plot is weak but some work went into it, but be prepared for a lot of problems. The release is lacking in quality though.
