Initial Expectations: I’ve heard some good things about this one, so I’m going in with fair expectations.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are very good. The audio is clear and well balanced, and fits the feel of the feature pretty well. The video starts out on a very high note by being presented in anamorphic widescreen. It has just a hint of grain and is very well lit. It gets fairly artistic and mixes in a bit of black and white footage as well as cutting things together artistically. It’s a different artistic feel, and works perfectly for the feel of the movie.

Music: There’s a little music here and there throughout the movie, but very little of it is during the sex. It’s often a bit loud, but works very well.

Menus: The menus are pretty good. The main menu has some nice animation and makes a very good impression. The chapter menu is nice, as it lets you jump to any chapter of the twenty eight in the movie, but still falls a bit short. It just lets you choose a scene based on a small clip of each scene and a chapter number, and you can rarely tell who’s in the scenes from the clips. This would be a great chapter menu if the screens were organized by scene and let you know who was in each scene.

The Feature

Jack’s Playground combines reality shows, porn, and a little artistic creativity. It revolves around Jack, who’s heard but not seen and who always seems to have his video camera running. He picks up girls using the excuse that he’s going to be making music videos and is looking for talent to be in them. He’s often interrupted by things such as his family calling and friends stopping in, as well as breaking things up with a few home movies.

Scene 1 - Dani Woodward and Eric Masterson

After showing off a great natural nineteen year old body, Dani decides to give “Jack” a little oral attention. They’re repeatedly interrupted, so instead of Jack getting some, Eric gets it when he shows up at Jack’s door and Jack goes to answer the phone. Eric and Dani start out with some nice heavy petting before Dani drops down to suck his cock. Dani moves up to ride Eric before laying back so that he can take her missionary style. Finally, Dani does her best baby bird impression as Eric gives her face and tongue a nice ball blast of baby batter.

This is a great opening scene! Dani has a great cute look, and her eyes are amazing. She and Eric, who I think is one of the best actors in the industry, have very nice chemistry together and put out some nice energy. She isn’t overly vocal, but you can hear just how she gets into things as the scene moves on. She even brings things to an excellent close by taking a great facial and letting her eyes add to it. This is an excellent way to start the movie.

Scene 2 - Katja Kassin and Tyce Bune

After Katja puts on a bit of a show with some lotion and washes up in the shower, she’s introduced to Tyce. Tyce admires Katja’s killer body before letting her gag on his cock repeatedly, and then moves on to nailing her missionary style without giving her any more warmup. This is a pretty hot scene, with one minor problem. It feels like it could easily go twice as long. Katja and Tyce have great chemistry here as well as some good energy, and watching this scene I felt like I was only watching the tip of the iceberg. It’s a hot scene, but could have been much better with another ten minutes.

Scene 3 - Loni and Eric Masterson

When Jack goes to get a drink of water, he returns to find Eric getting it on with Loni. Loni sucks Eric’s cock before laying back for to fuck her missionary style. Scene 4 - Justine

Scene 5 - Penny

Scene 6 - Lana Cox and Barrett Blade

When Barrett and Lana stop by to talk with Jack about the tape he made with Penny, they decide to make a tape to send back to Penny. It takes a little coaxing to get Lana into it, but she soon lets Barrett stand in front of her so that she can mouth his meat. She lays back so that Barrett can bone her bald beaver as well as letting Barrett work her through most of the other common positions. This is another nicely done scene. Barrett and Lana have nice chemistry together and put out some very nice energy. There’s nothing really different here from the other scenes, but it works and helps the movie end on a high note, partially due to Lana’s great handling of the pop shot.

Jack’s Playground is a different and very likeable movie. I can’t help but think that this might be what would happen if an MTV style reality show had a bastard child with John Stagliano’s Buttman. It has a very modern reality show type of feel, as well as plenty of fun thrown in with the little blow-up doll skits. The sex flows nicely through the movie as Jack makes his way around LA and San Diego, and normally has very nice chemistry and good energy. My only complaint about the sex is that it seems completely oriented towards men. Digital Playground is known as being one of the companies that couples can normally rely on for having well done movies which don’t push things too far into areas that many women might be uncomfortable with. That’s the case here, and it’s done very well rather than feeling like things are just being held back so they don’t get too intense. My main problem is that all of the foreplay is for the men. I don’t think there’s a full minute of oral attention for the ladies here other than having their tits sucked. It’s a minor complaint, but still something which really stuck out to me as the movie went on. Thankfully, that’s the only complaint I can really have about Jack’s Playground. I really enjoyed the movie as a whole and it put a smile on my face with both what was happening in the movie as well as the movie’s style. If you’re looking for something modern and unique without all the nastiness, Jack’s Playground is a great place to hang out.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many Digital Playground DVDs can be found online for between about $12 and $28 with many stores offering them for around $20. At the low end this one’s a great buy. The movie is unique and the sex is nicely done. The technical aspects are also well done but there isn’t really any effort towards the extras.

Note to Digital Playground: I can see why you kept this series going. With a little effort towards the extras this would have been a great DVD. I couldn’t help but think that there had to be some great outtakes from making this movie.
