NOTE: This is an amateur video. Amateur and homemade movies don’t have the budget nor the resources of studio porn, and therefore rarely get close to the same quality technically. I’m rating this DVD on the same scale, but most homemade or amateur features would rarely make it above a 3 on the standard scale I use for studio porn for their technical aspects. The performers also aren’t normally the ‘glamour stars’ one expects from studio porn, and instead use people who look like somebody you might encounter in your day to day life. Finally, the camera work has a different feel, as it’s often shot from a tripod or with somebody who doesn’t have the technical training or experience of professional cameramen. That said, amateur and homemade features have a great charm to them, simple because the people in them are doing what they’re doing to have fun and because they enjoy it. All the things that separate them from studio porn contribute to that charm, I hope people will keep that in mind when checking out this review and not just look at the ratings as the ultimate word on this release. Since the technical aspects are normally lacking and there normally isn’t much for extras in amateur features, I’ve weighted my overall rating more heavily towards the sex than I do in most studio porn.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are pretty average for a homemade movie. The audio is clear and nicely balanced, but there are a few minor background noises throughout the movie with most of them being a noticeable camera hum. The video is presented in the full frame format and looks okay for scenes with Jennifer. The lighting might be a little low and there's noticeable grain throughout the scenes. There's a fair mix between tripod shots and handheld shots, but Kris works the camera very well to get a great mix of angles. The scene with Jess is lit much the same with a touch of grain, but it presented in non-anamorphic widescreen completely from a tripod.

Music: None

Watermark Warning: Although the normally don’t bother me much, there is a small and tasteful watermark warning that stays in the lower right corner throughout the movie. This made it very easy to filter out for me, and quite honestly, I didn’t notice it unless I thought about it.

Menus: The menus are pretty simple. The main menu keeps Shot at Home’s usual style with their logo and a photo from the movie. The chapter menu is also simple, and lets you choose where to go in the movie based on six stills.

The Feature

Scene 1 – Jennifer and Julie

There's a great feeling to the scene with the girls complaining about how cold each other is at first as well as the temperature of the toys, but that adds a great feeling of reality as well as a few little laughs. Kris also helps it out very well by moving around smoothly and getting a great variety of shots. This scene might go on just a touch long, but it's still a very nice scene.

Scene 2 – Jennifer, Julie, and Kris

After each of the girls cum, they have Kris join them on the bed and strip him down. The girls take turns kissing him and sucking his cock before both come up to let him suck their tits. After taking turns sucking his cock a little more the girls team up on him orally. This is a good oral scene. There's a nice balance between the girls, and they both look like they're having a great time. I'm not a big fan of oral scenes, but this one worked pretty good for me.

Scene 3 – Jess and Julie

She and Julie look to be having a great time, and my biggest complaint here is that the scene didn't last longer so that Julie could get on the other end of the strap-on. After Kris's great job moving around to give plenty of angles with the camera in the first scene, the tripod also became way too noticeable and limiting. This is a good scene, but it just can't keep up with the other scenes in the movie.

Julie & Kris with Jennifer and Jess is another nicely done homemade release. Julie looks like she's up for most anything, and does a great job taking on her man as well as Jennifer and Jess. Kris seems to be doing a great job learning how to work the camera, and although there's a little grain and some obviously limited lighting, he gets plenty of great shots to raise up the opening scene. Him not being behind the camera was the biggest problem with the other two scenes, although in each case there's still plenty of chemistry with the girls looking like they're having a great time. I would have really loved to have had some better shots of Jess, as she's easily one of the most beautiful women I've seen in Shot at Home's movies, and can't help but hope that Julie is able to bring her back for a little more fun in the future (maybe even with a three-way with Jennifer). I was a touch surprised that Kris didn't get in on any fucking with the girls and limited his participation to a blowjob, but that also gives the movie a nice little break in the middle. There's a part of me that would have preferred another lesbian scene with Julie here to have this be an all girl release, but it's nice to see Kris around anyway. Julie & Kris with Jennifer and Jess is a good homemade release, and is definitely worth checking out if you want some homemade girl on girl action.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, most of Shot at Home's DVDs can be found on their website for around $20. This one might be worth the money if you like girl on girl action. The scenes all have great chemistry and the camera work is nicely done. The technical aspects are well done for an amateur movie, and as usual Shot at Home has put a little effort into the extras. This is a good DVD.
