The Short Story

Initial Expectations: Robby seems like he has quite a bit of fun with this series, and it normally has some pretty good sex. As with most everything else Digital Playground has been putting out lately, I can't help but have some good hope here.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are nicely done, just as should be expected with Digital Playground. The audio is clear and well balanced, and the few background noises that do appear seem completely natural for the locations. The video is also nicely done, starting with Digital Playground giving something most of the rest of the adult industry hasn't seemed to figure out how to do, an anamorphic widescreen transfer. Even when things step back a few years for Rocki Roads and Vince Vouyer's scene the anamorphic aspect stays and is just blacked out on the edges. The lighting is normally nicely handled, although there are a couple shadows that show up (mostly in Rocki and Vince's scene where a dark location doesn't seem wrong). There's very little grain, and although the entire movie appears to be shot by hand, there's barley any grain to it.

Music: There's a little music during some of the comedy portions of the movie, but none during the sex scenes.

Menus: The main menu nicely blends a bit of animation with a few stills and a bit of the movie in the background for a very nice first impression. The chapter menu has a generic feel by just giving a clip of each scene and a chapter number.

The Feature

Jack's Playground sticks with a simple formula. Jack (Robby D.) is hustling girls who want to get into music videos, and wants to know how bad they want to get in. He mixes in a few little skits, this time mostly revolving around Cody and Montel the dildo fishing and working to get Montel a little more money and respect, and the girls will do anything from give a little show to give it all up.

Scene 1 – Bianca Pureheart and Scott Nails

Scott brings Bianca, who's in her bottle blonde mode and looking like she really needs the porn money to buy a couple cheeseburgers to put some meat on her bones. This scene has a major “Buttman” vibe to it. Scene 6 – Rocki Roads and Vince Voyeur

My only complaint is that I hate the “Joone's Vaulted Treasures” opening and how it fits into the “Jack” movie. I love seeing some of the classic scenes like this coming out of the vault, but I wish Digital Playground would have a little more fun with it. I mean, if this is going to continue to pop up, let it be something like Joone, Jack's competition, sending him stuff he's done to rub Jack's nose in it. That said, it's a fairly minor complaint and doesn't hold back this hot scene once it gets going.

Scene 7 – Jasmine Byrne and Scott Nails

Jack starts out the final scene admiring Jasmine's fantastic ass, as well as her asshole when she pulls aside her white bikini bottoms to show the jeweled plug in her ass as she shakes it around. Jack's Playground 31 is yet another very nice installment one of the most fun porn series out there. The sex is hot and nicely captured, with Jasmine Byrne, Jana Cova, and Taryn Thomas leading the way and Cody and Montel nicely breaking things up with some very amusing skits. Robby does a very nice job behind the camera once again, and manages to mix up some nice camera angles with a hand held feel that at times seems to be an homage to the great John “Buttman” Stagliano. In the end, the only complaint I can really have here is for Rocki Road's scene, which just seemed kind of forced into the movie. Jack's Playground 31 is lighter porn, but as usual with the series, it has a fun feeling that's a very nice relief compared to a lot of what's out there in the wonderful world of porn. It might not be for everybody, but it's fun enough that it's worth checking out if you're interested in it.

Currently, many of Digital Playground’s bigger releases can be found online for between about $18 and $28 with a few stores offering them for under $20. I'd aim for the low end here. The sex is pretty solid throughout the movie, and the comedy portions are a lot of fun. The technical aspects are nicely done, but as usual, there's no real effort put into the extras. This is a hot and fun movie that's worth checking out.

Note to Digital Playground: I know this one's a few months old, and it's nice to be able to look back even this far and see some improvements on your overall DVDs between then and now. If only I could include a few extras in those thoughts.
