The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are very well done. The audio is clear and well balanced, but there are a couple places that sound like they might have been dubbed. The video is very well done, and presented in anamorphic widescreen. It’s shot with a handheld style, and although it has a little motion and camera shake the motion fits the style of the movie. It’s also nicely lit and has just a hint of grain. This is a very nice looking and sounding movie.

Music: There’s a little music thrown in now and then, and it almost always adds to the feeling of the scene whenever it’s put in. That portion is almost never during the sex portion of the scenes.

Menus: The menus are extremely unimpressive. The main menu has some very minor animation along with a still while the chapter menu lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a chapter number.

The Feature

After Jack’s cut from the family millions and sent away penniless to get a job, he decides to go after what he knows best. He’s sent out to document the Teen America contest. Scene 1 - Teagan and Thomas Gunn

I got that feeling here (which seems odd since DP seems to aim many of their releases towards a female market), and it definitely held the scene back for me. It still ended up a little above average, but I think it had the potential to be much better.

Scene 4 - Trinity and Thomas Gunn

I can see this if the guys all looked like Ed “Ewwwww” Powers or Randy “Leatherface” West, but here he has some good looking guys (or so I’m told) and Digital Playground appears to be one of the leading studios for female viewers. My other problem with the sex is that it doesn’t feel the most original. The costumes often felt like they were robbed from Jules Jordan, and much of the styles of the scenes have the same feeling and style as Jules uses. It’s heavy on toys with the tease, there’s a bit of glass used to shoot through during the tease, and there’s plenty of anal and ass to mouth. Robby’s touches are still very evident in the movie, but there’s no doubt that Jules was a heavy influence on it. Jack’s Teen America is a darn hot movie that does a great job showing that Digital Playground is about more than just “soft couples movies”.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many Digital Playground DVDs can be found online for between about $12 and $28 with many stores offering them for around $20. This one’s definitely worth the low end. The sex is nicely captured and has plenty of heat. The technical aspects show a lot of care, including going all the way to the anamorphic transfer the format deserved. The only weak spot on the DVD is the extras, which are all but nonexistent. This is a very well done movie on a DVD that doesn’t come close to comparing to the movie.

Note to Digital Playground: You have a very well done movie here and a talented director who’s getting some well deserved notice. A little more care towards the overall DVD here with things like a few extras would have really been nice.
