The Little Details

Running Time: 66 min.

Production Date: 7 / 9 / 2004

Director: Greta Von Scorn

Cast: Anastasia, Darling, Cleo Nichole, and Lena Ramon

The Short Story

Initial Expectations: Mmmmmm. Lena Ramon...

Initial Reaction: It’s definitely not for everybody, but if it works for you it should work in a very big way.

Who Should Watch It : Fans of bondage styles and ropework

Who Should Avoid It: Anybody wanting sex or more than one person in most of the scenes

The Technical Stuff

Audio /Video Quality: The technical aspects are very nicely done, especially for a bondage feature. Normally bondage features are full of background noises and have poorly balanced audio, but I’m not sure I heard a single background noise and the audio was nicely balanced here. Rather than having dark and grainy video, the video is clear and well lit, just as you would hope for with a bigger budget mainstream release. This is a good looking and sounding release as is, but when you compare it to other bondage releases it really shines.

Music: None

Disc Complaints: There’s no time stamp to the movie, which always annoys me. I like jumping around in movies a bit after watching them the first time, and this is such a visual and niche release that I can see people wanting to go to specific situations. Being able to say “Damn, thirty two minutes and fifteen seconds in was so freaking hot, I’ve gotta see that again!” and being able to punch it into your remote and go there is a heck of a lot nicer than having to scan through half of a scene to get to that instance you want to see. There are so very few companies that don’t include a time stamp any more (normally due to cheap authoring equipment) that it always stands out to me and makes a DVD feel cheaper.

Menus: The main menu shows very little effort. You get a still and a choice between watching the entire movie, the six chapter breaks, or a photo gallery.

The Feature

I’ve never heard of Irving Klaw. Heck, when I think of Klaw, I think of the bad guy from the Inspector Gadget cartoon. That said, from a very little research Greta Van Scorn appears to be a pretty big Irving Klaw fan. Black and white lingerie, gags, stockings, high heels... simple yet sexy outfits. I’m breaking away from my typical review style here because the scenes are all fairly similar in style and action, and seems to be as much about the outfits as anything. I also think the photos at Harmony Concepts’ website do a lot better job than I would describing the outfits in the scenes. As for the action, it’s all pretty simple. The girls are tied up and struggle against their bonds as the camera moves around them. Most of the time the girls are alone, but there are a couple times when they get a little company. One scene has two girls tied next to each other, and the other has Lena Ramon come in to paddle the girl’s ass briefly.

As for the action in Irving Klaw Again, part of me really liked it and part of me didn’t. The scenes reminded me a bondage version of Smash’s early Stocking Secrets, which is a very good thing. The girls all wear sexy outfits, but rather than stripping down and talking dirty to the camera they struggle against their bonds and try to cry out through gagged mouths. Personally, I don’t always need sex in a scene to find it sexy, and I loved the costuming and rope work here. From the first tied up girl, I immediately appreciated Greta Von Scorn’s sense of style. With the sense of care she puts into it, I knew that unless the movie completely bombed with me, her sense of style and the care she put into it would have me checking out a little more of her work. On the other side of things, the action did get a little redundant, and about the time the movie was half done my eyes were glazing over slightly. A little break and that was fixed, so if you’re the type of person who wants to watch entire movies in one sitting this might not be the best release for you. If, on the other hand, you never watch more than fifteen or twenty minutes at a time, this might work very well for you. My only other complaint is in the girls. Roughly 99% of the reason I picked this one up was because it had Lena Ramon in it, and she very rarely disappoints me. Yes, she’s in this one, but I’m not sure that she has an entire five minutes in one scene that she’s in it. As a Lena Ramon fan, this left me very disappointed. Irving Klaw Again is limited in its action, but the style is very well done and definitely had my attention. I’m looking forward to checking out a little more of Great Von Scorn’s work.

The Extra Stuff

The slideshow lasts nine and a quarter minutes with about four seconds per nice looking snapshot or full screen photo.

The Down -n- Dirty Sex Stuff

Themes: All girl, bondage, and softcore

Raincoat Factor: Very low, unless you’re into watching girls struggle against bonds, in which case it’s very high

Condom Usage: None needed

The Bottom Line:

Currently, many of Harmony Concepts’ DVDs can be found online for between about $16 and $25, with stores offering them everywhere in between. Unless you’ve seen other Harmony releases, I’d suggest renting this one first. If you’re a fan of Harmony’s action, then this one should be well worth your money. There isn’t much effort put into the extras, but the technical aspects show some very nice care.

Note to Harmony Concepts: You have some cool stuff, but please work on improving your authoring a little. Simple and bare bones is often noticed and not taken in a good way when it comes to DVD authoring. Also, if you have well known performers appearing in as small a role as Lena Ramon did here, please list them as “cameo appearances”. There’s few things as annoying as picking up a movie for one specific performer only to have them walk back and forth twice in front of the camera never to appear again.
