Kelly the Coed was an extremely high selling title so it was pretty much guaranteed that Heatwave and Jim Powers would make a sequel. The question would be whether Powers could pull off again what made Kelly the Coed such a popular title or would just the name itself continue sales. Kelly the Coed was never a high budget nor overly good movie itself, it just happened to work. Powers creates more of the same here, obviously hoping that trying to just copy what he did before would keep working.

He still utilizes sequences shot at a college, like he did in the first one that helps give the movie a college feel. However, this one just seems pushed. Most of the movie, despite the subtitle Initiation Night, takes place during the day and has absolutely nothing to do with Kelly (Allysin Chaynes) being initiated into the Pi Pi sorority. Actual initiation night shows up at the end of the movie. Mostly the movie consists of Kelly, still in her first semester of college, telling about what her friends are up to.

The cheapness that somehow helped the first movie, ultimately works against this one. To begin with, no one bothered to clean the lens on one of the cameras, causing elements to be visible on all the footage shot on that camera. The camera goes in and out of focus at some points, obviously left on autofocus. The movie is filled with bad acting and bad lines. The story is pretty bottom of the barrel as well, when it does get to Kelly's initiation, she's the only pledge being initiated into the Pi Pi sorority and a big portion of the initiation ceremony involves dumping giant bags of popcorn over her head while she has a dildo in her mouth. None of the sex scenes fit naturally into the movie, each and every one feels forced in for the point of having a sex scene.

While the first entry in the series was fun in a low budget way, the second one just feels cheap and poorly made in a low budget way. Had Powers tried to write something new and not just rely on trying to run off the name, this could have been a good adult movie. As it is though, I would pass.

Kelly the Coed — Part 2 is presented by Heatwave in the full screen aspect ratio of approximately 1.33:1. The video quality isn't horrible but there are some glitches within the video during the presentation. Kelly the Coed — Part 2 is presented with an English Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo track. There are some odd background noises at times during the audio presentation. They are probably the product of the actual movie making and present in the master audio. There are also German, Hungarian, Italian, French, and Spanish dubbed Dolby Digital Stereo tracks included on the release.

Heatwave has included a few extras on the release. There is a twelve minute behind the scenes piece included on the disc. The bit rate is set too low for this extra though causing pixel break up to be displayed. There is a “Meet the Cast” feature where biographies and video footage are presented for Allysin Chaynes, Gwen Summers, McKenna, Sabrina Johnson, Katie Gold, Kristen, and Candy Apples. There is also a “Virtual Sex with Allysin” piece featuring POV playing, blowjob, and sex sequences with Allysin Chaynes. There are also multiple angles utilized for the sex scenes. There are two angles available when this feature is active. Sometimes they are actually multiple angles other times they are just the same angle mirror imaged. Honestly, this feature isn't that useful.

The first Kelly the Coed was an unexpected hit and Jim Powers tries to repeat the hit with the second Kelly the Coed outing. Sadly, this one just comes across looking like a cheap adult movie and is easily skippable. The release from Heatwave shows some issues as well.
