Initial Expectations: Jim Powers' work has never overly impressed me, but this seems like a great movie to watch with Halloween coming up.

Initial Reaction: It has plenty of potential, but horrible lighting and poor editing hold it back to not even get close to where it might have been.

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are okay. The audio is pretty well balanced, but there are a few areas that come off a little flat and a few very minor background noises. The video is presented in the full frame format and looks okay. The video has just a touch of softness with plenty of shadows that often interfere with the movie.

Music: After a little nicely different country-styled music to start the movie out, it descends into the typical porn music that's at least nicely balanced with the rest of the audio.

Disc Complaints: There's no time stamp to the DVD, which means that you're limited to the chapter breaks for maneuvering through the movie. This wasn't overly uncommon when this DVD was released, so I hope Heatwave has improved their authoring since this time.

Menus: The main menu gives an unanimated still that's far from impressive. The chapter menu is just as unimpressive, and lets you choose a scene based on a still of each clip only.

The Feature

Monsters below the ground that come up to attack people. Yes, it's Tremors done porno style complete with two handymen, a hot babe, and a gun nut with a hot wife.

Scene 1 – Flick Shagwell and Rafe

While Johnny's up watching for monsters, Ashley, Velvet, Rafe, and Rich pass around the bottle of Jack before the girls decide to get up and dance before stripping down. This is a pretty good group scene. The lighting is a little better and the chemistry starts out nicely strong with the girls getting it on. I would have liked a little more interaction between the couples rather than just a trade in the middle and a quick cocksuck for each, but the cumswapping at the end definitely helped it out. This is one of the best scenes in the movie, and helps to end it on a high note.

I'll admit that before watching It's Cumming I never wondered why anybody didn't make the cult classic Tremors into a porno. Now that I've seen it, however, I can't help but wish that it had been done by somebody with a lot more skill than Jim Powers. There's a lot to like about the movie, but just as much to dislike. The plot is handled quite well and has plenty of throwbacks to Tremors while also having a lot of fun with it. Yes, the giant mutant penis monster looks like a guy rolling around in a sleeping bag with tentacles and spikes glued or sewn on much of the time, but with a movie like this, cheesiness like that just made it a little more fun for me. The cast also does a very nice job with the storyline, and plays it fairly straight with just the right amount of cheese. Sadly, the blame from then on all falls on Jim Powers and his poor camera work. He has some nice angles, but the entire movie is horribly plagued by shadows which at times get so bad that you can't even make out the performers. There's also poor and choppy editing that often interrupts the flow of the scene by barely jumping from position to position rather than showing changes. It's Cumming is a fun movie that shows a heck of a lot of potential as a fun porno spoof. It's just too bad that somebody more talented than Jim Powers wasn't hired to make it.

The Extra Stuff

The photo gallery includes about two dozen full screen photos or pairs of good looking snapshots that will advance automatically every five seconds unless you choose to go quicker. Multiple angles are included, but they weren't true multiple angles from the few times I spot checked them. There are also interviews, a behind the scenes featurette, weblinks, and phone sex crap.

The interviews last a little over twenty minutes. Flick starts it out talking about how long she's been in the industry, what she hates about her body, and what she likes in men and women while showing off a bit. Velvet it next, who shows off her great tits and talks about how she prepares for anal scenes like the one she has coming up before demonstrating. She also gives a little more of a show while showing plenty of fantastic funloving personality. Finally, Ashley Long talks about her time in the industry, starting out with a DP, and sex before she also puts on a little masturbation show. This is an okay collection of interviews. There's nothing too new here, but there is some good eye candy. Velvet really shines here due to her personality, and it made me once again look forward to much more of her now that she seems to have returned to being in front of the camera. As interviews this one lacks, but overall it adds nicely to the DVD.

The behind the scenes featurette lasts about seven and a half minutes. Jim Powers starts things out chatting with Rafe and Flick before Velvet has a few words getting ready and they bury the first guy. Jim works with the group to prepare them for the kitchen scene talking about the monsters. There's a little more fun around the set with the monster as well as the cast hanging out and chatting. This is a pretty good little behind the scenes featurette.

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many older Heatwave titles like this can be found in the $10 range. At this price this is a pretty good buy. The sex isn't much above average, but the movie's fun. The technical aspects are very weak due to horrible lighting but there's some good effort put into the extras. This is a DVD that should have been much better than what it is, but is still worth checking out.

Note to Heatwave: In the future, please make sure that your budgets are big enough to allow for lights.
